Alioops:
Congrats on the BFP - can you send some BFP vibes my way please???
Today is day 26 of my cycle (and I'm usually 32-40 day cycles) and I'm starting to get my hopes up.
I've been feeling a tad nauseous off and on for the past couple of days and I KNOW it is WAY early so am REALLY trying not to get my hopes up but I am still going to be CRUSHED if AF appears next weekend!
I freaked my 18 year old niece out this evening. Was telling her that WHEN we have #2 (whenever that is - though hopefully SOON) I intend to use cloth FULL TIME once meconium poo gets out of the system AND will have two containers of cloth wipes in the nappy bag - one for bums and one for hands and face instead of always carrying throw away wipes and using them.
She got nervous and said, "what about the days I take the kids?" I told her we would have to see but I'll convert her!
Not much else to report - exhausted at the moment as we were at the beach all day for a 3 year old's party!
Oh, but nearly forgot - Gigi: was looking for this Planet Ark laundry detergent you mentioned awhile back and couldn't find it in my local Franklins. Is it powder or liquid and do mainstream grocery stores stock it? I'm disappointed in Earth Choice as I believe they have optical brighteners and I seem to remember Nelle mentioning something about optical brighteners fade clothes or something. And is there other hidden nasty stuff in Earth Choice?
WOHB: seriously overstuffed BBH hemp with Mother-ease cover
I have tried the PA powder and TBH I found that no stains were washed out on our clothes. Was not impressed for the price.
Well, I think we may have some converts. Quite a few people at church LOVE the girls nappies!! 1 is pg and due fairly soon so I told her she can borrow some of mine to try out and see what fits best. and I wont need too many by then anyway, Em only uses about 5 per day (I like to boost well and she is not a huge wetter) and Sarah can do 1 per day when she is remembering.
Hi all just popping in quickly - slightly overwhelmed by RNW at the moment
for anyone in nth QLD see here for all the details of whats planned for reusable nappy week in Townsville.
Hope everyone is doing well, Ari has really bad nappy rash (after being in mainly sposies during our holiday so have had to resort to some antifungal cream :-( Do you reckon it would be OK to use disposabes when we put the cream on (2-3times a day) but put her back in cloth the rest of the time? How residual is the zinc cream?

there was a thread on Nappycino recently called "Well, what do you wash YOUR mcn with then?" which started a discussion on different washing detergents.
that made me to to the supermarket, to go read the list of ingredients for each of the ones i read about
Amolin, Purity (is that right?), Planet Ark sensitive, Ecostore and Earth Choice.
i think from memory, by reading the ingredients list, i discounted Amolin, Purity and Earth's Choice - each had ONE thing that i was told to avoid, (one had fragrance, one had optical brighteners, one had something else). THe Ecostore (NZ) and Planet Ark Sensitive (AU) were the only ones that fitted all the critera (that had been discussed in the NC post). they were also the dearest. i bought a pack of the Planet Ark Sensitive to try, justified it as i only use such a tiny amount to wash MCN with, will still use our usual one for clothes loads.
Gig's market find of the day:
Cheeky-tots website has some good mcn on sale - drybee PUL pockets for under $20 - they're aplix closing
the Nappy bucket had some good specials too
one of them has the berry plush on sale, can't remember which now (???)
LilPrec - have you got bamboo trifolds? not sure where you are, but Peapods are sold so many places (just check website for stockists near you), and their trifolds are pretty good. Would $18 Drybees pockets interest you? check out Cheeky-tots for those. (if you don't put the - (hyphen), you get a different website).
Christy
i wouldn't push you in one direction or t'other
but the questions i would be asking myself, if i were in that situation, would be:
how many MCN do Jovie and Matilda go thru in one day? (to work out how many MCN i would need to take with me in the car)
do you know how long your journey will be from Brissy to Syd? plane or driving? (same, number of MCN)
do you have a lockable bucket? would it fit in the boot standing up? (storage for used ones - is it do-able)
do you have a large wetbag? (same)
is your furniture going to be in the home when you get there? e.g will washing machine be there when you arrive? (if you KNOW washing machine won't be in your new place, until three days AFTER you move in, well either you know the area well, and like laundrettes, or you don't)
do your girls poo on schedule? if they do, you could do a combo - sposies for when you expect poo, MCN for the other times when i'ts only wee. (i have a "surprise" package, but i hear many people have very "regular" kids!!!)
just a few ideas.
it could go either way
you might be so stressed, mcn might be too hard
you might be so stressed, that something familiar, like the routine of MCN, might distract you from your stress
only you can decide, you're in the driver's seat hon.
PINK - that's great about mcn on Ethan. have you got liners on your prefolds? is it helping? i had to wait until Day Five for bilbs, and i was very excited to have prefodls and covers on her too. i had one showoff cover, lavendar with embroidered little butterflies, can't bear to part with it even now, it's so tiny.
MAZ - i hope by now, all the excitement is over, it went well, and you are sold out LOL. all that work and then **** - they're gone!
KATONES - hope you're travelling well, not long to go now hon.
ALI - i saw the gorgeous fabric outers of the cushie tushie coutures on the Nurture Nappies site, that fish one is incredible! if they were side snappers, i would have been sooo tempted. stunning fabrics.

Christy - how long are the hoses for the washing machine, and how far away from the taps will the WM inlets be? Our hot hose is JUST too short so I have to got to the plumber very soon. We are due for a strip wash soon (not on the stuff being sent to RNW though
Ali, I don't have to worry about hot water, our machine heats the water itself... apparently its a green machine but it has to use energy to do it.
Gigi, thank GOD Matilda is only in night trainers. We are driving and it will take us 2 nights, we still don't have a place to live, so will be shaking up with the MIL... *deep breath in... deep breath out*
ETA: Pink Palace, I was totally with you on the journey that today was the meet up!!! PMSL.... oh dear.... & DH has told me to tell you to heat the soup up nice and hot, because its stinky otherwise thanks DH... instills confidence in my cooking.

PP - you still want me to bring the fleece covers to the meet?
Kaz - Moogoo huh.. does it leave any residue at all on the nappies? I got some other cream that didn't have any petrochemicals or whatever in it, but has made the insert for the BBB all slimy after its wash..
No cloth news here... but DS is in a big bed.. but thats not nappy related...
WOAB: Green IB - napping..in big boy bed (did I mention that?!)
WOMB: have no idea... DH would have changed her when i was shopping
Went shopping this morning and got to meet the lovely 'MandyMac' doing a display for the ANN at the shopping centre
Shes doing a wonderful job of getting the word out!
I am sending my display stock with a friend to the shopping centres this week too!!! If FDC had something for the girls I would be going too, but I think I will have to buy a thankyou gift for that person. RNW only comes around once per year so She is doing me a massive favour by getting the nappies and my business card out there Mwahs to you gorgeous woman!!!
