I think I've been sent the wrong things... They are both the length and width of an A4 page - like a prefold. It's edged in rainbow overlock and seems to be bamboo (but can't tell) The Greenkids pocket came empty, so I assumed these things were the inserts - but checking the greenkids website, I don't seem to have gotten an insert - just two of these A4 thingys.

Just Emailled them to ask about it. Will let you know how I get on...

How bizarre.. maybe they have changed their inserts - unless Nelle has some suggestions?? None of my inserts even look remotely like that for my Green Kids.
Let us know how you go Nettie

    hello again everyone!

well, i went back to spotlight yesterday, and bought more microfleece, and could have SWORN that I picked up little additions stuff, so should have been cheaper than what I paid, but then they told me that it wasn't, but it had scanned wrong anyway - at $12.99, and they looked in the catalogue and said it should be $8.99, but i still reckon it should have been $5.99......but it was already 5.30, and they were trying to close the shop, and emy was cranky, so I didn't argue too much.....

PP - when I was in spotlight last week, i got a book from Panda (knitting/wool people) called "learn to knit with 56 projects" and i have started with a scarf for a teddy bear, so i only cast on 9 stitches, and then get a lot more rows done! I have tried to learn a few times in the past, with mum teaching me, but she has always cast on heaps of stitches and then i do about 6 rows and get bored coz i can't really see any progress in what i'm doing......so i reckon if i can get my teddy scarf done, then i can start to tackle something a little bigger and trickier........oh yeah, I have pulled mine apart a few times, coz the first time i started with 9 stitches, and ended up with 21, and i asked mum, and she reckoned that i must have not been taking the stitch off the needle properly, but i slowed down what i was doing a bit, and i think that maybe when i was taking the wool up to go between the needles i wasn't doing it very successfully, and somtimes splitting the wool over the top of the needle, so then it looked like i had a stitch to knit, so i did, but it shouldn't have been there in the first place - so now i just be very careful to make sure that i haven't split the wool, and have been a lot more successful! (Well, this is just my theory anyway, i could be completely wrong....)

With LS - I read somewhere on another forum, that someone got one from Reece (plumbing people) for a lot cheaper - about $54? Do you reckon that it would be a real LS, or just something similar?

Edit: just went and read the cover knitting thread - i'd listen to their suggestions over mine any day!

Nettie, my GKs inserts are like two hourglass-shaped pieces of bamboo sewn together at one end. HTHs!

Mel, do you mind if I have another go at that nappy beofre posting it back? It didn't get a really good go the other day, not much more than an hour. Please, please say if you need it back ASAP though. Hope you're enjoying telling everyone to pi$$ off and leave you along !

WOHB: sposie, cos he pooed in the only dry BBB and yes, it had a liner in it, but he managed to get poo on the nappy as well. And he didn't even wee in it, what a waste!!!! LOL

With the Green Kids you need to order the inserts seperately from the website....I know this because I just went looking to buy them lol I dont own any so I have no idea what they have sent you, but going from the website, it mentions specifically that the inserts are ordered seperately...

WOHB: Sandman and soaker and babylegs...hopefully going to sleep soon - when she stops bouncing off the walls!

I tend not to buy the GK inserts (nothing wrong with them, I've just had bamboo on hand to make my own is all), but that doesn't sound like the standard GK inserts if it's as wide as an A4 sheet...
Perhaps they're including trifolds/bifolds or something these days, like Mel suggested.
Should still do the job at any rate, if it's bamboo, bifolds are what I use in my GK's. Let us know what they tell you.

Hmm, I might have to try a D'Lish sewn in then. Do we think more absorbent than Magicalls? Apart from our elastic issues, they were absorbent enough for home and non nap times.

Lol at your dh saying you have Fluffy mail Nettie. :P Mine hides my packages in strange places so I stumble across them, like putting them in the fridge or hiding them behind his back while telling me about his day.

Haha Sammi, perhaps I should start a Cover knitters: The Pretenders (all talk, no action, got the tools and not the talent) thread. :P

Ah, need to go the the loo, and that's as good a reason as any to finish my post!

LOL - don't worry about me guys... I didn't realise the GreenKids came without an insert... so the A4 things belonged to the Good Night Sleep Tight nappy. Geez I wish companies would tag their products so I know what goes with what in an order!!!

I've now done an order on NN tonight and have ordered some extra GreenKids inserts to cover myself! ha ha ha - baby brain

So there's another $130 on nappies... Ordered the giraffe minky!! Can't imagine I'll need much more after this!

WOHB - very wet cushie tushie that needs changing into his night nappy (BBB & Wool cover)

GUDISM - that's great the longies have solved your night nappy woes. (i'm not surprised, just glad you have less laundry to do now!).

NETTIE - i agree, it's hard to know what goes with what! the good night sleep tight comes with so many bits! Hope you find something lovely in giraffe minky to put on your bub.

LIMEY - sorry hon, i didn't get your email at all, such a pain when you spend ages typing, and then lose it in cyberspace! I will ahve a think about narrow crotch, fitted nappies. What kg is your bub now? Are you after high or short rise MCN?

PINK - good on you for having a go at knitting a soaker. I think i goggled "learn how to knit" when i wanted to re-learn the basics. but that was not sufficient to make me knit a soaker!!! What the WAHM's charge for woollies is ok with me, i think they are worth it (to make up for me being unable to follow a knitting pattern).

PINK PALACE - The dye coming out of your longies - that is normal - that is why you wash them separately the first time (to note how much dye comes out) and why in the main, i wash ALL our longies SEPARATELY. The amount of dye coming out in the bucket, has never meant that my bub has blue legs in the morning though!

    LANOLISING
You CAN lanolise WITHOUT washing, if you use the SPRAY LANOLIN style of lanolising. e.g sheepish grins at the weewuns. that type of thing. You massage it into the longies with your hands (apparently).

    LITTLE SQUIRT
There were several threads on DIY Little Squirt on Essential Baby tonight. Made up from things you can buy at the hardware shop. The woman who wrote the DIY thread is a hairdresser and did it herself (with pics).

    ALLIPRALLI
in our local Spotlight, normal price for the PRINTED Little Additions is $12.99 and $8.99 for the plain colours. I ahven' been to the latest sale to know the sale prices. I dread going there because bilby gets bored and riots so i spend all my time entertaining/chasing her/containing her - instead of drooling over quilter's cotton like i want to.

Sewing machine update - am considering Husqvarna Viking 116 in theory - must go and play with one in a shop.

ALIOOPS - are the girls still memerised by the drier? LOL

NELLE - sorry, i misunderstood, i thought you meant FOE, my bad.

FJ - what is the abbreviation LJ at Booroi relate to? is it Llamajama ???

If anyone wants to try making FLONGIES, Fairy fabrics is selling a pattern for them.

WOTBB: Sugarpeas nappy cover with sugarpeas nappy insert and wool night booster.

Good luck Melham! Hope it's soon for you!

I'll be support crew member for my bestie tomorrow at 9am - SO EXCITED!!! (it's a scheduled c-section that's why i know when it is).

Gigi I didn't use it today. must do some washing tomorrow though. I have been busy online today (paid for MPM but announcement hasn't been made yet) and then i had to go and collect our second car and then figure out where the anchor points are. And before I knew it, it is now 12:15 am!!!

So I had better get cracking on heading to bed so I can do lots of washing and grocery shopping and cleaning tomorrow, and I have to keep my eye out for the MPM announcement so I can edit my Sig. Night all

I tried out a tots bots cover on Nina last night, and no leaks!! So I'm thinking the BBH wool cover is just a little too small. If only they'd do an xl.
I also had Emily in a fleece cover, and there were no leaks there either. Very happy with that.

nelle - If I had to choose between the 2, I would pick the itti bittis over the magicalls. I've never had a leak with them. And if it's nap time for Emily, then I just boost it with a bamboo booster.

I was telling DH about a LS, he'd never heard of one before, and he got very excited. He forever complaining about how gross it is scraping the poo into the toilet. Honestly, if he had to do it every day he'd get used to it! So that's next on my list of things to buy.
