Congrats and welcome back Kat! :D We waited a short while to sort out the fluff too I remember.
hmmm, im not buying any NB sposies.. Should I?
we didn't buy NB sposies.. but were given some.. and had the ones from hospital... i seriously doubt OH could deal with cloth.. he is just managaing the sposies!!! LOL
Depends FJ. Si's birth knocked me about a fair bit and I didn't really change Si's nappy much for a few days. I just wanted to sleep. A small pack could be handy - if your washing starts to back up after a difficult day or something.
i am still 'recovering' from the caesar.. i did WAYYYY to much the day after the caesar.. as the night of the caesar i was up.. next day i was up and showering and walking up/down to the special care nursery...so right now i don't think i could deal with fluffies.. but i am working my way up to them...
Fj - i bought 2 boxes for DH to use.
I am good with the prefolds but it will take a bit for him to get use to snappis etc.
Also i didnt want Meconium stains on my prefolds :)
They go through them so quickly as you know so 1 box would be gone in a week or so anyhow :)
I had a c/s and Mateauz has in ICU but I had a cloth friendly hossy and no NB sposies hit his butt until we came to the royal childrens. I coped fine with them. DOnt have any smalls left Fiona...sorry :(
Kat - hey babe you have Kelly to thank for that nappy...Ive got one to thats never been used..I LOVE IT!!!!
welcome back Kat... congrats again
i used sposies on Mj bum for a few weeks too... she was so tiny and i never thought of newborn had everything in small.
Tell me what colours itties should i take to the RNW meet tomorrow????
FJ - I have some newborn sposies left over from DD - you are welcome to them if you want??
Lemme know and I'll send them down before you pop!!!
welcome back Kat!!!! Good to see you all home safely.
I'm off to go shopping when Pip wakes, and play in a park with him. Show off some nappies ; )
Waiting for the mail to come, there's something in an express postpak for me!!!
Gigi - that's no good :( Is it a nice cut though? I'm looking through the wedding photos for a nice one of Pip's trews.
WoHB - BBB with FJ cover.
hmmmm Na, Im not going to buy any.
DH doesn't do nappies & Im not going to make it easier for him with sposies. I made a heap of AIO TT closure nappies that if he can't handle those he isn't going tohandle a sposies either.
As for stains on my prefolds. I don't mind. They ain't anything flash anyway.
MAZ, No worries. Im sure i will manage (to make some LOL)
tanty central here - typing one handed as DS is draped across my lap whinging and whining. i have absolutely no idea what the issue is so i'm just ignoring the outburst at the moment.
we have joined the sore bottom crew. he has three weeping sores on his bottom. i'm going to put him in sposies at night again as that is when they seem to give him the most trouble and then i can slather him with cream.
some sort of insect (i think) bit me on my right eyelid yesterday afternoon and it is red and swollen today - itchy and sore at the same time if that makes sense.
had some issues with a person i thought was a friend yesterday too which has left my head spinning so i'm just not in a good place right now.
to add to everything we are flat stinking broke. have been trying to sell some stuff on ebay and have nad two non-paying bidders. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
okay off to the shops to go to the post office.
wohb: i can't even remember - but he has a BBH PUL cover over it!
Aww man Heidi. Hope you can sort things out with your friends. Most of our tantys here come from tiredness or thirst/hunger - I guess we're lucky, most of our hysteria can be fixed with a drink. :)
Hi all again,
Back from the post office and about to pack up and head for home I think. It was an office day today and I've spent the day listing numerous items on ebay and eating half a block of chocolate to try to drown my sorrows! *grin* I must admit I'm feeling slightly better.
DS fell asleep in the pram on the 20 minute walk to the shops, remained asleep while I was in the post office, and was STILL asleep when I got back to the office. I have listed the last three items I had in mind to sell in peace and quiet! He is actually STILL asleep as I type this now - I will regret my decision to let him sleep when he wakes frequently tonight!! He has been asleep for almost an hour and a quarter which is VERY unusual for him. I hope it doesn't mean he is coming down with something!
As for the situation with the person yesterday - it is sort of making me re-evaluate who are my real friends. The point she made was valid - perhaps I just took it the wrong way - but even so I still feel cranky about the whole thing. But it does cause me to take stock of me and who I am and how I live my life so that is a good thing. Sorry, I know it isn't making much sense what I'm saying since I haven't explained really what was said to me but it doesn't really matter so I'll stop rambling about it. If anyone REALLY wants to hear all the sordid details you are welcome to PM me!
Hmmmm - nappy related news - I don't really have any except that I was really stinking pleased that DS was back in nappies full time and now he has a rash! I don't even have a clue what caused it. He'll be in sposies the whole time we are in the states so I'm annoyed to have him in sposies now. But I'm also sick and tired of him waking in the middle of the night crying because his bottom is sore and begging for a nappy change.
Okay, I'm going to sign off, pack up and head for home.
Thanks for the kind words and the hugs Nelle - it cheered me up!
I think I'll be skipping mother's group tomorrow too and heading to the doctor if my eyelid doesn't look at least some better in the morning!
WOHB: the same nappy as my previous post which will probably leak while he is sleeping - and I remembered that it is a Cheeky Butts nappy! still with the same BBH PUL cover too!
I went and got a new hose for my wahing machine today, and I cant get the bl00dy thing on!!! it is stripping the thread! I decided to leave it till DH gets home! ARGH!!! I need to do a strip wash too!
Gigi Can you make a thread with the stripwash instructions and can a mod please sticky it. I am sure Gigi is sick of writing these instructions down!
Got notification that 2 soakers I ordered are on the way!! Yay!
WOEB: Denim Cushie Tushie
WOSB: Nada!
Have I said before how well the IB fits Jovie???? OMG... its magic. DH said "Dear God its beautiful" in true Zoolander fashion.
So now we are looking at selling some nappies so we can order some or find some more IB PUL larges for our big girl! Jovie is 14 kg and hopefully TT so maybe we shouldn't bother... but they are perfect. She can climb and do heaps more than she can in the BBB.
WOHB: Homemade Honeyboy
Geessss i think I must have forgotten to strip wash to....... no offence Gigi but hey Ali we've all said how to strip wash in the past hon...you know you can ask any of us again. Jsut hot water, a drop of washing up liquid and you keep rinsing until its clear. Or you can do the old vinegar and bi-carb wash in hot but its not reacomendded to do to many of them. Have a Q for you...CT's what are they lined with? Is there a chanch of getting one with organic velour at all? They are a nioce fit on my little bugger
Christy - I am so glad you love the IB....As soon as I saw the person put it down as their swap I knew it was the perfect one for you.
hey Nettie - you got so many nappies cause you sent so many out woman!!
LP - honey hope that tonight improves for you babe and I have to tell ya...my kids fight over that dame blanket now lol
Now iM wondering if any cloth mama's are gonna be setting up a stand at this baby expo and Ange TEXT me with the specials tomorrow nite woman!!!
christy - I wish the IB would fit Nina. She's about 14.8kg, but only the bbh fitted fit her as her hips are too wide for any aio's. A shame really, cause I love IB's.
Well my girl is pretty much tt, so I'm thinking of selling half of her stash of bbh fitted. She has something like 45 of them, and I don't think I'll use them all with Emily, as I have heaps of Magicalls for her, and getting some large ib's for her.
And I can't believe that Emily is out of her medium IB's already! She's only 5 months old. She's such a little porker.
Jodi- you made me think.... your selling me your dlish for MJ for cause you bub you is younger then MJ has grown out of them!!! LOL so funny, man Mj needs to put on some weight.. we are in the 10th percentile atm...
Im so jealous of the melb girls!!!!! to bad didnt get the kevin rudd money earlier.. could have flown for the meet up
well i have my first cloth meet tomorrow, should be fun.. had so much trouble deciding which nappies to put in mjs bag... do you think she will need 6 nappies in 2hrs
oh but perfect weather for showing of fluffy bum.. 30 degrees so dress weather!!!!
hmm what else...
i really hope all you lovely ladies are doing, well.. i know i often forget personals... must be the peroxide i had put in my hair last week.
what else? what else?
Maz - They are microfleece. you prefer cotton velour dont you? Let me see what I can find out for you. thanks for the strip wash hun. a little bit pg brained atm and cant be bothered searching all the threads.
Well, DH has to re thread the hot inlet on the WM :( GRR!!
Ness - Yould encourage her to use 6 in 2 hours ;) or you could 'accidentally' drop your bag so they all fall out.
:o 45 BBH's Jodi - holly cow woman...once you sell them you'll have enough to put a deposit on a penthouse
 ah you crack me up Ness - And noice job on the new work ;) had a sticky and they look good  Oh dont tease about coming over either woman!
Ali - ah you pg woman I dont know. Hope the strip wash works for ya babe. Ive now got a CT thanks to the nappy swap and its fab...was wondering why Mateauz bum and woo hoo area was red though...would be lovely if OV would be an option.
I had a certain little bugger in the shower with me tonight and he was laughing so hard taht he was farting at the same time so I then started laughing which made him laugh more and fart more...total crack up..and oh we have a hole in our gum...first tooth coming!!! WOO HOO he's only 9 1/2 months old :o
Of to finish 5 covers that I have to take to Melbourne for the lovely Mr Caleb and Miss Lulu herself
WOVB- catnaps butterfly honeyboy (her favourite yuckies as she calls them)
WOMB - sposie and shiat loads of cream
WOmyB - jed unfortunately
Ali - I had leaks on the HW of my WM and turned out it wasn't a problem with the hose etc., it was the microcircuitboardthingy that was making it drip (go figure).
have worked out a way for DH to put cloth on Pip. Only buy "cut for cloth" clothing that only stays up over cloth bum ;)
WoHB - bubblebots night nappy & fj cover (i love that cover)
no offense taken Maz, i get embarrassed when sometimes references are made to me (made innocently, but), as if i'm the "go to person" - cos i regard this thread as a community - and there are heaps of us on here that have been using MCN for a good while, and feel confident enough to help others - i feel like we're a team - to help the newbies - so when i get singled out, i feel awkward and unsure how to handle that. Especially cos i don't want all the other people on here to feel left out. I like team sports better than individual sports!
i know lots of it is just joshing but i'm a sensitive soul and the comments always make me worried "how will the other people feel about that?". Cos if you knew me IRL, i hate to offend anybody.
NESSA - i'm sure MJ will be very spunky in any of her ittis.
CHRISTY - is the PUL IB for Jovie or Matilda? (I cannot remember what size Matilda is these days).
MY secret swap arrived today - the norty SS had done express post and everything ! i really don't expect my swapper to go into debt to post stuff to me! but thank you anyhoo. i am rapt with my swap, Maz you must have had SO MUCH FUN organising this! cannot believe how perfectly it has worked out! BIG APPLAUSE for the organiser! Wooot Maz!!!
Is Mat reacting to organic velour Maz?
The cute tooshies bamboo delights is bamboo velour next to the skin as far as i'm aware.
FJ - is Isla TT=d? If i had any nb sposies i would send them to you, gave mine away long ago. we had bambo nature for first five days (in hospy - dh refused to cart mcn back and forth from hospy).
PINK - sorry you're suffering the after c-section affects. i had as mnay things at home up on boxes, or shelves to make them higher, to reduce bending down. Even had the washing machine and drier raised - that was brilliant.
c-section is the equivalent of major abdominal surgery, i have no idea how you would go about "being gentle with yourself" when you have a toddler as well! Hope you dh is home and you are getting good support.
LIL P - sorry to hear about your eye, hope the doc can clear that up for you. So hard to get anything meaningful done when your eye is itchy and sore.
ALIOOPS - hope your washing machine dramas are over soon, what a drag - house all set up but can't wash MCN! grrr to that.
Gigi PInk had the accidental home birth and Katones had the c/s ;)
Matilda's TT during the days now :) which is fantastic, still wants a pull up overnight and still wee's in them.... I know someday we are going to have to kick the pull up habit... but maybe when life gets a bit less crazy and I get a waterproof mattress protector.
Jovie, however, is 14kg!!! OMG! Huge heffalump.
Gigi, No, Isla has somewhat lost interest. Or more that she has realised its more fun to just keep doing whatyour doing & wee on the floor.
I was mostly giving her so much nappy free time as she has that rash I couldn't budge, which is all good now. She was doing really well with very few accidents & then one day she just went ahh bugger it, heres as good a spot as any.
But like your Bilby she is only 10kg maaaaayyyybe 11 at the very most. So on the 13kg TT thing she still is a little bit off.
I also figured that COme baby, things will go outt the window a bit anyway so why push it now, just re doit all in a few months time KWIM.
Christy, have you tried Jovie in a sposie overnight? Isla is sleeping soooooooo much better now. I haven't gotten up to her once since swtiching. Its F**king GREAT! lol
FJ Jovie only slept 4 hours last night *groan* still sick and up all night... even laying on top of us, she lays there and cries. I may take her to the GP yet again today... Over it.
So ummm no not yet LOL I thought there was no use changing it as we wouldn't know if it made a difference or not yet.
awww poor possum
lol Snap Maz re: $1k bonus thread lol
Well i have been quiet lately. But all is good here :)
Christy - so sorry about the girls :( Hey where do you get that butchers paper you were talking about?
Fj - how is the bub going? Not long to go now :) love your pic btw.
I would love to try nappy free time with ashley but scared she'll get *****les out side on her wooha and wee on the carpet inside.lol
Going to retry my prefolds when DS needs a change :) DH has done the changes this morning so the sposies keep going on :)
WOAB - Baby cheeks Pocket
WOEB - Sposie
PP I get it from Ikea :)
Hey PP! Prefolds are great when you find your groove. I always did the trifold fanned out, but DH just did (I think it's called) the Bikini twist. Basically you lie bub on the flat prefold, and twist it once between their legs. Does that make sense? I can do one of my Instructograms? if you need. :p
Christy, that sounds heartbreaking mate. Hope you guys all get some health and sleep soon.
Can't think what else I was going to say. Just remembered I need to call Rans, I was going to get up with him at 7am, but I think I was somewhat of a sleep-krang from memory, so I probably need to call, find out what I said, and then apologise for it. :p
PP - I'm so glad everything is going well there!!!!
hey, can anyone tell me some sized all in ones - that aren't too expensive!!! i've been thinking about my nappy problem for day care and - thanks to Ash - I have sorted out 5 of them but just need a few more..
I was going to go with sized BumG's - cos I think it'll take a while for her to get to 7kgs - not sure what she is now - but she's the same build as her brother who fits into medium IB's - so i think I'll get more use out of the smalls at the moment than buying mediums..
But are there any others that everyone recommends? Sized AIO's? Bar MD's and BG's?
WOAB: Bum G (Day care)
WOMB: WC
Sized AIO's? Um...Bubblebubs, Ittis (sewn in are simpler), HoneyBoys, Magicalls, Rumpster Oh's, Swaddlebees, VeryBaby, WildChild Daydreamers...
Will come back as I think of more.
(BumG AIO's aren't a bad option considering they're on sale at NN currently, if there's any left in the size you want)
(BerryPlushes are AI2's, but still a pretty darned good option, and not hard to use)
Ok got a few bubblebubs (bit too expensive - eek!), ittis - got heaps but didn't want them to bother with snaps cos of the whole wing droop thing that we get if its not put on correctly and I don't trust them to take the time and I don't want either kid to pee over everything!!
Never tried a honeyboy - where do I get them from??
Magicalls - dont' work for us..
Rumpster - don't know anything about them.. tell me MORE.. LOL
Mel whats your address? I'll send you a honeyboy to trial... its a medium but BUT it does have butterfly's on it ;)
Awww Christy thats lovely!!!! (which child would the medium fit??)
Rumpsters are pricey too. Most people who have them like them. I think they're at Darlings Downunder...and perhaps a few other places.
Not sure where you'll get HoneyBoys from...can you sew, by any chance?
there's a few HB on buy for baby atm...their good Mel...Ive got a few and Vy even wears one as her night time nappy now. Perfect for DC..I'll see if I have any smalls here that I can send up to you
Does anyone want anything from the baby expo this weekend? ive gotta get some IB for Jodi and Kelly ( and myself of course ) )
ETA - Pink, great minds think alike ;) and I used Prefolds cause Nelle swore by them. I tried them and I loved them just as much. I still put them on Mateauz and stuff his SB with them....
OH Mel - get onto the american SB site..they often have seconds or heavily reduced SB..arrrrr I have a little girl jumping on the couch with her pram...its arse whopping time
That's alright, neither can I Mel. :p Well...I can in a straight line.
So where can HoneyBoys be bought nowadays anyway? *shakes fist at Cat* Why oh why did you have to close, oh marvelous HB maker?? Selfish! :p
LOL I have 3 honeyboys but 2 were homemade by my friend. They are dora fleecey & great nappies for around the house. DH likes them too....
