Hi Bek! What I like for Riv (almost 2) - Itti Bittis, BerryPlush (I only ever buy these on sale though!). I suspect he's getting a bit big for GK's but many kids wear those to TT, his baby bro wears all the BumG's so can't comment on those recently, our Gadimal pockets are ace but hard to find.
We don't go wrong with fitteds and covers - Tots Bots or Baby BeeHinds with covers.
(The one/flexible sized ones like GK's, BumG's, Tots Bots or BBH's will do your other kids too)

Do you find the BG inserts for their pockets are absorbant enough.. i think it is purely microfibre?
Hi Bekz - I am a huge fan of Bumwear pockets, although I think I am actually the only one in this thread that uses or likes them!! They are OSFM & you can stuff 'em with anything I imagine, they come with a microfibre insert. They are my number 1, then bbh (like PinkPalace0 then it's a tie btwn ittis & swaddlebees. We too just got some large ittis, my DD is just gone 7months & they fit her nicely, she still has M & fits it but I don't know for how much longer!
Bek I'd get more itti's! Caleb is in larges and has plenty of room to grow still and he's about 14 kilos. Their shape changes a lot once they are up and walking. Caleb is smaller in the bum and wider in the hips which is why they still fit him well.
PP yes but only for short wears. I'd never put him to sleep in one or do a long car trip.
what about Green Kids - do you think them anyone

PP - I think they are really absorbant actually - I usually tell DH to put DS in one for his day naps (bout 2 hours)...
and I love my GK on DS .. haven't tried them on DD yet cos I only have two.... (and one of those I use for nighttime)

QM, I have 1 Bumwear, and I like it except that the booster it came with is only 3 layers of microfibre and I have to put something else in there.
PP, I can use a bumgenius insert for a couple of hours on Miss Wee (Sarah) when she has to be in a nappy, like on the way home or to a place within an hour drive.
Sammi, I hear you on Cars!!! The service place has accepted full fault because NONE of the 90,000km service was done when it was signed off, so they r paying for all of it! then we are getting it serviced properly and paying for That. so $2600 turns into $200, Phew!
I just got offered a job with the commonwealth bank (which bank?) starting on Monday! lets hope I definitely get it!! It is customer service with surveyors ect, talking about home loans! No sales involved, so like reception, but without the walk in customers!

Queen Mabel - the thing with drying woollies is, you need to dry them "flat in the shade". So if the person Pink was buying from, had been drying the large cover in the sun, it is possible that they may have shrunk.

one of you asked about buying one of different brands?
The cheapest way to do that, is to go to one of the bigger nappy websites like
- the weewuns
- nurturenappies
- baby blossom
- babysoftlandings
- darlingsdownunder
etc
and buy one of each sort you are interested in, some of these sites have a cap on the postage. so whether you buy one or sixteen nappies, you pay the same post price e.g $5 or something.
ANother way to try a variety, is to buy a MIXED PACKAGE.
three stores i have seen, do these.
so for one price, you get to try e.g
= a pocket nappyy
- an all in one nappy
- a fitted and cover
plus sundry extras like a wetbag, very useful for outings
the stores i have seen this offr at are:
- nurture nappies (under packages)
- baby blossom (under packages)
= darlingsdownunder (Poppit's Pick)
That way you get to try out the various styles, work out
- what fit you like on your bub
- what style you like
- how long things take to dry
- what sort of closures you find the easiest
- what different brands look like IRL
THis experiment/road test - will stand you in good stead for deciding future purchases.
i would not go buying dozens of any product until you know it suits your baby and suits you (for ease of putting on, drying time etc).
Leave the buying of the bulk packs until you KNOW product X is a winner for YOUR child.
(money is a scarce commodity to me, so i'm assuming it is to you too).

Hey Mel, I think it's just that Magicalls don't work on some. They're horrible on Alexander too.. They fit him fine when they should have been too big but now he's the right weight we end up with a flood.:
Ash - you might be right. We'll have to see. I think I've washed them 3 times but maybe they need a couple more washes for absorbency?? They fit fine on DS and both kids are built very similar... (ie, LONG waist, no hips or butt to speak of)
FJ - your nappy did brilliantly love... might have to get some more ;)

I realised going through my stash that I really need more daycare friendly nappies. I have lots of nappies, but none really day care friendly.. need more bum G's I think... plus I also realised how many nappies that I don't really like on DS. I tried to sign up for that B4B website, but something happened and I can't log in.. says it won't let me or something... hmmmm.... I'm thinking of selling some so I can buy more BumG's and Green Kids..

Gudism - hemp needs up to eight washes for absorbency to work up, but i don't think Magicalls have any hemp in them.:
(just checked the product specs, no hemp in the Magicalls).

Heya girls...question - got a new front loader and never used one before. Washed nappies this morning and wasn't sure which cycle to choose...went with 'delicate synthetics' - does that sound about right? Most of my nappies are BumG, have a few Baby Kangas with bamboo GK inserts and a few BBH and now two IBs...not all synthetic materials but mostly?? :dunno:
