I'm sad... Miss M is finally too big for the FJ newborn nappy - at nearly 4.5 months.. pmsl...sooo FJ - you can add a weight limit of around 6.3kg... lol
It was one of my favs.... have to wait for the next baby now!!!
Christy - is it just me or are you ignorning my requests for your address ?
Gigi - yes i know! lol that is why these are way too big for ashley lol! here other 2 i made are a nice snug fit!
As for TT - i too need to look up what to do - atm ashley tell us when she has to pee/poo or has already done one - it is very hit and miss with timing. and trying to figure out if she needs to or has already. but she is comfy on the toliet at least
Nelle - the measurements are (flat, unstretched and one side)
Rise 14 inch (the waist band in k2-2 and 4 inches of that rise)
waist - 8 inch
hips - 13 inch
so big anyhow they are lanolised already. Just PM me if you think they will fit
Gigi - thanks for the tips on washing my stash, Im itching to get started but they have to arrive first lol thankgod for mega hot weather here, I could probably do 4 washes in a day with drying in between!
Out of curiousity what do you guys use as wash powder? I know you cant use softeners.
Oh and Wetbags, who uses them? Are they worth spending $15+ to get one or is there a better cheaper alternative?

Anna - i dont have a special wet bag. I use a pvc lined swimming bag for big days (child care) and a small platic ziplock bag that came with my change mat for small trips (as i know i will be home in an hour or so)
As for wash powder.
I use soap nuts on my nappies. havent used washing powder in months now.

Anna - for wash powder, i use Aware Sensitive by Planet Ark.
Bilby had teh worst nappy rash last January, and it made me go research alot of things, to stop her rash.
we use
- one tablespoon in the pre-wash tray
= one tablespoon in the wash tray
and you're right NO FABRIC CONDITIONER
what is in washing detergents?
parabens (cheap preservative put in many body and hair products and toothpastes and moisturisers adn makeup, many people get skin irritations to parabens)
many many things are added to NORMAL washing detergents
so i searched for ones that DIDN"T have all these things added
the most gentle ones i found were Ecostore and Aware Sensitive.
Amolin, Earth's Choice and one other, maybe PURITY??, all came close, but they each had ONE thing, that i was tryign to avoid.
Many people do their own (empirical) research, by trying different products, to see what works for their child.
Baby's skin is much thinner than ours, and can react to washing detergents, especially when you consider how frequently their nappies are washed, adn the fabric is direct on very sensitive areas.
So it's a trial n error process, and taking the time (when i'm childfree) to read the labels, google those words and educate myself on what i'm buying (time consuming - but when your bub has awful nappy rash, it suddenly becomes your priority).
So i happily used Omo Sensitive to wash the nappies for first 14 months - no worries - then overnight - suddenly it was too much for her. things can change.
$15 is lower end price for a good sized wetbag. baby beehinds don't promote their wetbag much, i wish i'd known about them earlier. excellent value wetbag (i have three diff brand ones). Much easier to toss the wetbag into the wash than wipe out your nappy bag. ANd the smell containment is worth it. (zip).
Anna - If you want to try liquids the green care is ok I think. I am about to try the ecostore. I have tried the Aware a few years ago and I found it didn't wash anything very well, but they may have improved their formula since then.
Do you still have the bag your Peapods came in? You can use that as a wetbag for short trips and if you have more than one then you can keep them in your nappy bag and always have somewhere for a few nappies.
Em will go back into cloth today since I have strip washed. The tea tree smell is gone from all the nappies so I think all the residue is gone from the nappies. I hope that is what caused it!!
Gigi - Nah not nesting, My parents are coming up just after we get back, I need to get the spare room cleaned out so we can put the futon in there for them to sleep, and the cat is coming up around then too so she needs the laundry all set for her. I have so much washing to sort and put away!!
PP - they should be easy to take in, just undo the seam and sew it a few more stitches in if it has side seams. You can tack the excess to the front or back so it doesn't get in the way.
With TTing - It is much easier when they can let you know, and even if they have already done it, put them on the loo as soon as they tell you. If you are not sure if that is what they are telling you, put them on the loo. They will soon figure it out. Have a mop and bucket ready to go at all times, and keep the potty on hard floors. If they want to play with it then let them, Sarah used to put her toys in it and push it around. Have access to both potty and toilet for them, sometimes they prefer one over the other. Let them watch you use the toilet. And dont pressure them, accidents happen, if they are getting stressed about it, stop for a few weeks and try again. Most of all, Make it FUN!! Kids love toilet paper!!
WOTB: Sposies, next change will be something cloth!!
Anna - dont worry about a wet bag - Ive got a spare jam tots one here for ya
Ali - oh we are to much in sink with thinking me thinks
gigi - Im one of these mum's who doesnt try to control the whole TT situation. I just let Vy take control...in my eyes it is her body, not mine so I have no idea when she needs to wee or pooh for that fact. I NEVER make a deal out of wetting herself or missing....I just clena it up whilst satying..oh next time we'll get the potty wont we with a smile. I put a potty in the bathroom and she takes herself when she needs. I let her walk around bottomless on any given day (helps with her still bad scabby bum and front bum) and if I see a slight wiggle to the needing to go kind, I just say - go potty babe. She has now upgraded herself to the big toilet and had left the potty just to do pooh's in. She's also discovered the joy of toilet papaer and has to use it everytime ...Ive done it this way with all 3 kids but in saying that it might not work for someone else. I get worried about back lash expecially with Wilhelm so I have never tried pushing it. I as an adualt dont feel comfortable being pushed, tricked and blackmailed with treats into something so why would I do that to my child??
anywho...are big thing atm is keepign the night time nappy one...we've beent aking it of and throwing it on the floor through the night...only one accident so far *fingers crossed*
Daddle doo had nickers in her store that are lined with bamboo for training...i think thats a fantastic idea.
ok off to wrap some pressies before I hit the post office tomorrow...I can see me spending at least $100 in postage
OH and Jed now decideds he wants to go chriostmas shopping with the kids NEXT SATURDAY :OMG: is he for real!!!!!!
Anna and Ali - I have been having a big clean up here and have lots of nappy and nappy related stuff if you gals want to drop round for a coffee one day and you can take whatever you like. Ali - have to show you my covers with the gussets also.
Washing powder - don't know why but *i love liq more than powder with nappies??? We use purity and now earth's choice. Have also used amolin but found purity the best for getting out stains, earth choice is a close second.
Wetbags, have 3 here nad hardly ever use them. The only one i do is our nappy bin liner which goes to daycare.
TT - we are in the midst. which both my kids we just put them in knickers and see how they went. Ari is taking quite a while, she sometimes takes her nappy off and sits on the potty for a wee, but rarely will go while in knickers??? DS took 2 wks to be completely trained and another maybe 4 months to be night trained but we have since found he has autism and hates being wet - so obviously this was motivation for him. We alway make a big deal about doing wees in the potty etc and i will usualy sit them on after dinner/sleep/plays only if they willing.
going out for dinner - woohoo love surprises like this so better go! Also Dh has just announced he doesn't want me to go back to work AT ALL next year WOOOOOHOOOOOO having issues with daycare which I think is what got him thinking - either way I'm not arguing!
PP- She has nooooo idea! She has nappy off time and still randomly wees without even being aware that it's happening until she steps in the puddle on the floor! lol The other day she was in a toilet with me at swimming, ripped off some toilet paper and pretended to wipe her bum. but not sure that is a sign!!!! But you never know what the summer will bring, i'm not in any hurry anyway, too many nice nappies. lol
Saram- Have a lovely dinner. Nice about not having to work!
With washing powder I used to use ecostore, but have just switched to the powder from Wild Child as it is so good on Jaidans eczema and I only need 15 grams per wash!!
I have 2 wetbags. A wahm wahmies quick change and a sock monkey double one. Would be lost without them tbh! So easy to just chuck them in with the nappies after a day out!!
Oh Sarah...you might have to get UTD next year then to give yourself another year or 2 or ...heheheheh
PP babe....do the normal undies hon espcecially if she's showing signs already.....training pants..i didnt even bother with them this time would have been a waste of $$$ for me. Only prob I find with TP's is they still dont let the kids feel what its like to pee themselves IFYKWIM..the feeling of it running down their legs ect...TP's would soak alot of that up.
Ange - no expert..soon enough you will be babe and I would have expected 24 - 48 hours...I hate that I pay for my stuff straight away...grrr stupid people.
Who was asking about washing powder again???? I dont use any..nope..but have taken on what Christy does and I now use a bit or bicarb every now and then (when they are smelly) and every 3 wash I use a cap full of disinfectant. Vy's nappy rash is now gone and Mateauz isnt suffering half as bad as he was before hand.
kat honey - will send you back your cover and those BBH's...havent had time to make the surprise yet but I wont forget either
Must get back to it....dame folding of Mount Bourke bits!
WOMB - Mirabai night nappy and parrot pants (the ones I bought Vy that were way to big for her fit HIM)
WOVB - IB fitted with fairy maz-a-licious fleecie
