lol kaz! you snealy thing! lol
That cover was new btw! i had only washed it and lanolised it.

Me thinks 'snealy' is a much cooler word than 'sneaky'!!

    Ah crud, baby calling, BBL....

Well I got another 3 BBB from MPVW so they're on the way...

Managed to get the huge pile of MCN washed & on the line this morning. Finished them off in the dryer so they weren't all stiff and scratchy.

So thanks to the Tax man I have a wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket!
This means I it's time to buy my stash of MCN's! Bout time I say.

I am thinking of buying one of each that I have had my eye on and some covers.
This should give me a good idea of what works best on my bub and then I can go buy a whole stack more of the ones that fit him/her best.

    So here is my list

Is this for a newborn stash?

MOTHEREASE COVER - what will you put under the cover? fitteds, flats, prefolds???

BBH OSFA - a fitted nappy

    BBH Minkee - an AIO

Bum genius - the OSFA Pocket or the sized AIO?

Green Kids - a OSFA pocket - it's worth getting the greenkids bamboo boosters that fit this perfectly and can be used in other pockets too

Berry Plush - a sized AI2 or are you just going to get it as the cover? if money is an issue, i'd start with the medium size, you'll get more wear out of that size

Itti bitti - i'd get an itti bitti boo (fitted) small for a newborn, an itti bitti dlish AIO in medium for later

Sugarpeas cover - wool or malden mills fleece? wool means handwashing and lanolising, malden mills fleece is "chuck in the washing machine" and dries in 30 mins

sugarpeas nappy - do you mean the snap in insert for the cover, that makes it an A12? they['re good, clever design means they dry fast.

haute - Haute pocket? there are two types, normal and the breathable. I have been reading about wicking issues with the breathable ones. Just wot i heard.

With that list, i reckon you could get the majority, if not all of that from one site (nurture nappies or weewuns) which would cut down on your postage expenses heaps. NN has a $5 flat postage fee, not sure what WW's is.

and I am about to go and buy and few covers and things from Maz that I have been looking at doing for ages, just haven't had the $$.

oh yes, the pretty covers! don't you just love the names she comes up with for them!

Take a look at the mazalicious prefolds especially, you can use them as the nappy on a newborn, then use them as pocket stuffers in the stages after newborn. So very useful product, you'll be using them until bubs toilet trains. Prefolds don't sound very glamorous, but they are the Quiet Achievers (in combination with a good cover), soak up heaps of wee, keeping your lap, lounge, car seat etc dry! so i reckon that is good.

Does that sound like a good start??

excellent - but not knowing what you're putting under the covers, JIC you don't have anything yet, i would suggest prefolds/trifolds. You just fold them in three, and lay them in a cover. too easy.

    Should I get anything else?

    • wetbag for outings, zippered one
    • a nappy bag that will fit cloth nappies, most in the shops are designed for disposable nappies
    • nappy rash salve
    • clothes airer for drying
    • sensitive or unperfumed, low enzyme washing powder for washing the MCN (not the full strength stuff you wash clothes with)
    • nappy bucket
    • cloth wipes (or cotton velour flannels) instead of baby wipes
    • portable nappy change mat for outings
    • nappy free time mat (mattress protectors by swaddlebees at weewuns for e.g)
    • half a metre of MICROPOLARFLEECE (Little Additions) at Spotlight, to cut up in liners for the fitted nappies and the prefolds, no sewing required, helps for easy cleanup
    • Look at a Little Squirt (Nurture Nappies has a listing for those)

and for you at birthing time

    • cloth breastpads (mazalicious has those too)
    • cloth postpartnum pads (see noonee wilga at theclothpadshop)

mums deserve some nice fluff too!
so hth - bearing in mind, i have no idea what you have already, so i could EASILY be way off the mark. Oh well, it was fun vicariously spending someone else's money! After 21 months, i know what i would do next time, but they ain't gonna be a next time for me, so i'll live out my fantasy by helping you instead LOL.

WOTBB: whatever night time combo dh chose from teh Night Nappies basket (i leave them all set up e.g fitted night nappy with longies). bilby was so whingy today, when dh came home, i just handed her over - i'd had enough. it's 12.53 and my ears are still ringing from her crying today. I burst into tears, on the phone to Centrelink and she went HYSTERICAL. Only 2nd time she's ever seen me cry. Same reaction the first time too.

so hth - bearing in mind, i have no idea what you have already, so i could EASILY be way off the mark. Oh well, it was fun vicariously spending someone else's money! After 21 months, i know what i would do next time, but they ain't gonna be a next time for me, so i'll live out my fantasy by helping you instead LOL.

That's why I am asking you ladies who know what you would do if you had to start over

    So here is my list

Is this for a newborn stash? Yeah, but hoping to make it extend as long as possbile...

MOTHEREASE COVER - what will you put under the cover? fitteds, flats, prefolds??? No Idea lol, would prefolds be the best?? I'm looking for easy here....

BBH OSFA - a fitted nappy

    BBH Minkee - an AIO

Bum genius - the OSFA Pocket or the sized AIO? What do you think, I think I was thinking the OSFA

Green Kids - a OSFA pocket - it's worth getting the greenkids bamboo boosters that fit this perfectly and can be used in other pockets too Will do

Berry Plush - a sized AI2 or are you just going to get it as the cover? if money is an issue, i'd start with the medium size, you'll get more wear out of that size Is there an AIO?, I'm not sure again what I was thinking, probably AI2.

Itti bitti - i'd get an itti bitti boo (fitted) small for a newborn, an itti bitti dlish AIO in medium for later Okay

Sugarpeas cover - wool or malden mills fleece? wool means handwashing and lanolising, malden mills fleece is "chuck in the washing machine" and dries in 30 mins Fleece i think, friend on mine is knitting me a whole heap of longies

sugarpeas nappy - do you mean the snap in insert for the cover, that makes it an A12? they['re good, clever design means they dry fast. I think that's what I meant yes, to go under the cover

haute - Haute pocket? there are two types, normal and the breathable. I have been reading about wicking issues with the breathable ones. Just wot i heard. hmmm okay, is the normal one any good?

With that list, i reckon you could get the majority, if not all of that from one site (nurture nappies or weewuns) which would cut down on your postage expenses heaps. NN has a $5 flat postage fee, not sure what WW's is.

ahh cool I didn't think of that, will order some of them as well.
Does that sound like a good start??

excellent - but not knowing what you're putting under the covers, JIC you don't have anything yet, i would suggest prefolds/trifolds. You just fold them in three, and lay them in a cover. too easy.
I got nothing, starting from scratch I got a few covers from Maz yesterday, that's the first purchase. Might have to invest in some prefolds as well, are they all the same or is there a specific "brand or type"

    Should I get anything else?

    * wetbag for outings, zippered one
    * a nappy bag that will fit cloth nappies, most in the shops are designed for disposable nappies
    * nappy rash salve
    * clothes airer for drying

WOW!!!! Thanks so much Gigi for taking the time to post all that! Very much appreciated. I forgot about a couple things on your list, like nappy bucket lol, be in a spot of bother there heh! Stupid pg brain!

yes, bilby was a whopper then, 3.79kg, just 6gm shy of the lovely Arabella.

i remember people in the hospital telling me "what a big baby" etc, i was puzzled, she was just lovely to me. THen we got home and i was sure (after hearing so many people say "what a big baby" heaps and heaps of times) she would therefore fit into the SMALLS MCN immediately, but no, they were big, and we had to go and buy the NB sized stuff. Even for my "big baby" (go figure).

i missed you FJ, but this thread goes in fits and starts. some days it's SOOO busy, other times it's like a graveyard and i just figure, people are busy, got sick kids, hossy appointments (looks at all the preg mummies) etc. it evens out in the end. but glad you have got a WELL keyboard now.

MAZ - bum about those APLIX sb's - poop and double poop to that. i could spit, but that would make a mess so i wont'.

WHen i pick up bilby from childcare (and she's the only one there in MCN), i notice she's one of the FEW kids who, by the end of the day, is STILL wearing the same trousers e.g no leaks from HER nappies. he he, i bet the childcare workers have noted that too. They're all quite young, so i hope they remember that when they go on to have kids and buy nappies. (i am brainwashing them into Swaddlebees, cos that's the only brand i send - i'd love to send others but i worry it would confuse them if i sent different types. Took our worker long enough just to work out how to put the pockets on the right way around LOL.

WOTBB: fresh outta tha bath, so about to ahve a Sugarpeas fleece + Sugarpeas insert put on her by dh.

Yeah as I said I was just joking, I hadn't actually made apost in this current thread at all yet anyway. Just had nothing to say LOL.

Get this, I have gained 16 kgs! I can't belive it, Yes Maz, I double checked at the appointment & its right, 16 kgs. I so don't see 16 kg's!

    30 weeks now LOL.

I got fluffy mail today. I got a BBH wool cover in blue (sml, which is pretty big!) & my wooly overalls plus a stack like 15 odd items of bonds clothing. All for those pinni dresses I made. I so got the better end of that swap! LOL Im going to send her another pinni dress Ithink. The express bag was actually stuck in my mail box, I need two hands to pull it out! Now thats fluffy mail! LOL

I scored a STACK of material for $15 in st vinnies today. Gonna make some more pinnis with it. great mix of prints. I love going into this st vinnies & having a rumage, i always come out with something.

Gigi, please take me up on the pockets offer if the materials will suit your bilby.

Haha I had to do a double take at this one too :-)

No nappy news here as DD is in stinky disposables with all the antibiotics she is on and the amount of sleep deprevation I'm on at the moment I can't be bothered with cloth.

I do need to organise these events for reusable nappy week. eek. Have a qu for you gals. we are organising afew events with *hopefully* some of the MCN companies in the area. we want to have a market day and a playgroup in the park but I can't decide whether to split them (have the market day one week and the playgroup the next) or to try and do them on one day???? One one hand if people are travelling for it then the same day would be good but the suppliers and i would like to be at both the market day and the playgroup to mingle? so if you were going to some events what would you prefer, twodays (probably sundays) or one HUGE MCN day?

I would prefer to go to something like that if it was over either one day, or over a weekend (sat & sun).
