Oh Ali  I'm so sorry hun :comfort:
Nnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
Sorry to hear Ali, take it easy, and all the best for more good news down the track.
Maz, that's funny that Vy says Pwaawwww, that's probably going to be the only thing holding us back with TT, Riv's communication, he's still not talking. So that could make it tricky. Hopefully by Summer he'll be saying some things, might think about speech therapy if he's not saying anything by 2 and a half maybe?
WORB: Itti D'lish (snap in)
WOSB: GK about to be changed, if he's awake!
Thanks Girls. It has been a pretty emotional day :(
But I did get a massive delivery of fluffy mail! My 24 Cushie Tushies!! plus 10 bamboo foldups, and in another satchel, 2 cute tooshies. And Em got a birthday pressy in the mail. So 26 nappies in the mail today.
Well It's official. this week had been like the contents of a dirty nappy. I hope there is no more nastiness to come!!!
:hug: Ali. Next week has got to be a better week for you. Did you hear back about the Job?

WOHB Sposie ready for bed.
Ali - sorry to hear darl
Mel - I use the same fold for flats regardless of the size, the flanny ones are much easier if using the fold I emailed you.
Also if anyone is on the lookout for flanny flats I found some in Kmart today, they are $10.99 for a packet of 6
WOHB - flat

Man you girls chat a lot it takes up all my BB time just getting to the end of each days chatting :-)
Christy -I know what you mean! Grrr it's taking all my strength not to go shopping *must not shop, must not shop* I can't even sneak nappies in anymore and say they are samples :-):
Its bad coming in here man... thats why I don't post as much.I want more
Ali - hugs to you! How did you go with the job?
Maz - woohoo for finishing your stocking!
Annabelle - as some of the other ladies have said it really is best to try a few different ones before buying lots of the same one. We love our Bumg one size pockets version 3 and yes they fit from birth to toilet training.... however my DD started undoing the velcro on these at nine months :-) so I had to sell them. We recently bought one of the one size AIO which is nice (good now that's winter and her nappies are under pants but I really don't know how they would go on a newborn or on the smaller settings - has anyone else tried these? The sized AIO (ie sm, med, lar) are great but you have to buy these in each size which I found frustrating until DD was in a large size. As for peapods, one of the first nappies we ever bought and it did well but DD out grew it by 12wks whch was disappointing :-(
Are we allowed to post here when we put stuff on ebay?
Ren for creams - Ari rarely gets nappy rash and I alternate between plant essentials cornflour with calandula and chamomile and healing hippos botom balm (the old style without zinc) Other stuff we have here which we have used occassionaly is Baby bottom better balm my mother earth which is non petroleum based.
Better go hubby has just come home from work and I'm supposed to be making lunches for tomorrow :-)
Maz, only 1 of them was for a customer. 25 Cushies arrived, 24 for me, 1 for a customer  I have sorted them and put them in the crates. I dont usually do much prewashing, I know that these have been washed a few times before sewing so I know they will take a bit to begin with but they do last for the girls. I always fold and snap the nappies as small as they go, so NB size, and then I was like, well that wont be for at least 10 months :(
Oh and Maz, please stop making me cry! I know u love me! It is definitely not implantation though. Next month, next month.
I wont be on much tomorrow, if I can help it. I have to make birthday cakes for Em. I picked up the mixes from the health food shop today and have to have at least one done for tomorrow night, and 2 for sunday. i also need to do some knitting  sorry Ness
WOSB, Cushie tushie caramel minky with added bamboo booster and Ali soaker
WOEB, Cushie tushie baby blue minky with added bamboo booster and LochNessMadness fleece cover. i NEED to get all my knitting done! I have 1 and a half pairs of longies and a soaker to do for swaps before I can do my own :o
ETA: My contact at the temp firm couldnt get in contact with her contacts at the CBA due to major meetings today (The job has something to do with home loans, so the meeting were probably about the hype with the interest rates), will find out tomorrow.
Anna, if you go to the ozclothnappies website (it has dot org but no au on the end) you will find a great link called FAQ (Freq asked questions). Reading that section is a wonderful intro for a newbie.
a fitted nappy needs a waterproof cover
a pocket nappy - majority have a waterproof outer (so no cover)
an all in one or all in two nappy - all have waterproof outer (so no cover)
the peapods are a POCKET nappy (waterproof outer so no cover needed).
the Bumgenius are currently made as
- sized All in ones (no cover needed)
- one size fits all pocket nappy (no cover needed, and sold WITH an insert)
Microfleece is a fabric you buy from SPOTLIGHT to make
- nappy liners (lay inside a fitted nappy to keep bottom dry)
- as the inner for pocket or aio nappies (to keep bottom dry)
Microfleece is not absorbent, so you don't make inserts/boosters out of it.
For inserts, boosters etc, you need ABSORBENT fabric, e.g bamboo, hemp, which spotlight do not sell (we wish they did!!!).
Go to nappycino website *just google for it* and you'll see a great DIY section, DIY Sewing Nappies, DIY Knitting MCN covers, all sorts of really practical help.
I would recommend you buy a Mixed Package, so you get to try
- a pocket nappy
- a fitted and cover
- a AIO
Nurture Nappies, Darlings Downunder and Baby Blossom are three MCN websites that have these. Until you know what is out there, and what you like to use, what suits your bub, it's a lottery to buy bulk of products you don't know yet. MCN is real "proof is in the pudding" type of stuff. Ya gotta try it out on your bub before you know what end is up. So easy to get carried away with cheap deals and pretty fabrics.
it's alot to get your head around isn't it? don't worry, it's common to feel a bit overwhelmed at the start, you'll get there.
WOTBB: dh did the night nappy ensemble, prolly a whizz kidz nightz and a woolly soaker. i didn't think dh would like the woollies cos of the drawstring (big man hands) but he thinks they are great.
Suse, the ONLY pale coloured woolly bilby has, is a natural coloured DIsana pullup - only cos the coloured ones weren't being sold in Aust when i bought ours! I would LOVE to dye it purple!!! How is Mr Chirpy doing?
Alioops - i don't know all the right abbreviations, but i hope you are able to conceive soon, i know how bad you want this.
Happy birthday on Saturday for Emma!
Maz - so did all the sewing this week help? did it make you feel betterer?
Christy - once i worked out the type of nappies that suit bilby, so much temptation just WENT OUT THE DOOR. cos i would get on this thread, people would mention sales about brands i know don't suit bilbs, so immed - no more temptation. It focussed me (working out what suits her).
i wonder if there is/needs to be a TOILET TRAINING MCN thread? Like when bilby gets into TT and i start being obsessed by MCN trainers, where do i post about that? Or is here the place? At the moment, i just look, really shouldn't buy until she starts, so i know which size to buy.
Pink Palace - what sort of wool did you make your shorties out of? was it 100% or majority wool? which ply? I'm racking my brains to think why your shorties are not waterproof.
Did the lanolin all dissolve? How long did you leave the shorties soaking in the solution?
I actually saw 100% wool on sale for something crazy like $3 tops per skein, big w or kmart, somewehre like that, i was amazed. i thought only acryllic wool was that cheap.
FJ - what's the latest on your LlamaJama longies?
Ali huge
 Ali, sorry to hear of your loss. Good luck with the CBA job. I too will be busy between now and Sunday baking cakes. We're having Nina's party on Sunday.
gig i- they are 100% wool 12 ply. I think it is a nappy absorbancy problem... as you could seriously squeeze wee outr if you tried from the nappy - i guess the soaker can only take so much.
:(
Ok. I'm going nappy shopping online this weekend and have in mind to get:
itti Bitti (so I know what all the fuss is about!)
Another wool cover (the BB one doesn't fit so well anymore)
Another PUL cover (Motherease rikki probably)
More minky!!!
Any suggestions??
Ali sorry to hear of your loss.
Gigi - thank you for your advice - I think I am getting it!!
I guess you just need to find the website that explains it best - then the penny drops a bit !! baby beehinds was quite clear in their explanation of things so i dont feel as dumb as i did before.
Many thanks
Anna
Well i went to talk to CC about Ashley starting next week and had the CLOTH talk!
At first the manager was hesitant and asked me to buy disposables then i spoke to the director and she is Pro-cloth and said it is fine.
Their policies are though:
Staff do not rinse, scrape or clean solied Cloth nappies - they will be placed in a bag the same way they come off bubs bum.
THey said if the pop will shake off and doesnt need to be touched they will attempt this but any contact is not happening!
Is this the same with most of your cc?
WOHB - BBB +PUL
PP same as our child care but because one of the ladies is pregnant and going to be using MCN she practices with Coopers, I try to send different nappies each time so she can see what she likes and doesnt like, he has that beautiful black minkee today and a Bum g and a fitted with a cover and a coupl of AIO.
WOHB one of the above
PP - I would expect ours to be the same. Once I get more pockets I will start sending DS in cloth.
Nettie - good choices :) I'm thinking of getting more IB's too.. hehe
Thanks girls! :)
Love that black minkee MelH
GUdism! - i have 7 pockets for Day care (she only goes once a week starting next week)... they will be my daycare nappy! :)
PP i find that interesting, ask them how they remove the waste from the sposies!!! do they go into the normal garbage or do they have them collected by special waste people!
for all of you thinking of getting more Itti's there are about 4 on b4b atm. :D
lol you are evil on our pockets melham!
I would say they dont dispose of the poo they would just roll it up in the nappy and throw itin the bin!
Gigi, LJ are going nicely. I haven't needed to wash or soak anything yet as I bought spray lanolin as well so not sure if the new ones will run but its ok if they do as its a solid colour.
Isla really likes the new ones.
PP, I wouldn't expect, would actually insist that the CC workers just roll up & bag my cloth nappies as is. I would rather deal with it later at home, that way I know it was done right LOL.
I would however ask them how they deal with poo in a sposie, point out that its illegal to toss poo in the bin
lol - you girls want me to be thrown out for arguing befor dd even starts! lol
BUt i would say this is what they are doing. I had a sneak peak and none of the other bubs baskets had cloth so i am happy they will accomodate me! :) would hate to have to go through the whole search for a day care centre again!
afternoon ladies...
well i got 'kinda' fluffy mail yesturday... if you call BBH PUL covers fluffy mail :P am now waiting on another Itti bitti to arrive (peppermint medium) i am sooo in love with the ittis, i can't wait to have a lil bum to put them on.
Question....
i intend on using flanny flats on NB bub will the small BBH PUL covers be small enough for a NB or not??
Fluffy Mail!! Thanks Maz  after my wash load is dry, you may have something if you want it. I have a BBB that popped a snap, so no use to me, but you can have it!
We are all sickies here. The GP said to give Jovie cough syrup so she could sleep, but its caused diarrhoea. Yuck, so her nappies are lovely atm.
Gigi - I'm with you, I'll have to start thinking about training pants etc... the one thing is we have some size 3 "undies" that are terry & have extra layering in the middle. They leak like mad when there is a wee, but thats what we used with Matilda. I think we may still use them with Jovie.
WOHB: BBB & PUL cover.
Katones i am doing the same - i guess it depends on how big bub is lol
Jols - package headed your way babe
Ali - sorry to hear your news...hopefully you won't have to wait much longer.
thanks chicken!
PINK - i found great info about MCN and chilcare centres on the Bubblebubs site. It gives you links to the relevant Children's Service Act in your state. I printed that out and also the "What is in a Disposable" link on the Nurture Nappies site.
had same situation as you, got told NO WAY, but i insisted and then was told, no worries. The day to day staff were brilliant with the MCN, it was the admin staff that had the (initial) problem. As soon as i said "But under the CHildren's Services Act . . . " they folded liek a house of cards.
At our first CCC place, the staff wiped the children with wet flannels.
At our new CCC place, the staff wipe the children with wet paper hand towels.
At both places, they shake whatever they can into the loo (i provide flushable liners) and the rest is rolled up and put inside the wetbag i provide.
She has been the only child in MCN at both places.
So with 12 ply 100% wool, and lanolised, i doubt it could be the shorties. Sounds like the nappy might be the issue. My bub sleeps in 16 layers of bamboo, sounds alot doesn't it?
What fabric is the 12 layers your bub is in?
Katones - expecting a bub, it's hard to know EXACTLY what size they will come out, so i would suggest you have a few different sized covers in prep - to work it out when bubs arrives. Just don't wash them all, keep tags on, so if you try them on and discover they're too small for your purpose, you can exchange/get refund etc. This is much simpler if you have NOT washed the product, and only briefly tried it on.
AnnaBelle - baby beehinds site is esp good at explaining the wash n care routine. There's alot to take in at the start of the MCN journey.
WOTBB: she's at childcare today, so when i left her at 1pm, she was in a PUL Swaddlebees pocket with cotton velour inner. Sidesnaps.
For the childcare worker, i label the front of the nappies (with a label that says FRONT). LOL. Otherwise they get put on back to front.
