Suse, what is Euan doing in your cartoon avatar? Looks like he is photographing your nipple at close range!!!

Yes, EVERYTHING is washed at 60 degrees, including minky and PUL. No bad side effects in 21 months.

I sprinkle sleeping fairy dust and lots of bonjella (!!), all over Euan, so you can sleep longer than four hours (can you hear the jewerelly box music playing Brahm's lullaby?)

ALIOOPS - sounds like your fluffy spree was fun, isn't it nice to not have to chase the dry washing? to actually have enough on hand?

I'm in search of Size 2 envelope neck tops if anyone has any ideas who sells these (for a bilby with a big noggin).

I've just signed up for the next great down under nappy hunt, it begins September 1st. And Real Nappy Week coming up in October. Few big MCN months coming up.

FIONA - i just looked up MCN care instructions on the bits for bots site, here is part of it cutnpasted
I do not recommend the use of any sanitising soakers or whiteners as they can shorten the life of the elastic in the nappy.
So i guess boosters don't have elastic, so you would be ok?
Avoid adding vinegar to washes containing PUL nappies as this has been known to degrade the waterproof laminate.

THought i'd put that here too, as every so often people ask about vinegar and washing MCN>

I wouldn't put it past him Gigi! Actually, I don't know what it is he is doing, but it does look a bit dodgy.

Well, the sleeping dust must have worked because after one false start he is now asleep. Take two on going to bed...

That's why I advocate the dishwashing detergent strip wash method!

Maz honey it's good to know that I'm not the only one who's little darlings play up when I'm on the phone only to show no interest in me seconds after I hang it up

Suse hope Euan let you have a full night of slumber

Ali get cracking with the knitting so you have some spares They shouldn't take too long to dry if you roll them up in a towel sausage style and squeeze the water out. I stand on it and then repeat in a second towel then let them dry flat somewhere reasonably warm. Should only take a day or two.

QM poor little pumpkin Hope her butt is peachy again quickly.

Ness hope the dryer repair isn't too exxy!

A bit of excitement for me Mason has FINALLY been having some dry nights! Not every night but 4 so far this week and he did 3 in a row. He's rather pleased with himself too. And just when I was going to try him in cloth again (he refuses to wear cloth, takes them off).

Question - how do you stop the backspray from the little squirt hitting your face, leg, arm or toilet seat (and then the wall...) I only press down halfway and I have the nappy IN the toilet and we can't release any more water pressure - already takes half an hour to fill the cistern again!!!

And whoever thinks sposies are better than cloth cos they don't leak are sorely mistaken... we had a blow out by little miss in a sposie!!!!!!!!!! who wouda thunk it...

Why doesn't the whole world use cloth.... stumps me!!!

    Just a quick one...

Ali - I got a lovelybums wool cover from nurturenappies and have had to wash it 3 times (because of poo leakage from his night nappy which I just discovered is a size too big for him) and I found that once I roll it in a towel and hang it in the loungeroom to dry overnight - it's ready by the next night.

Was only $32 too... bargain I say!

I have a mantra: BRING ON SUMMER... having a heck of a time drying nappies (and I absolutely refuse to put them in the dryer for 3 hours every time I wash...) so much so that we're running down to the last nappy before the next ones are dry. Got fluffy mail on the way though so hopefully I'll have some more lee-way.

WOHB - BBB & PUL (all I had left!)

    hi girls!
well i have just been given a bubblebub in small for #2 and wooooohoo it is gorgeous! Why have i not seen these b4

Gudism - re: wool - i use 12 ply (i know different thread but you get that)... and you will have to let your toliet fill for an hour lol... it is the best way to reduce the spray back and i also hold the nossle practically touching the nappy!

Arrrrrgh - NOOOOOOOO! I think I'd prefer he was taking pervy photos of my boobs!!!

    Sam - YAY for Mason!!

    Welcome back Kaz!

Gudi - I wrote a blow by blow how-to for a LS a while ago - let's see if I can find it...

    ETA: Found it:

My take on the Little Squirt is to angle nappy slightly downwards and hold low in the bowl so that the spray is deflected away from walls, face, etc. (A good idea is to practice with a non pooey nappy). It also helps to turn down the pressure on the tap until it can be fully depressed at a suitable pressure. SLOWLY depress the trigger. I use a lighter pressure to start with, then fully depress the trigger on the really stubborn bits. You can get to full pressure without spraying if you go slowly. No sudden movements. Definitely go slow near your leg elastic, as the bunchy bits will deflect the spray in all sorts of odd directions. For poo, I squirt my pockets with the insert still inside, and the nappy folded in half - it is less likely to spray if I use full pressure and I can hold the nappy lower in the bowl.

Euan didn't sleep through - down at half past midnight, up at 5:00, back down at 6:30, up again at 7:45. BUT - DP got up with him this morning, gave him breakfast and hung out with him and I got to sleep in till 10:30!! Bliss.

And even better, he'd made a big start on assembling/stuffing the huge pile of nappies - did all the pockets, figured out the Cute Tooshies and was wondering what the heck to do with the rest of them when I woke up. Yay for him!!

    Hi katones

Generally the more the material is washed the more absorbant it is, so it may be worth washing them again?

I wouldn't wash it again, but only have it on an hour or so. I'm impatient like that
