for repelling - a drop or 2 of dish washing detergent in the wash.

Gigi, thanks for the info on Robyn's nappies. No, I'm not having another one, and Tyler is still under 9kg, but I must have read wrong and thought they were for over 9kg. He's probably close to 9kg so maybe they're not worth getting. I'll measure Ty as you instructed and email Robyn and see what she thinks.
Lea, I'm thinking about getting the deluxe trial pack but I'm a little cautious because my babies have always been the squirmiest creatures and I've found to date with Blake at least that putting on one layer - ie AIO or Pocket is easier than a fitted and a cover. Can you 'sell' to me why I should be getting BBHs. Thanks.

gigi, i had never heard of twinkle lily, me must go and replenish the bank account and fund another nappy, they look so nice!
sad but true - none of my fluff came today, was hoping it woudl while DD is away so i dont have to admit to buying t all LOL!!!
its funny - so far, we dont seem to have a problem with any nappies, they are all working really well on her, and we have so many different ones
a big woo hoo - her first night, all night, in one nappy - a BBB with maz cover. 2 dream feeds (well, she stirs but she gets the boby in her mouth before she wakes) and straight back to sleep, quick side chek to make sure no poo and mummy back to sleep toowas great! 4 weeks old today

i stip wash my napy by doing a rinse, then adding a small abount of dishwashig detergent, then check the wash half way through , if there are still bubbles floating around , i do another was untill the disappear .. i strip wash everyt 3 months . not leaving it too late or : when they need it, and by doing this they never smell or repell wee ...
but its just what i do to keep my stasg in top condition .. not sure if i need to though ..
ok , i have to fly out the door ... but BBH are great .. they are so soft (and stay that way .. and the whole thing is absorbent .. and its all natural fibers next to the skin .. antibacterial and antifungal , and long long lasting ... OSFA .. so if you have more than 1 child you can use them at the same time ..

Kitt3n I have a twinkle lily. Similar to an itti but a bit wider in crotch and with both sewn in and snap in booster. Haven't used it yet though as too big for Ruby.

there are different kinds of PUL - different thicknesses of it, like one or two mm types. Different qualities of it, the thinnest one i hear about is the ripstop type, you buy at spotlight. You can get PUL with cotton fabric laminated on top, polyester fabric laminated on top, lycra etc. minky laminated to it.
some mcn have a hidden PUL layer and a separate "pretty" layer on top, not laminated to it, just sewn together at the edges.
Lea - do you have the OSFA swaddlebees or the SIZED swaddlebees? bilby only suits the SIZED swaddlebees, not the OSFA, as the crotch is too wide for her in the OSFA sb's..

Arimeh - the trouser hanger trick heh? we use that one too, great space saver when the clothes horse is "fully booked".
Wardy - the budget cloth pack by ceejaynappies, is fitted nappies from birth - 9kg - it's aimed at mums with newborns, as an introduction to mcn.

hiya ladies - i read here fairly often (and then google lots of nappies - this is a very bad thread for my cc!!!) - anyways - have read a few things over time about wet bags - but i'm not sure where to look or what to look FOR!
so, i'm coming to the experts (or at least the ones that talk nappies most!)
what do i look for in a wet bag? my circs are a little different to most people - if i go "out" for a while, i'm out at least 6 hours - i live a fair way from anything, and with a baby, i'm likely to make the most of the time away from home. going to mum's for dinner is generally going to be at least 8 hours at her place, maybe longer... so do i get a large wet bag (recommendations would be good) so that if i go shopping or whatever, i have plenty of room, or do i get a smaller one - but maybe get two - so if i go shopping and then go to mum's for dinner (in that case i'm out from maybe 9am til 8pm minimum) and then use one while out and about, one at mum's - so stinky nappies aren't being opened and closed all the time? any advice or recommendations would be great (brands included!) - i'm sooo a novice at this so i read lots, and take on board what i can, but wet bag discussions don't seem to be that frequent with names and stuff
so tell me what i should be looking at doing!

Lea I have about 7 BBB's & mine ain't soft at all... They aren't that old but they are rather hard. I don't really want to have to tumble dry them all the time to get them soft again. Any suggestions?
Its mostly around the leg & back elastic. Its hard in the way of being dense if that makes any sense

BG - I have the baby beehinds wet bag that came with their trial pack. its huge - but it doesnt clip onto anything as some of them do, though it does have a hook. I could fit my whole small stash in there!
so far so good, but have ordered a jamtots wetbag too (one that can snap onto the pram for shopping trips etc)......

BG- my advice would be to go two medium sized ones. Or a big and small one. Just easier to handle. If i am out for a big day, which is often as you know i too live in the country, i leave the big wetbag in the car and take a smaller one, and i pop any nappies in the big one and i'm good to go again with the smaller one.
I would also recommend a zip. holds smell in better.ummm as for brands i'm not sure what mine even are! I know Janie at theweewuns has some medium sized zip up ones as i was planning on getting a new one myself. I'm sure someone else will have a barnd recommendaion for you.

For those of you who use Green Kids, I have a qu. I am thinking about trying one, which of the GK booster/inserts do you recommend? I dont think DD is a huge wetter, if that helps (ie the insert or the booster?) I do think I'd prefer bamboo

OK, quick question... I measured Ty and he weighs about 9kg, he's got a 41cm waist and a 36cm rise. I was looking at wild child nappies (for example) and their sizing is Small/medium- 3kg-7kg waist 28-58cm rise 33-39cm and for Med/ large- 6kg-15kg waist 28-65cm rise 39-46cm.
Which do you think would be best to get? I'm leaning towards a small/medium but it doesn't give a lot of room to grow. Yet if I get a large, I think it's going to swamp him. I'll look at other brands and see if there's anything that might be 'better'.

Rachel get the med/lge. Iain is only 8 weeks old & while it is very roomy on him I can put him into the med/lge.
BG thats all I did. I made 2 that are about half the size of a pillow case & then put 3 snaps across the top to close it with a flap. Work well for me.
