WOHB - BBB & wool cover (think I need to properly lanolise the longie - it didn't really hold the wetness in. I only used a soap thingy I got from a shop that said it would lanolise - but I'm not so sure! The BB Wool cover seems to do ok though??)
I have used Epsom Salts to make things colourfast, the colour will run at the start but not too much.
Does it matter if I put fabric softner in the rinse when I am washing nappies?

Oh dear Rivlas, Nelle's going to die when she reads your post! NO fabric softener ;) Of course, you haven't done it in the past, have you, you're just wondering for future reference :P Thanks for the Epsom salts tip :)
Rivlas - dont use fab softener, use your epsom salts!! Add them to the fabric softener dispenser adn a bit of water and it works really wel :)
Also, add some lavender or titree oil and it will smell nice too :)

Janie, I'm pretty sure I've told Rivlas before that Australia says NO to fabric softener - but you know, I'm sure the mothers of astrophysicists still don't believe their kids about astrophysics, and mothers of chefs still don't believe their kids about cooking...they have to hear it from someone else. :P
Anyway Rivlas - Australia says NO to fabric softner. If you need any practice washing nappies without fabric softener let me know. ;)

I am madly washing nappies at the moment, we are experiencing something of a crisis since running out of sposies...what happened is, Riv was in mediums, then Si came so we switched to sposies while we sorted ourselves out, and now the sposies are gone, he's definitely a Large, and we don't have enough Large nappies! And Si is hogging all the one sizes...WAIT! I just remembered I have a pile of pockets that Riv was playing in the other day...phewf! That'll buy me some more time. :D

Hello all, long time no chat. have been trying to recover my house and family after selling our business :-)
Trying very hard not to run over to the itti site - so very tempting. Our latest addition is the BG one size AIO which isn't to bad (even for a velcro nappy) I'm loving AIO at the moment as I can't be bothered stuffing at the moment.
Also feeling a bit of a fraud as we aren't using cloth overnight at the moment:redface: Ari is a dreadful sleeper and we have decided to eliminate the cloth issue. Unfortunately it has made a big difference - only waking 1-2 times at night instead of 6 and it is nice not to have to change her in the middle of the night to help her settle. I'm hoping once she is out of the routine we can try cloth again.

re the longies with dye running. ever since we started using longies, what i read in care instructions has said "always wash separately", so i have done that. Dye runs to varying degrees, but as it's in ONE of our buckets, on it's lonesome, no damage done.
Nettie - unless the lanolin is completely dissolved, like in BOILING OUT DA KETTLE type hot water, i don't get me no waterproof longies. But if i use the boiling water and ALL the lanolin dissolves - BINGO. Plus i got told to turn the longies INSIDE OUT before i dunk them. forgotten why it's better, but it is! (results wise).
a BP stands for a BERRY PLUSH. brand of minky cover that many clothies like to pat, alot! see the pretty embroidered ones at baby soft landing, nappy bucket, nurture nappies etc.

Wooly queens! Question, I just washed & soaked in vinegar the LJ longies. I have just finished rinsing them & gave them another hand wash ( I just use J&J baby wash) They still have that sticky lanolised feel to them so do you think I need to re lanolise them or they should be ok? I think I over lanolised them first time as they were pretty stick & even had bits in places LOL. I think I should be safe to just leave them as is now but just want to check.
eta - Ness, your knitting looks to be coming along nicely, how did you go doing the ribbing k2p2 rather then k1p1?

I bought 3 IB of a lady that had them on ebay only to have ebay take them down cause of their stupid polocy. Lucky I emailed her yesterday and said if they did to email me and I'd get them. One of the IB's is a mottled green one...cant wait to see it and the other 2 are d'lishes. im prewashing my BBH's atm...I forgot how soft and lush the bamboo one's feel when you first get them

I feel so empty!! I just put on a 'load' of nappies - all 3 of them :( It was so depressing! The poor washing machine even sobbed as I turned it on with water mark 'LOW'!! poor little washing machine, I htink he came away from that experience with severe self-esteem issues!
So hope this rash goes away soon! I think by tomorrow it should be gone, night use sposise overnight for a few more days jus tot make sure, but should be in cloth again tomorrow day time! :)

WEll i did my first strip wash this morning not sure if i did it correctly .
I put in a squirt of detergent and did a hot wash (FJ - my tank said max 70degrees)
and it didnt bubble at all
So i did another squirt of different dishwashing liquid and it bubbled initially and there were no bubbles in the rinse or sink... so did a 2nd rinse to be sure after.
HOpefully it is all out.
I cant believe how smelly hemp gets.
Anyhow drying now!

I didn't relanolise them. Im actually emailing the store I bought them because I noticed that one leg seemed wider then other so I counted & yep, its about 5 stitches wider! Being such a thick ply wool that makes a big difference to the end result. Just waiting for a reply. Im not happy. $55 including postage & I honestly think its no better a job then I could have done. Hopefully we can sort something out with the store.

Also, keep an eye out, I think I may be doing another stash cull soon, lots of girls fitted that may need to move on, I think Isla may be out growing the rise!

ETA: I don't use anything for Si Jols, and I only do for Riv if it's going to be on him for a loong time, like a nap or overnight. Remember that Bamboo Terry is trimmer than Bamboo Fleece - that's why I LOVE the size 1's for a newborn, and can use the size 2's from when they're about 4 or 6 weeks.

I don't have any velcro size 1's, the velcro shouldn't get in the way - if you have a small bub and feel you need to fold the front down, you can use a snappi - that's what I do with the size 2's, just fold the front down and use a snappi. :)

Need some advice, I ordered some nappies from a well known supplier a while back, they took ages to come and when I did finally get them I only got 2 I ordered 3. Sent an email telling them and she said she would send another this was about 3 weeks ago, she sent an email over a week ago to say she was sending the next day, still havent received it, so I sent her an email last night just asking wether she could track it ect as I havent recieved it but I havent had a reply to the email yet. How long should I wait for a reply, and what is general company rules regarding this if a cust doesnt receive them.

SO, I got fluffy mail today! My CT starter Kit! 1 denim couture, 1 black basix, 1 white blue and purple soaker, business cards, pass it on cards, and address labels! I think Em will be wearing the denim nappy to CC tomorrow if DH remembers! or she can wear it with a dress to church on Sunday. I am going to have a fiddle with my home made baby legs and see if I can get the top to hug nicely.Maybe if I put some elastic in there and hem them....
I also got some hard mail, my Maybe Baby from Ebay bargain! lets hope I caught the egg this month and wasted that $30 inc potage!
I also got a bit of washing done today so I have a couple of clean nappies! now I just need the pockets to dry coz the boosters went in the dryer.
WOEB: Wriggleybumz Night nappy with Nessa cover instead of WB cover. WB doesnt stay snapped and I think the lady bought it from got the size wrong. she said it was a large and it is very snug on Em on the loosest setting! maybe If #3 is a girl (lets hope not but as long as it's healthy) it would work on a smaller body.
