We have the weekend off! The girls are staying with my parents so we can do some packing.
We are moving to Townsville!!!!!
DH got a waiver from the army for his psych test because they are desperate for tradies. He has to be up there on the 8th of September!! We only foud out of the possibility on Tuesday, and He signed the paperwork yesterday and resigned from his old job. My resignation will wait till I know exactly when the army are sending all of us up there.
We packed some clothies for my parents but mum said she will see how she goes with them and if she is struggling she will buy sposies. I dont mind because I wont be paying for them.
So we might be able to make the meet after all!!! I will see how I go.
Two kids is hard Mel, I've no idea how people with more manage...hang in there, you haven't even hit 6 weeks with Mehkelti yet, the fog will lift at some stage...
(Christy, it's pinafore apparently, I wonder why people say 'pinni' then!)
Both my kids are in sposies, BUT I'm up to date with the washing!! Can you believe it!! The laundry is EMPTY!!
ali - that's great you're moving up this way! DH & I go to Townsville often throughout the year.
I'm finding the itti bittis a little tight on Emily at the moment. They're usually my favourite nappy for her, but she has so many fat rolls that it's not fitting good enough. And DH's response to that was, 'oh great, more money to spend on nappies' haha! But Nina is doing really well with tt, and has an empty nappy each morning, so I'm thinking she won't be in nappies much longer.
Great news on the TT there Jodi! OMG Ali, that's brill news!!!! Good luck with the packing!
Us - got my GK wetbags from the post office this morning, they are gorgeous. I now have 4 wetbags, so that should rotate nicely, with daycare & all.
DH isn't too happy with the idea of the cleaning lady, he said "do a roster" I told him I did, but couldn't stick to it cause he won't be tidy and tidying takes more time than cleaning.
Anyhows, Pip's down for a nap, BBB with imsevimse cover.
Oh mel hon it does get easier babe..otherwise i wouldnt have gone back for number 3 and 4...(i would have liked number 5 but jed said a firm NO). YOur just at that yucky stage babe..its hard I know but just think of all the wonderful things yourve done...even if its to poop in peace. you should have seen my houselast week...**** I only jsut pulled finger out of rectum and cleaned it PROPERLY since I had Mat and that was almost 8 months ago.
Ness - WTG woman! Have a look in NC. IM pretty sure there is a section about avo in there.
We've just been fathers day shopping....had a ball and spent bugger all just the way I like it
Mel - big hugs honey!. Try to get some fresh air and sunshine I will be able to whinge with you in about 8 weeks! (with 2 under 16 months).... mmmm
As for the detergent. I bit the bullet and have ordered Soapnuts to try with my nappies in the wash. Will let you know how they go. HOping to reduce the buildup of chemical in them by using them.
Well one of my IB seems small.. anyone had problems with shrinkage? Perhaps it is just because it is a second. I wonder what the extra large will be like. I cant wait until summer when i can have DD in them without pants... lol show them off.
I have finished my second shorties and really happy with how it has gone. So i have enough now i think to last DD until toliet training (1 bbh wool, 2 x shorties, 1 x longies). Also Just got some circular needles and will attempt some smaller shorties for 6-12month stage with #2!
Ali - woohoo welcome to Townsville!!! you'll get to meet so many clothies up here! It's really quite contagious. TNB runs articles in the local paper quite often which raises awareness and interest so we have lots of fellow cloth bums to mingle with esp in summer. Let me know when your coming and we can catch up! Oh do you think you'll be here before reusable nappyweek?
Actually bought a box of disposables today and didn't know what size to get - I'm sure I looked an absolute fool in the baby isle with my 8th old trying to work out what nappy to buy.
My Maz covers have been a godsend in hiding my disposable shame that chocolate nappy looked awesome today - woohoo loving the chocolae brown and pink trend at the moment.
Mel - hang in ther you will find your groove soon, remember to take it easy and enjoy this beautiful squishy newborn time
Beatrix there is a published leaflet you can print at modern cloth dot org it's really good. Woohoo for the weight gain and good on you for sticking with the BF!!!!
To everyone with a messy house THANK YOU! It is so nice to hear other peoples places aren't the spotless playgrounds we see in mags and ads. My DH has overinflated ideas of what our house should look like - however he doesn't lift a finger to help :-)
Gotta run, Ari is very unsettled, drugs STILL not working!!! at my wits end
Ali - congrats! Although SA will miss you! Now you just need your and you'll be all set!
Mel - Don't know how it's done with more than one kid... those of you doing this are legends.
Saram - you'd love our place... DH cleaned off the kitchen table today because we were having his sister over for tea. It hasn't been cleared off for at least 6-12 months... He's a model maker (his own business) and he has stuff in most rooms of the house (except bathroom, laundry, toilet & DS's room) - so we have disorganised chaos here! He's gonna have fun when DS starts getting around!
PP - I'm with you honey! Can't wait for summer when I can have DS in his MCN without pants covering them up! I'd love to show them off around here - not many people here use MCN so I'd be a real trend-setter!
Nelle - with the laundry! Feels good doesn't it?? Had to hang DS's clothes inside & tumble dry the MCN today because it was raining I liked having all that sun last week
Ness - for the great RN! Well done on the weight gain too - we've got a small fella here too so I jsut completely ignore the 'should be' parts of the conversations when we see any nursing staff. He's right for him - so what if he doesn't fit a chart? Good on ya girl!
WOHB - Sandman & Lovelybums wool cover (pretty standard night-time fare really!)
P.S - had to edit this post because I had too many smilies... never knew there was a limit!!!
BellyBelly Life Member - Love all your MCN friends

Alioops! wow, that's HUGE news! moving states with two kids, WOW! all the best with the packing. travelling and setting up again in Townsville, sounds like a huge job. but exciting too, Townsville sounds lovely, coastal, great weather etc. But SA will miss you!
Jodie - how many rolls does Emily have on her legs? by four months, bilby had THREE massive rolls on each thigh - we got to the point where front closing nappies were just not cutting it for us, and got better results wiht side snappers. At 11 months old she crawled, the rolls started falling off, walking at 14 months, only one roll since then.
Beautrix - great news about your wonderful nurse today, how refreshing to have her make an assessment in context, instead of just being glued to The Chart. Great that she wants to help promote MCN too, perfect when Reusable Nappy Week will be here in October too.
ozclothnappies
nappycino
modernclothnappies
they are the three sites i would be looking at for advocacy info.
FJ - your pinnies look wonderful on the website.
SUSE - your ramblings are terrific, please don't stay away. Wee output can go up and down. At the moment, bilby is wearing a sugarpeas combo for say, from 8pm - 2am - then she'll wake up for a feed, and unfortunately is in a stage of poo-ing at night, so another night nappy gets put on her around 2am. We boost the sugarpeas, inside the leaves of the prefold, bamboo booster.
I regard the sugarpeas cover as a night cover (due to the grade of MM fleece used), but the sugarpeas nappy insert is a day insert (going by the number of layers). To use it as a night insert, it needs to be heavily boosted. That's perfectly feasible when your bub is in the early to mid size weight range for that cover. I think if your bub was in the mid - end weight range of the cover, it might get tricky ala leg gape, then. At that stage, i would use it purely as a day nappy.
of course, you are not limited to using it as an AI2. you can always put that cover over a different fitted night nappy.
PINK - congrats on your new woolly, do we get to see a pic? good on you.
JANIE - NOW i remember about those bits for bots pockets! wow, i had forgotten all about that, seems like YEARS ago that happened LOL. That's great they're working well for you.
KAZBAH - multiple wetbags is easier for childcare i agree. Are they all cowprint??? LOL. yeee ha cowgirl!
NELLE - congrats on the empty laundry - that must have taken a huge effort to catch up, good on you.
GUDIE - Most of the time i feel such a failure with bilbs (our lack of bonding), that is why i coudl't stop bawling at the film of the opposite.
anyone know when ANge gets back?
I got "dolly mail" yesterday - two doll sized MCN's. and "surprise fluffy" mail, a WAHM sent me a purple outer/black inner, pocket for the bilbstar, i have no idea why she sent it, i kept thinking "this must be a mistake", but it's so lovely and there was a card attached to say it really was for us - i just about fell over.
WOTBB: whizz kidz nightz and bear bottoms pull up soaker (night weight). with Penaten on her butt cos the teething poo burns are happening atm. poor lovey.
See Suse, if they can put up with my mega rambles, YOUR little rambles are easy.
I erm...might be a little light on the fluffy mail of late, I just ordered some tshirts from threadless and got a bit carried away...I'm sure I'll manage to make a bit of room in the budget for something though! :P
Wow on the move Ali, so exciting! Your nappies will dry a heck of a lot quicker in Townsville!
No idea when Ange gets back Gigi. And how cool about the purple and black pocket! So nice!
lol on the smilies limit Nettie, it used to be lower, and I always agonised over which one to leave out! :P
Hope Ari settles soon for you Sarah.
Yay on the finished shorties PP! Never experienced shrinkage with Ittis as far as I've noticed! They didn't seem like a shrinky nappy to me!
at your Father's Day shopping Maz. I think I will spend a similar amount of Jack on Rans...oh no, actually, I grabbed him a tshirt from threadless too, it has a bird whispering to a bee, and the bee's saying 'we do WHAT?' Hehe.
Right, well I'm a bit slack with the nappy talk aren't I, what with using sposies and spending my money on other things. :P Anyone doing the Great DownUnder Nappy Hunt? The mere thought of it exhausts me!
(Oh and Mel, replying to your PM is on my 'to do' list! :P)
Better go to bed, for some reason I agreed to sing at church tomorrow morning, and I need to be there at 8:30...a bit insane of me really. Might shower tonight, so I can roll out of bed, get dressed and go...
Just skimmed through all the posts and dont remeber a thing we are just starting to get over the flu in this house all 4 kids and I have had it, and I started my new job aswell.
Question though can anyone tell me are cushie tooshies AIO I brought 3 off B4B and she says AIO and OSFM but they are so small on cooper and one wee and he flooded the floor. thought maybe they needed a cover.
woohoo just registered for my first nappy hunt and I was so excited until I saw Nelle's post and now I'm wondering what I got myself in for :-)
Nettie - when people come over DH slides the top of our kitchen table into a box and hides it in our bedroom. It drives me nuts but I don't have time to argue as I'm racing around trying to hide the piles of washed (but not put away clothes) and toys :-) We are considering moving our kitchen table outside to try and create more space and have less clutter (we live in a very very small house)
Gigi - woohoo on the free fluffy mail! Ari has some dolly nappies and she loves them! She can't put them on her dolly yet but insists we put one on bub when we change her.
That just reminded me of the funniest story. We were at playgroup a few weeks back (before we started using sposies at night on ari) and a little girl had a sposie on and no pants. Ari kept going up and playing with the kind of paper frill at the back and poking it like "What on earth is this thing!" She much prefers her cloth bottoms esp her minky ones :-)
Melham- are you talking Cushie tushies or cute tooshie?
if u are talking avout cushie tushies yes they are OSFM. i use them Annika and she is 2 years old (approx 11kg) she has room to grow.
Are they basix or couture nappies? couture have a hidden layer if PUL so should def not leak.. i fngd with the basix it is best to use a cocer for longer lasting wear,
how many washes had they had?
Gigi - one's cowprint and the other is "on the farm" which is blocks of different colours with different animals and their sounds. Really nice. TBH, only having the 2 hasn't been a problem up till now, as the CC puts his dirty nappies in plastic bags (rolls eyes) which sorta defeats the purpose!!!! But we have our Parent/Carer interview on Monday arvo, so hopefully will get that sorted.
I had put 2 nappies under the chair to try on Pip (with a liner) and had forgotten what they were! I only thought I had one! So one's the ecobubs wool (chocolate & blue stripes) and the other is a bubblebubs GNST I forgot I ordered. Woohoo! That brings me to 5 night nappies!
I loved the mummy's touch mama pads, does anyone else have any brands for me to try?
WoHB - zappynappy with PUL cover. Expecting a poo soon, so have a nice big liner on it.
And every nappy in the house is clean (bar 2 - the night nappy from last night and what he's wearing!) albeit not neccessarily dry
Sarah - my house is a bombshell, I just found a lady to help 3 hours a fortnight. I'm finding I'm getting the vacuuming done, not neccessarily the mopping. Or I'll get the vacuuming/mopping done but not the cobwebs (I miss geckos) or the dusting. *sighs*
Kaz - try some Obsidian pads..theya re fantastic too
not much to report here...have to fix 3 IB that I bought form a lady (elastic is gone in them) .
Im going to make up a collage thing for the hospital's NICO ward were mateauz was. They loved his blue BP on him and said he was the baby with the nice bum so I thought I might put a photo of him in it and the cover so they can hang it up in there. Nice way to advocate to some new mums to
i think I have to do a srtip wash on Vy's BBH's..they stink something fearce this morning
Saram - I've registered for the nappy hunt for the first time too! Might have to do some of it at work when I get back there... DH hogs the computer at home! with the box of stuff off the table! If DH did this, we'd just have 20 boxes of stuff in our room!!
Melham - one of my cushie tushies leak a lot too. We usually put a cover on it. Funnily enough the minkee one doesn't! And thanks for the tip - I'll check out B4B...
