oh poo! ok not wanting them .
The motherease are great with the little gussetts mel!
How long did mehkelti stay in nb wraps?
I have 10 small pul/wool/fleece covers so need to just get by until his little bottom is big enough
PP - like I said - will answer here.

Yeah M/E are the bomb - love them to death. Miss M was in them for about 7 weeks I think? Some of the smalls are only JUST fitting her now, but the nb are a bit too small - especially in the rise - with the exception of the M/E.

Gigi - Its difficult with one - especially if they are throwing a tantrum!!! We are ALWAYS running late in this house....

ETA - Nelle - I looked on the DD website - apparently I've been putting the ecobubs on the WRONG way.. pmsl... the pocket bit actually goes on the front.. PMSL...no wonder it just didn't look right.. ROFL

PP - yeah should be. I lived with just those for a while - but had a few AIO's I could use - so I would use a prefold, then and AIO, then a prefold - with a different cover - so my covers were getting a good airing. Didn't have any poo explosions either on a cover - until today!! BOOOO... lol

Kat - poor thing!! DS goes red straight away if put into a sposie - so it could be??? I found bepanthen to be by far the best bum cream.

PP - stains would wash out i'm sure... with the prefolds - I snappied them - so fold it into three - then make the back half like a triangle by pulling the wings out - and turn it over at tthe front. She has slim hips so it always fitted...

I find the pad fold gives that little more absorbancy for ethan.
hopefully the leaks wont be bad. I have fleece liners in and it seems to grab the pumpkin poo and hold onto it

The flap at the front inside... do you tuck the padfold under that?

PINK - a few brands have that bit at the front on the cover inner, where it looks like you should put the tail end of the prefold pad in there, i thought about it, but decided against it, cos that would have meant bilbs would have had PUL against her tummy - and i thought about it - and decided i would rather have bamboo against her tummy (a natural fibre).

if you are after leg gusset covers, here are the brands that do leg gusset covers that i can think of, i bet other people can add to this list for you:

    - thirsties (at nurture nappies)
    - bummibrites (same)
    - tots bots - not sure about the newest ones, the flexi wraps, but the type before those, had gussets
    - motherease rikki (you didn't answer my question about what size your bub is)
    - modern baby
    - imse vimse
    - bambino mio (it's either Kazbah or Ecapris who knows where to buy these IRL cheaper)

thanks everyone - for putting up with my whinge about going out - i tell dh that going to the beach is not just something we can do SPONTANEOUSLY anymore, but he keeps springing stuff like that on me, and wonders why it goes pearshaped! i find this maddening. i would like notice to prepare.

FJ - i REGUARLY spend the "ok, we're not going anywhere now, until i find my sunnies or key, despite that i THOUGHT we were all good to go.

the person who keeps the nappy bag in the car - so you bring it inside AFTER the trip, decant, refill and THEN put it back in the car? i tend to put last minute things like sippy cup with fresh water, and snacks in too.
i thought i was disciplined having the childcare nappy bag packed the night before. have a long way to go yet!
last night i typed out "cheat sheets" listing all the things we need to have packed, for various outings. wonder if we will even remember to look at the lists!!!

i really did expect you all to tell me to "pull my head in and stop being so silly"! so thanks for your kind words. aw - emoticon inseert here!!!

WOTBB: night nappy put on by dh (he's not entirely a lost cause!!).

oh and PINK PALACE, i know that nb poo is very yellow, but between the little squirt and the microfleece liners and using the pre-soak on the washing machine cycle, i was able to give back lent nb nappies WITHOUT stains, so dont' worry hon. i was so nervous about what condition those nappy inners would be!!! but it worked out fine.

KATONES: bilbs rashed up early on, to JJ baby wipes, the ones marked "Sensitive". then i read the list of ingredients and realised why. Next step was to buy 30 cloth wipes and only use those with water, to clean her at change time.
Have you read "what's in a sposie" at the Nurture Nappy website? you find it under INFO as you look ACROSS the top of the home page. click on INFO, then WHAT"S IN A SPOSIE. I find it entirely feasible, after reading that, to think that very thin and new skin like on a nb, could be affected by sposies.

i have a Gastro Stash ready for anytime bilbs gets the runs. Flats, prefolds, contours - all MCN without elastic - that can be washed at 90 degrees. (and leg gusset covers to handwash). i read a fantastic thread on nappycino about bubs in sposies or MCN during gastro. and how to manage it in cloth. THe bubs in sposies had LONGER attacks of gastro because the environment for the gastro bug to thrive, is what sposies provide. I've only had to use it once in two years, but it worked. (using loopy fabric, very simple MCN). and no microfleece liners, cos you need NATURAL fabrics, not synthetics, to make the environment less attractive to gastro bugs.

(this info is not to make you change what you're doing, it's just to let you know there are alternatives). I'm not sure i would have had the "where with all" to do this with a nb, i did it when bilbs was much older.

thanks Gigi - i thought the same and put them on top of the flap (sorry to confuse you mel lol).

I am using flannel prefolds in them and they seem to last 2 hrs until soaked.. have my bamboos too ready and waiting... might keep flannels for day time maybe???

Just a trifold bamboo seems thick to stuff in the little cover!

i put baby beehind foldups (double layer of bamboo fleece, 30 x 30cm) padfolded into nb covers, from five days old. (for a baby with a birthweight of 3.79kg).

you still haven't said what your baby weighs! would you prefer not to answer that? this is the last time i'm asking (in case it's offending you).

Gudi - is it the Ecobubs that have the pocket opening on the tummy side? Most pockets have it at the back end, so i coudl well understand you doing it back to front. (i would have too).

Katones another thought here... and not one to worry you too much, but sometimes when they have a food intolerance overload, so something they could usually tolerate, but you've consumed heaps of in the last week or so, can cause explosive yellow poos. I mean the almost frothy stuff that explodes straight away. Matilda had that, and I didn't know why, but when Jovie had it I found out that its frequent in milk overload. Both my girls are allergic to milk though, so thats different but it definately changed things when I went off milk.

Gigi - don't worry, the number of times I've gone out with out nappies and wipes, you know a bottle of water and a singlet can do an awesome job of cleaning up poop, as can toliet paper, McDonald serviettes, tissues, the spare change of clothes we keep in the car (which she has always outgrown by the time i need to use them!) I had a similar situation to yours with nappy at the beach and Ari sitting unexpectedly in water! Have no idea what i did. I remember once when DS was little he ended up going home wrapped in a blanket as he had pooped all over both sets of clothes and the 3 nappies I had (sposies -thus the pooexplosion) Ahh it's awesome what we women can do under pressure.

Nelle & Arimeh - I did the same with my GNST! Took me a few days to figure it out.

Nappy news - woohoo Ari has slept thru the last 2 nights in cloth and we're making it a third. Bought the most gorgeous minky slushie abby grow from cuddlesncloth pink with orange top - so hard to decide with all those BEWTIFUL colours in front of me!!!

Ali - thanks for popping in and showing us your gorgie nappies at RNW. Today went so quickly and I am completely knackered

Anyway must go sleep while Ari is still down in case we have yet another wakeful night.

WOHB : Bumg with extra bamboo and hemp boosters and Maz cover (finally found a good use for my velco Bum G)

Had a great time at the expo, very tiring though! Got myself a little fluff though, so very exciting! Was amazing how many people were interested in MCN. More were interested than not i thought which is great.

I also got my gorgeous Pinnies from FJ. And not only is the pinnie gorgeous, she gave me TWO!! What a kind, thoughtful and lovely lady you are FJ. Many thanks. MWAH. MWAH. MWAH. (Thanks to my pack horse for lugging all my stuff down too! Shanks Mazza)

Hmmmm i 'think' i used to put my ecobubs on back to front now that you mention it Mel!
