ah yes thats typical "bloke" thinking. I was making the boys bed this evening as Glenn had wet the bed last night (so cute came in & said he accidentally wet the bed cuz he was dreaming he got up to the toilet) anyway, the boys sleep on a double bed together (their choice) so I pull the mattress off to make the bed, I just stand it on its side & then flip it back on to the bed once the sheets are on. DH came in & was helping. He basically just pulled the sheet to his end then went to flop it back on the bed. When I pulled him & said you actually have to put the sheet so it goes under the mattress, he got all ****ty & said SORRRRYYY for trying to help.
I just said its fine to help as long as you do it properly!
Mind you when he left the room I still had to go & tuck the sheet in under properly. Christ it was a fitted sheet! how hard is it to flip it under?!
Isla is all red again! GRRRR! She was being a bit stubborn about using the potty today & DH was getting the ****s with her naked bum on everything, she likes to climbe & sit on the table when they are doing stuff there. She will just wee in undies so I just leave her go with nothing on bar a dress or a long top. So today I put her in nappies, the rash I was leaving them off for seems on the mend. Had her in the itti's again & tonight her vag is all red looking.
I *think* it may be washing detergent residuel... Im pretty sure the itti's she wore today are the ones I drip dried the other day. Maybe I didn't let them do the rinse cycle long enough before pulling the load out. Its all I can think of.
So tonight she is lathered up with paw paw ointment with a liner again.
Mind you I am liking the liners. This morning I stayed in bed for like 2 hours after ever one got up ( I was awake I just took advantage of no one asking where I was lol) & DH didn't think to change her. She got up at 7.30 & I got up around 9 & she had done a poo in her night nappy. So much easier to clean with the liner. Also given she probably did the poo a good 15 minutes before I changed her as it was all mooshed in.
At least DH did come and say sorry to her & that he just didn't think of changing her because he doesn't/hasn't changed a nappy in such a long time.
Ahhhh MEN!
On a good note, my kids all went to bed at the usual time of 8pm. Its been a long miserable day here & given its been overcast & foggy all day it was reasonably dark "on time" even though the clocks are forward an hour. Also helped that the boys have horrid coughs at the moment so are tired from being off in that way anyway. Hopefully they adjust easily. DLS sucks!
I have been making nappies today & yesterday & probably tomorrow LOL. I made 8 over today & yesterday for Mr Doodle. I also made a set of sheets for the bassinet & just made a little dot minkee hat to take to the hospital when he is born, I have a matching nappy too LOL.
Oh I also made a heap of wipes (about 10) of all my scraps, so not a nice square shape but long rectangles, cotton rich fleece one side & cotton velour the other. very yummy!
Oh & I think I am going to need to change my change table set up. Isla has been wanting to use it & I can't get the hang of changing from the side, I need to be at the front (foot end) of the child.
Im thinking of getting on of those ones that sit on top of the rails of the cot. I think that would work well.
I got 2 funkywuns - one as a pressie and one for Pip (the gerbera as a pressie, the workers set for Pip). I have one of the embroided PUL ones already and that's lovely, works a treat so guessing the FunkyWuns will be similar!
Well it only took Pip an hour to settle - wonder why?

Pink - i had a 3.79kg newborn, which i am told is not small, but we STILL needed newborn sized covers. I tried using our small covers in the first week, and got LEAKS everywhere, cos i couldn't achieve LEG SEAL in them. But as soon as i got the newborn sized covers, LEG SEAL was possible, and of course, the leaks stopped!
the bamboo foldups inside the newborn cover were lovely and trim too. we used mainly covers with leg gussets, they worked really well.
i tried the flat nappies, and needed smalls covers over them (cos flats are bulkier) - well - over "my attempt" of putting flats on, truth is, i totally sucked at doing up flats! Gave them up after a week of failing miserably at them LOL.
MAZ - EIGHT mcn for Vy? I hope the lovely catnaps metallic butterflies is one of those eight! Do you find it a bit sad, saying goodbye to her MCN? or are you relieved (one less thing to do type thing?).
I was trying to explain to dh today, why we need to have bilby wear just fitteds (no cover) around the house - help her beginning stages of TT-ing. he really didn't get it, was in a big hurry to put covers on her. Even when i explained we woudl be able to tell she needed a change faster, and she would spend less time feeling wet (we don't use stay dry inners for days). all he could go on about was "what if the highchair gets wee on it" etc.
Is that the kind of thing Jed says to you? when you said he was not helping, in getting Vy trained last weekend? like doing the opposite of what you know needs to be done?
FJ - sorry to hear Isla is still sore. hope you figure out what the culprit is soon. Washing MCN must be very challenging, on less water.
All kids are different, don't think the GP will think less of you, for asking, regardless of how many kids you've had. Plus Isla is your only female child.
and i'm glad you got to lie in bed a bit longer, for a change! You sure are sewing up a storm! go FJ!!
KAZBAH - did you promise at one stage, to post pics of Pip in the tartan longies? cos if you did, i didnt get to see, adn i would like to.
Whoever asked about the minky nappy bilbs is wearing on teh Dragonflymagik home page, yes, it is a long pile minky, a tie dye bluey one. I think it's the Avlyn brand of minky - very nice and washes up so well, stays lovely and soft, high pile. Note the BLACK inner? i love black inners. Must be my inner Goth coming out ha ha.
We rarely have bilbs in a dress, and today was the FIRST time we were at a playground and she wasn't going down the slide wihtout our help. She was sitting on a minky nappy with embroidery on the bum (with dress riding up, over the top), and it was like she was STUCK to the metal slippery dip - all friction and no slide. I suddenly realised what she was wearing and didn't want to risk having the lovely embroidery messed up. Most times we are at a playground, i dress her in easy to play in stuff, but today we had been shopping beforehand and i was caught out.
WOTBB: lotus night nappy and rainbow longies (under the loose cotton sleeping bag).
Mel - i have 5 small PUL bb and 3 small wool bb.
Are the newborn motherease much smaller then the smalls - as i guess i will need them much smaller for the early weeks
Ashley was only 5lb - not that i think this baby will be the same but just in case
