4.2kg hey... hmmmm sound slike a challange LOL
Well, I just made some more breastpads (thanks for the tip Maz, worked a treat) & I now have 14 pairs of 13 pairs of Bamboo Breastpads LOL, Plus another 3 or 4 that are hemp.
Think thats enough? LOL
I did some more prewashing of little nappies today. ahhh so cute hanging on the line.
God I want this baby out. Not because im sick of being pregnant, I could be pregnant for years at a time I think. But just so I can have a new little bubba to hold & hug & smell & kiss & have on my breast & well, to sit & look at for hours on end.
Oh and to put all these little nappies on!
So so clucky
Yay Katones!!! Congratulations!!
Ange - I got a lou lou from B4B early on in this MCN caper & as I didn't have too much to compare it with I thought it was grand... ordered 3 more but they weren't/aren't quite the same & all four are now relegated to the 'only if desperate' pile. They have a huge strip of velcro all along the top & the sides which make them hard to do up & stiff, plus we've had leaks most times we've used them. HTH.
Thanks qm. ;) Have put a photo of bettlebum on NC if you want to have a peep. x
Congrats Katones
My SIL had her bub his morning too. OMG she is soooo small and sooooo cute! Have pics on my blog if anyone wants a lookie.
FJ I hear what you're saying there! Even though I'm slightly cacking myself with the thought of giving birth again I can't wait :D
Hi All -
Very bummed tonight as the sticky vibes didn't work! AF arrived with great gusto this afternoon/evening and today was only day 27 of my cycle and I'm normally a 32-40 day gal so not sure what is going on there! VERY BUMMED!!
Oh well, the positive of the situation is that it gives DH and I another full chance before DS and I just off to America to see my family in November for three + weeks!
No real nappy related news to share - have been drooling over several yummy looking nappies on B4B but sadly have no money and since no one is interested in paying my husband the money he deserves or buying the stuff I'm selling on ebay I'm going to have to just keep admiring them from the web!
Okay I'm in a BAD mood tonight so I'll sign off!
Congrats to Katones for the birth!! There does seem to be a rush of babies!
re the moogoo - I am a bit obsessed!
For Pip, I have 3 lots.
The "skin milk" which is the lightest for every change. Keeps his bum supple! Plus its in the tube, lasts us about 2 months.
The "full cream" which I use at home every night before bed and when he wakes in the morning. It's a bit heavier, but very soothing and nips any hint of redness in the bud!
There's also the "soothing cream" which has cleared up the only bad set of nappy rash we got in 2 days - and that was the blistering on contact teething poo!
Like I said, I'm slightly obsessive, and I also use the moogoo soap with oatmeal for everyone! And will start with the shampoo & conditioner soon.
For our hand wash, I use Billy the Goat liquid soap ;)
Oh yeah, I use the moogoo oil cleansing method on my face, only started it last week, seems pretty good ;)
WoPB - sposie, DH put him to bed.
I just realised how l wonderful it is that DH empties poo in the loo - sposie or cloth.
Maz - thanks.
 LP. that sucks! Go Away AF!!!!
More and more new little people getting into MCN, yay!!
I am going to need guidance in putting a NB in MCN!!! do I need to wait till the menconium is gone or would liners do the job fine?
ahhh LP, that sux, but on the bright side, an easier trip for DH and you!!!!
*hugs*
kaz
Aww Heidi, all the best for next cycle.
Yay Kat!! Congratulations! 4.2kg, noice effort, Riv was that, it's a great weight because there's not so much stress about them gaining weight early, they've got a good reserve! :p All the best settling in.
FJ, surely you'll be next, I haven't missed anyone else before you have I? Not long now.
Thanks for asking after me guys, me being away is actually a great sign (for me anyway, you guys don't get to bask in my radiance though  ), I was getting a bit 'meh, sigh' about being a housebound mumma, so I'm trying to get out and have a life, and have some purpose, if that makes sense! :D I should be around most weekdays, I'll try to remember to pop in here and say boo.
Just give me a kick up the butt if I go missing again.
Hope everyone's well, and has a great week lined up ahead of them! How's the packing going Christy?
WOTB's: Not sure, mum put them to bed while we were out (she babysat), apparently Si's in something purple, so I'd say a Tots Bots. Possibly Riv in a sposie...
ALIOOPS - i used microfleece liners on top of the prefolds with the nb bilby, it's not 100% but it helps. the Little Squirt got the rest of it. Was sooo glad i had the little squirt.
AJP - we use washing powder in our front loader, what are you unsure about?
MAZ - hon, what has Jed done to deserve the frying pan???? LOL
KATONES - CONGRATS HON!
CHRISTY - hmmm, so if you're staying with MIL, you will access to a washing machine immed - BUT - if you are nervous about staying with her, are you worried she won't be ok with you using her machine to wash MCN?
would the car trip be two days and two nights?
or one day, two nights of driving?
i'm assuming 24/7 nappies for Jovie, only night trainers for Matilda?
If Matilda doesn't normally poo at night, so the night trainers would only be wet, not pooey, she sounds easy enough.
Does Jovie poo on schedule? or randomly?
Do you put or coudl you put flushable liners in her nappies for the drive?
if you don't have flushable liners, i could send you some easy peasy. No point buying an entire roll, if you usually don't use them.
For babies doing "formed poos", the flushable liners, when you are away from home, make flushing the poos so easy, you just pick up the liner from each end (where there is no poo obviously), and drop into the loo at service station toilets, or wherever you stop at public toilets along the way.
NESSA - congrats to your SIL
US - i tried on a pair of size 1 bestnless trainers on bilbs today - they fit great - wonder how long before she'll be ready to try using them? i am dubious about the foam bit, but thought i would get one pair for when it all kicks off. the thought of having to buy the trainers in a rush, when she shows the signs, does worry me a bit (spot the control freak here!).
Kazbah - i love the moo goo too! first time in my life, i have NOT had split ends! their hair products are working really well on me. i've had two haircuts in the year i've been using it, and both times, i was all ready "Yes, cut off all the spilt ends, two inches if you HAVE too" - as has happnede for EVER, and both times, the hairdresser has said to me, "You don't HAVE any spilt ends, what hair products do you use?".
LP - i feel your pain, my dh also gets a disgustingly low hourly rate for what he actually does.
WOTBB: kester kovers aio - there are some lovely ones on the possum pouches site the other day i looked, pity we don't need any more night nappies!!! Our medium long is acting like the "everlasting all day suckers". We're on the same setting from over a year ago, she will be in this until tt-ing easily.
nelle hun will pm you about saturday!!
gigi everytime i look at powder/liquid it never mentions using in front loader, what do you use again!!
kaz off to check out the moogoosoap!
Morning all!!!
Hi Nelle - great that you are getting a life ;) Can you pass one on to me please? lol
Kaz - what is the actual stuff called from moogoo called? i looked at their website and they have so many different types of products!!!
No nappy related news here....
WOAB: Swaddlebees
WOMB: BBB with soaker - that are soaked!!! Needs changing
Finally stopped getting compression leaks with my soakers with Miss M - she must be moving around more at night these days!!!
Mel- i found the website really confusing too! I emailed the lady and she was really helpful.
To fix nappy rash- it is the soothing cream you want. you have to scroll down and you'll find it. ;)
MOOGOO!
For every day use : skin milk or full cream milk.
for nappy (or any other!) rash: soothing cream
But to be honest, I've only needed the soothing cream when he had rash blisters as I've found the full cream milk keeps him healthy. I did get the skin milk cause its in a tube, and handy for the nappy bag.
Caro (you remember Caro?) put me onto MooGoo cause she swore by the infant scalp cream for cradle cap.
Well It looks like its about to bucket down here, and on the tv traffic report they said the rain was heavy over the bridge. OK. the radar is not looking good. No nappies in the sun today I think. Or playdates at the park. Doh.
Gigi - I bought one last week, did its first wash yesterday and its so long! Can't wait to try it.
WoHB - BBB with BB PUL cover (suprise!)
Caro oh who could forget Caro!! She was full of bf info for me when i first fell pg
i think when my cheque clears im going to have to invest in some moo goo... sounds fabo
Oh my on the nappy front Annika is cutting her molars and is now is sposies cause she is stinking out most nappies... have brought some cansteen for the wash...
I have got some Dlish on the way... from the lovely jodi!!! thanks hun
oh im so excited for my sil.... gonna wipe up some prefolds once she has hit the 12 week mark and make her some fleece covers... I WILL convert this girl....
I will make her see the expensive, yucky way of sposies!!! (but they are great for some reasons )
any way school is back today so im off to drop of teleah
Hi ladies -
not sure if you watch Sunrise @ all but they're doing "saving money" this week.
I'm about to write in with the savings made from cloth nappies :) (what a great thing for reusable nappy week!)
kaz
Hey Kaz....... i use the soothing cream all the time. Do you think i should be using the other one day to day? There are no nasties in the soothing cream is there?
Nice work on writing in, maybe you'll get to go and show off all pips nappies????
Ang - it has no nasties, that's the best thing about moogoo!!! (gawd, I should get commission I reckon). But its a bit more expensive than the full-cream and skin milk which is why I use them mostly. Plus I always figure start on a low level to give myself somewhere to escalate to ....
I dunno why but Im a bit turned off of teh idea of the moogoo. Sounds great but the website put me off LOL. So many cows!
I think I would rather put breastmilk on the bum. LOL I don't mean that to come out as FF offensive just the idea of cow milk being used for so much these days.
Oh & don't get me started on Caro!
kaz just went down and got some moogoo soap and more full cream milk cream!!
ange if you want any i can get you some and give to you on saturday!
who was looking for cow print minkee......just got home from the hossy (had surgery this morning)and there is a humungous 2 boxes with rolls of minkee from the US!! yay...finally...mee gonna go have fun rolling in it for a bit LOL!!!
oooooh melbel! hope you're all OK?
yeah all good... I had what they call a trigger thumb and had to have the tendon released.....went to theatre at 8am....on my way home by 10:15......now just gotta keep my arm higher than my heart for a week....day and night...fun city!!

OH I wanna come and have some fun
hope your fingy is alright babe....
Kaz - can I bring some nappies for you to pass on to some newbies then ?
Moo goo....me thinks me might need to get some
NEss - yaya on the IB's from Jodi..I have to part with our mediums now :( - so if your interested you guys know th edrill
Christy - I got your package today...you'd better email me your new addy caused Ive fixed it already and **** I have to take a pic of Vy in the dress...its HUGE on her lol
got my swap nappies today....they are GORGEOUS!!! thank you to know you who.
Katones....Im NOT making you any NB covers...I'll make smalls instead out of your material babe.
Queen hon...maz has been thinking ;) and listening to you (and some others) wait until the new year
I am so looking forward to this weekends its not funny. I need a break from the kids and my business atm.
OK back to mummy mode
maz - sure ;) ooops was going to ask if I could bring a cover for you to fix but ummmmm maybe I'll post it out ;)
bit worried here, Pip slept fitfully all night, woke @ 6:30 had a run around, and several drinks of water through the night, then milk at brekky, then slept until 10am, another run around and more water, more milk and he's back asleep. And his night sposie wasn't that wet, his BBB was dry enough for me to put back on after his nap and then I changed him to a zappy and he's still dry. Not sure what's happening, I can only force so much fluid into him! And no poo this morning yet. :dunno:
WoHB - zappy (still) with motherease cover.:nappy:
Kaz - just keep an eye on him. If his temp goes up, or he gets listless i'd be inclined to get him to a doc. Hope he pees and poops soon!!!
Maz - big hugs - I don't know how you run a business with four kids!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!
Mel - hope your finger gets better quickly!!!
Congrats Kat!!
Can I use Canesten cream with MCN? Im sick of using sposies & the rash is just about gone, theres a small patch that hasnt gone yet but Im also starting to wonder if its coz of the sposies
CONGRATULATIONS Katones!! Euan was 4.2kg too, he was in special care for three days and was twice the size of most of the other SC babies. Hope you're enjoying your lovely newborn cuddles and getting to use your cloth nappies for the first time.
Mel(bel), hope you're OK honey? If you are in recovery mode, just make yourself up a big plushy pile of cowprint minky and relax back in it. Like a big minky beanbag. Mmmm.
FJ -. I don't think that they actually use the cows in the moogoo... do they? :p
Kaz - being the resident moogoo ambassador, is moogoo non-liner MCN friendly? I'm thinking of getting some, pawpaw just doesn't cut it for the really nasty rashes, and I would love an alternative to sudocream for when it gets really yukky.
Heidi - :hugs: sounds like you're having a week like mine. Hope next cycle is the one for you babe.
Nelle - I feel well and truly basked in your radiance. (Oh wait, or is that just the UV :nahnah:). I am feeling very blah at the moment so understand the need to get into the outside world. Oh, BTW - I finally had my hair cut on the weekend - it's now fire engine red baby. Hee hee.
Jols - in a front loader I use the Aware sensitive powder. 'Tis good.
I am officially over my BumGs right now. I've strip washed, stuffed more, stuffed less, etc, etc, and yet they still leak out the back. There are two in which the leg elastic is almost well and truly shot, but these don't seem to leak any more than any of the others. It seems that if the insert is a millimetre off perfectly centred then it leaks, to the point where we are having to be so ridiculously pedantic about putting them on E, who wriggles like an extremely wriggly thing and squishes the inserts up anyway as soon as he starts moving around. But they only leak every now and again, it's not every change, I'll have a few days or a week where they don't leak at all, then all of a sudden three in a row will leak, and I just can't figure out why. Grrr. It's really bugging me.
Maz, a while ago you posted a really good method of redoing leg elastic in BumGs, I can't find it, can you remind me please? What sort of elastic should I use?
WOHB: Bamboozle and Sugarpeas wool cover. And nothing else, it's bloody hot up 'ere...
Suse - I don't use liners most of the time! Onl if its BBs or BBHs and I'm expecting a poo!
Does anyone have the link to Katones birth announcement? I can't find it? Congrats hun :)
Maz thats quick!!! Will you use the soaker? If not you can pass it on... its a Shannon soaker ;) too small for Jovie now. I thought the dress might be a bit big, but that red would suit your gorgeous girl!! Matilda's just grown out of it.... only just.
Suse that stinks about your BumG's. So strange how some of us have favourite nappies & they don't suit others? I just find that random. BumG's are still the top nappy used in our house, but since they are easy they are used at day care mostly. I only get to use them on the off chance I have some clean & JJ isn't going to day care anytime soon.
WOHB: Sposies :( she woke up with a horrible angry rash, so I sent her to FDC with sposies and cream.... couldn't be bothered explaining liners etc.
Im not sure that katones has listed her announcement yet.
We got a txt in the october due group! :)
Suse - i hear you on the BG elastic. It is shonky! i have repaired one twice already... actually have it on DD bum atm... hoping no runny poo lol...
Christy - Mmm the soup is divine thanks so much!. Called Liz today too - i was a little slack returning her call but she understood :) HOw is the organising going?
SKittlebub - i found the best way to treat DD's rash in mcns was water and flannel and then Dry throughly (this was the trick i think!!!).. and then plain cornflour. If i had a liner (fleece) i would use bepanthen and it would be gone in 2 nights :) HTH
WOAB - BG
WOEB - Sposie ;)
Ness, the sandman has landed. Thanks
PMSL, No its not the use of the cow in the moogoo, its the use of so much cow MILK in things. LOL
Skittle, No don't use that with out a liner in your nappy. Its horrid **** to get off your nappies! I was using it with fleece liners & I just tossed the fleece liners after use as I can't get the stuff off!
thanks suse, does it have the optical brightners etc... or is it a 'healthy powder'!!
sal ive used canestan with MCN just use a liner!
Suse honey - easy as...get a safety pin..cut little slits were the elastic is now...feed elastic through from one slit to the other...with the sewing machine securily sew on top elastic and then stretch elastic as much as you can, thens tart sewing until the bottom slit.
If you cant get your head aorund it send them to me to fix babe. I did Jol's fo rher.
Fiona HUGE package has landed and the pinnis are to die for.
Christy - I think we'll use the soaker for night times..its so cute and thank you honey...you didnt have to send me a nappy for me :) but how can I resist a BBH expecially in purple MAUWS!!!!!
Mel - dont know about amazing...tired yes
Sammi - rainbow spider has landed....hehehehehe
Question time...its about labels on nappy's, covers ect.....would people prefer a 'label' that sticks out or a hidden one (cant reveal to much ;) )
I like the labels that are over the tabs or on the back (cause I love showing off!)
Can't remember who .. ahhh KK - they have the size as the label on one tab, and the name on the other (or do they use snaps with the sizes?)
You know you're addicted to MCN when ... the postie comments he hasn't seen you for a while, you make the comment "fluffy mail!" and he not only replies "it certainly is" but also asks to see them, and you have a discussion about cloth vs sposies! And he pats the fluffy mail!!
Ummm yeah, I got fluffy mail - widdlewuns funkywuns with matching singlet. Need to wash it and hope that Saturday is a warm, warm day so I can show it off! And a gift widdlewun that's gerberas, for a friend of mine. She needs a lift, as her partner left her and she has limited funds but loves cloth.
woHB - still the same zappy (getting more worried here)
No worries maz, I hope PUL is of use.
FLUFFY MAIL!!!!! 1 Large Pink velcro BBH Magicall arrived today!!! I think that is the last big nappy I will buy for a little while, I need little ones now!
Fluffymail here too - thank you oh so much 'secret' swappie person - it's gorgilicious (I'm pretty sure I know who it was from though judging from the return addy, but we'll pretend it's a secret ;)). Haven't tried it on his sleeping lordship's butt, but upon awakening, it will be worn with pride.
Jol's - Aware Sensitive is totally anti-nappy-washing-nasties. No brighteners, no fragrances, no enzymes, no fillers, no other yukkies.
FJ love - I was only teasing about the cows... I knew what you meant, I was just sh*t-stirring you.
Kaz - hope Pip pees and poos for you soon hon, we spend all of our time complaining about how much they poo (at least I do LOL), but as soon as they stop we worry. I hope he's OK.
Thanks Maz sweets - you're a doll. I'm going to print out your instructions and give it a go. Stupid question, what do I do with the safety pin (now now, be nice please )? Oh, hang on, I think I get it. I safety pin the new elastic to the old elastic, then pull out the old elastic, which will feed through the new elastic. Right? (Yes, I'm an idiot...).
Oh, and on labels, I like labels on the outside, especially on the back of the nappy, but they can also work well on the wings/tabs. But if they are used on the outside, they shouldn't have a separate size tag sticking out the bottom, it looks a bit tacky. Outside labels should be for branding and nothing else. Itti Bitti do it well (although they do have the size below the logo in small neat lettering, this works OK), so do Wildchild, and Beetlebums. Can't think of any others off the top of my head. If you are thinking of doing outside labels, because you do a lot of really funky, bright and patterned nappies/covers, your label would work best in a single colour (eg: white on black), and should be very simply and boldly designed with high contrast. (Sorry, the designer in me just got let out of her box, I'll shut up now ).
Christy, the funny thing is, BumGs work fantastically for us 90% of the time, it's just that when they don't, they really don't. I have such a love/hate relationship with BumGs, they work wonderfully for a while but then they fail me and I stop trusting them for a while, then I slowly build up trust again only to have it broken again. Sounds like a soap opera, right?
WOHB: a different Bamboozle and a different Sugarpeas cover than before.
Well its sad..ive put some nappies way for you Kaz to give to Newbies and Ive listed some at b4b :( I could cry cause my little guy has gotten so big.
God I am so nervy tonight and my kids are driving me banana's................. 5 more sleeps
