    Morning!
Sorry to hear about your car Gigi, that sux!

I ordered as mix of BBH Bamboo, Cute Tooshies with PUL and wool covers and D'Lish's for going out. I'm soo excited. How often should I be changing during the day with these nappies? Is once per feed enough if no poo? About 4 hrly? Does it depend on the baby? I'm paranoid about him getting a rash......
with MCN, you can change them as often as they need it.

e.g you change them, they poop 15mins later, we just changed her again.

baby's skin is very thin, coming into contact and sitting in their own poo for 1.5 hours more, just cos it hasn't been two hours yet, may encourage nappy rash.

i wouldn't expect any more than two hours out of a nb nappy, but we happily changed more often than that, whenever we noticed her pooing or the prefold felt wet. WHen a baby is breastfeeding on your lap, and you FEEL the vibrations and sounds of the pop pop noises in the nappy LOL, it's not hard to work out = oops, she pooped again!

you're right, babies process their milk at different rates. mine was a freq small amount pooper. i've met bubs who only pooped once every ten days at nb stage.

it's important, once you have cleaned baby's bottom (facewasher and water is all you need, our bub got nappy rash from supermarket J brand Sensitive wipes!!!), to ensure their bottom is entirely dry BEFORE you put the next nappy on them. When in a hurry, we did this by sprinkling baby powder. If not in a hurry, and in warm weather, we let her be naked for a few minutes.

there are "ideals" with everythign you do, we all do whatever works for us. it's when things didn't work for us, and i posted questions online, that people gave me suggestions on different ways of doing things, i tried them, kept the ones that worked FOR US.

e.g if you have multiple children, i imagine changing as often )as we did) would be alot harder to achieve. we only had and have one baby to worry about. So, no disrespect to mums of multiple kids.

    alert!

    morning ladies!

just put an itti on DD for the 1st time, after taking off a pooey disposable, and what does she do 10 mins later (and after I pat her soft fluffy butt a few times he he), a massive newborn style explosion!

What do I do????? I couldnt let it roll into the toilet so I tried to get as much off with a wipe as I could. I know your not supposed to need to soak them, but I surely cant put that in the machine with her other clothes can I?

How do you normally get that type of poo of?
in this home, we got that off and still do, using the Little Squirt. it's a water attachment gun you put on the toilet cistern. looks like a water hose sprayer.

You put the nappy low down in teh toilet bowl, aim the Little Squirt at it, and the poo goes down the loo. so then you have a now sopping nappy to put in your "Dry" Pail.

everybody uses a different method, but that's what works for us.

    KATONES
he is sleeping for 3/4 hr stints is it OK to leave him in a cloth nappy that long? or should i change him every 2hrs??

Are his nappies absolutely sodden when you change (at the four hour mark?)

if they are, i would attempt at least one DREAM FEED. if he sleeps thru it, it's a dream feed. (keep the lights dim).
If the change wakes him and makes it hard to get him back to sleep, then i would reconsider the dream feeds.

Do you have a stay dry layer in his nappies (microfleece liners etc?)

some things are a "suck it and see" type of proposition.

You never know unless you try.

Four hours straight of sleep at his age? wow. impressive!
