I've been having a really hard time at work since I gave notice. The "new" guy they hired used to be my nemesis a few years ago... quite nasty stuff happened & while I was willing to give him a fresh start. I shouldn't have. I shouldn't have thought that he would change... Now instead of leaving & celebrating 8 years at one work place, it will be a hurry up and let me go. It was a demoralising day yesterday at work and then I came online and shouldn't have because I feel guilty about leaving the girls in care and was hurt by a thread I started Not exactly what I meant to happen....
I'm much better today thanks, I have had heaps of support from DH (although I don't know if offering to punch the guy helps that much) and although we need to money for the move, I know that its only 4 more weeks... chant with me... 4 more weeks.... 4 more weeks.... 4 more weeks....
WOHB: Something hemp... it smells hemp.... and a cow mazalicious cover
Oh Christy! that is dreadful - big hugs honey! It is a terrible feeling when you do the right thing and give approriate notice and then you feel like al they are doing is counting down the days! Think 4 weeks and a new exciting adventure begins!
SOrry i have been MIA lately - things have been a bit full on!
My soapnuts are wonderful! - everything is fresh and clean and i feel better inside knowing i am using them with my clothes and nappies as well!!
Christy - 4 more weeks.... 4 more weeks...... (and I haven't posted in that thread cos I'd get jumped on if I did.... somethings just aren't worth fighting about with people who don't live in your shoes ya know?)
What is this nappy hunt stuff? How does it work?
Miss M is having a shocking time feeding at the moment.... 5 more months till solids...5 more months...
i really want to wash my nappies but am TOO scared....
can i wash them all together?? for the first couple of washes?? or do i need to wash each different brand seperatly??
I have am-o-lin laundry liquid.... tell me what i should do.....
Mel - there's a list of sites, you find "hidden" icons on each of them and once you've found 30, you're eligible for a prize. There's a forum with a list of all discounts, and when you register to hunt, you get a discount code to use. Most of the sites have specials, and huge stockings It's during the month of September
Us - well a shocker of a night here. Pip cried non-stop between 11pm and 4am. I'm going to stay here until around 10am, then drive to work with him, where DH will bring him home. Of course, tonight's the night one of my dearest friends is leaving the country to work in the USA (possibly forever) and we have a dinner tonight with him & his wife before we go to the airport. We sat in the shower for a while (twice), gave milk, panadol, teething gel, massage, clean nappies (twice) and coming into our bed. No idea what's wrong. Seeing the doc @ 2:15. Oh, there was coughing, screaming, sneezing, punching me and biting DH.
Katones - you can wash different brands together. Get all the polar fleece covers and put them into a laundry bag. Gigi has recommended previously using a pillow protector (the meshy ones) and they are really good. This will keep the fluff spreading. Also put any minkee covers into another protector. Put all your inserts / fitteds into the wash, separated from the clips and if its the first wash, just use cold water. Then the second wash, use about a half lid of am-o-lin in the wash (I'm assuming you have a top loader). If you have a good machine you can set the temp, I'm lost, but I just use a warm wash/cold rinse.
Hang them on the line lengthways - this means the leg elastic is supported and keeps better. Good luck!
WoHB - a sposie, cause at 3am I wasn't going to get up and change him, DH put a sposie on.

Well, I found my 30 last night! NOT going anywhere near the hunt today as I was just a tad addicted yesterday, ie: "...just one more, then I'll go to bed...". One question though (for next week lol), are the 'extreme' ones just 'extreme' because there are no clues and the sites are huge or is there something else to it?
Having a BIG washing day today, have bugger all nappies in the house, hopefully enough to get us through until some bumwears are washed.
Janie, did you go today? I really wanted to but Punky is still sick, me too if I'm honest, and there is no way I could live with myself if sombody else's little one got sick from us, especially that new baby boy!!
PP - You like the soapnuts then?? I was thinking of getting some awhile ago but the opinions on here were quite divided... maybe I should just bite the bullet & get some to try, did you end up getting a trial pack? Where from? Do they leave your nappies softer??
Queenmab - i have only used them on one nappy wash so far and i did the sniff test and no yukky ammonia wee smell yay! didnt test for softness to be honest! lol. I didnt put any essential oils in - my sheets have a nice woody smell to them though which i honestly dont mind!
I got them at baby eco store (they were the cheapest i found) and got a 10% code to use. I bit the bullet and got a 1/2kg bag. lol - i figure $5.50 for 50gm or $20 for 500g so i just went the full size - figured i would use them anyhow .
Katones - yep same i wash everything in together. I would start washing (prewashes) so they are ready and absorbant for bub when he arrives! Then you arent worried abotu leaks from poor absorbancy!
I use flats (so like prefolds ) and I don't soak them, I treat all my nappies the same, MCN or not! Oh except occasionally I do an overnight soak in napisan (flats that is) to get rid of any persistent stains. I like my flats to look pristine LOL. But if you're using unbleached cotton prefolds, you probably won't feel the need to do that.
QM, I didn't go, but I'm really spewing I didn't I am soooo blocked up, I can hardly move my head. My sinuses and ears feel terrible, I can't hear properly, and feel all off balance. It's making me feel a bit loopy LOL. I probably would have put all that aside though, cos I'm desperate to meet the new little man (I love newborns!), but we had a bad night with DS (bl00dy teeth!) so I decided it was wise to give the meeting a miss. Probably just as well, because DS climbed onto me at 10.30am and promptly fell asleep Unheard of in this house! Hopefully we'll both make it next week, I'm so over all this illness.
Katones, Kaz has given you great washing instructions! Anything that's bamboo or hemp you can't wash enough, so pop those ones in the machine whenever you think of it.
Raven, hope your pelvis isn't too bad hun
I'd better go and study! DH has been working from home today, and has just taken DS out for a bit (:woot so I'm going to make the most of the peace and quiet
