NOw when ever i am behind an old lady walking slow i say to myself..."take your time!!!! take your time!!!" lol

Big hugs to FJ! i hope you are ok. i will be on msn soon if you need a vent!

Question - if you wool wash and forget to rinse then lanolise straight away will it work - or do i need to take them out of the lanolise soak, re rinse and re lanoilise?

what do people find best in a wet bag, zipper, snap or drawstring closure?
Teh BBH one reallt seems to big to be practical as a every day wet bag. I was thinking of looking for something else. Just wanted to know what poeple found wokred well for them or if you prefered a perticular closure...

FJ - I've got a jam tots one, good size, zip closure. I think that's best to keep the smell contained IMO. I'm looking at getting a bigger one though, just for when DS is at MIL's place when I go back to work. I don't know if the jam tots will hold a whole day's worth of nappies.

Hello there all you MCN queens !!! I need some help!!!!

I am expecting bub nos 1 and keen to give the cloth nappies a go - done a little reading on MCNs but actually feel more confused the more I look
"this is probably where a lot of people give up and think it is too hard and go to disposables...right??"
Anyone in the group able to point me in the right direction - websites...forums so i can make a decision and pull my finger out and make a decision on what to buy for bub.

I am thinking of going part time cloth and part time disposable...
I probably will be back at work (3 days) when bub is about 4 or 5 months old..
Thinking so far about - flats/ prefolds when new born and then going onto pocket nappies when older???

    Input/advice is very very welcome...

    Hi AnnaBelle!

Pockets and AI2s are VERY easy to use, and most of them can go in the dryer. always read the care instructions first though all of mine can. AI2's are cheaper in the long run IMHO than pockets, because you have to pay for the absorbent bits seperately.

There are lots of good brands, but there are some dodgy ones too, and unfortunately when you are new to MCN, it is hard to tell the difference. Nurture Nappies and Darlings Downunder are good, WAHMnaps are good, any member with a shop in their sig is good (if they have nappies ) be careful with Ebay, some ofthe worst ones are on there, but there are also some good ones, so ask before buying. ALWAYS if you are using pockets, get more inserts than nappies! sometimes you will need double bppsting, sometimes your boosters may take ages to dry.

My girls are only part time in cloth, but i dont buy the sposies, they use them at childcare. so when they are home they have cloth on.

Hi Annabelle - sounds like you have a pretty good handle on things and yes everyone feels the same when they start out but it doesn't take long before your an expert. great sites are the australian nappy network (not sure what the rules are on links anymore) modernclothnappies dot org nappycino dot com are great info site for shopping there are a number in the BB market place and the big stores are nurture nappies, darlingsdownunder, nappy bucket, baby blossom, natures cradle and I'm sure there are some new ones too, I'm a bit out of the loop.

Christy - looking forward to catching up, we are staying northside in Strathpine but I'm armed with a car, GPS and kids who have never expereinced brisbane traffic so travelling will be a fun experience for us all :-)

Not sure who the other brisbanites were - pink palace? My gosh you gals chat so much I've forgot but would love to catch up with you all. Should we try and set a date time now? I'm happy to work around everyone as we are planning nothing but our reunion on the 27/28th September

FJ - fellow cancerian here hugs to you!

Ari has discovered the most revolting thing today! she can reach in the leg area of her nappy and pull out poo! OMG 3 times this evening caught her with her hands in her business - YUCK

Got to go, meant to be studying eek

Thanks for the advice on the swim nappies ladies...I will hunt around, maybe just start off with some of the disposable ones and maybe order 1 or 2 MCN ones (good excuse to buy more MCN's while I'm at it )

Hi laranna - we had 2 mcn ones but we swim everyday from about Oct - Apr. We haven't used dis with DD but did use them with DS and I can honestly say the MCN ones hold a lot more then the disp ones when it comes to the first 8mths or so and those runny poos OMgosh. Ari has soiled her swim nappies a couple of times and we just rinse them off and away we go again. We have only used the imse vimse ones so I can only vouch for them but they are great.
