Hi, I'm another lurker that's come out of hiding.

I have a question I hope someone can answer, DS is fast outgrowing his small/NB PUL covers and I wanted to get something more breathable but I'm concerned about how fleece goes under clothes, do the clothes end up feeling damp?

I also got that Itti bitti email and I'm trying very hard, though not very succesfully, to convince myself I don't need any more nappies

the itti bitti boos - very nicely made, we found them very absorbent.

the Disana woollies? we have been using the Disana woollen pullup soaker for over night nappies, so i can tell you about that one.

    • australian wool, german made soaker
    • high rise (wonderful for night nappies therefore)
    • lovely and soft
    • great to have no closures - esp at night! just PULL upwards
    • buy a much bigger size than your bub currently needs
    • see photos of babies wearing them at the greenmountaindiapers site, that's what gave me the idea to buy a XL when bilbs was the weight for an M - it's worked out beautifully. instead of buying a new one for every size, we'll just use the one, until tt-ing - so good economical value.

i think the woollen pullup soaker is def worth the dollars
not so sure about the leggings.

    welcome Eugenia!

    fleece does breath well.

fleece can get compression leaks e.g in the car, if fitted underneath is completely sodden.

in general though, if a fleece cover is wicking, that would be a sign to me, that i need either a more absorbent nappy for my child (more layers), or to add more boosting. Your child may be weeing more now, and with mcn you need to customise the nappy combo to their wetting pattern.

the frequency of changing them also comes into play. you do need to change them more often, then when they're in sposies.

i used lots of fleece covers from five days old, no problems.
plus i used malden mills fleece pockets for nights, honeyboy aio from 5kgs (brilliant)

cover MUST cover 100% of the nappy underneath
if the nappy does not have enough absorbent fabric in it, or has been left on too long, eventually, the cover will become wet

Welcome Lea - we use the bear bottoms MM fleece pullup soaker - it's excellent. machine wash and dries fast. great night cover for us usually.

when buying any cover or woollies, you need to know your own child's NIGHT RISE - this is, their rise measurement OVER their night nappy. Buying a night soaker or cover, with the rise measurement in mind, means you will buy something that WILL entirely cover their night nappy. Woollies are not all short rise, it all depends on the rise you buy. So take a bit longer to measure and communicate with seller, and you'll end up getting what you need. i buy a few cms more rise than bilby currwently needs, to allow fdor growth. too big in woollies, works fine - you just pull in that drawstring and it fits.

Robyn of possum pouches is great to communicate with, tell her your child's rise BEFORE you order a woolly. Apply that to any night cover you buy, your success rate will shoot up.

MAZ - did bertha behave for you last night??

hmmmm yeah Maz did bertha play nicely?? was just thinking about that
yep have to agree...if Jack soaks a nappy and has a fleece cover on we get'damp' here too....nothing a change of clothes doesn't fix
