Anna - we use wool covers here - longies are wayyy too hot in the summer months, so we are using shorties or soakers now. They work great - kids just wear them and a singlet to bed.

the opposite in fact.
there are WAHM's who make the woollies, who live in the tropics and their kids wear them all year round.
wool breathes better, has better ventilation than PUL.
so when it's 45 degrees in our DRY heat, i put wool on bilby, it's great, she stays cool and dry.

click on WHY WOOL for an explanation
we use woolly soakers and shorties in summer
we use woolly longies in winter
many people in the tropics have their bubs in just fitteds, but i would imagine when you leave the house, at childcare etc, you would need a waterproof cover - that would be the time to put the woolly soaker on.
go to ceejaynappies and click on budget knits - wonderful soakers there for a bargain price - be quick if you want one.
TANSTAR - the bmaboo inserts have arrived at Greenkids
look thru last few pages of this thread, for HOW TO M RISE, i posted about it
Suse - do you have a Honeyboy? how did it go on E's shape?
Maz baby, what are the size measurements for your covers sweets? I'm thinking we Ty being about 9kg that he'd be a medium. I guess that with his measurements he's going to be too small for a large. BTW, we loved the NB cover you made. His measurements (if you want to know them are waist 41, hips 43, rise 36cm
My DD is exactly as Gigi described it, really chubby thighs but a small bottom, so she needs double side snaps so we can get the right fit at thighs and tummy and a narrow crotch so there isn't a lot of extra fabric floating around. Not the easiest combination to find in XL sizes.
She sleeps in a wool soaker and I don't think it's too hot on her, at least she's never complained. I'm going to try my hand at knitting some shorties, the most complicated thing I've ever knitted is a scarf so I'll be needing lots of luck.
ok im just about to go for another shower, Gab just had a terrible bout of relflx and projettile vomited all over me !! blegh
FJ , my bhh COULORED BBH are stiff too .. but all my nautrals are soft as ! I think thats why they stopped productioon of the couloreds , now in the natural , there is more bamboo, keeping them softer .. Strong hot sun will stiffen them . and i agree with PP a tiny bit of wool was helps soften too .'
I also dry in the shade under he house if it looks rainy .. I love my naturals , but my well not all mainly the orange and pinks have gone stiffish ... does any one find is mainly rgose coulors that are the problem ?
the BBH wet bag is fab naturally i have about 4 and instead of putting naps in the bucket if im changing on the change table , i just hang one on the end and empty at the end of the day , one is for nix and his crap in the car and one is for the nappy bag and the other is around somwhere!
Anna -eenes are like undies wit velcro at the sides to rip off quickly , they have a pouch in the crotch to put a "pad" in them or you can put anthing absorbent in them ..eenees have special pads that you can flush. as a nappy i prolly wouldnt go there.. but they are great as toilet traing pants, they can rip em open at the sides and not have to pull anything down .. they are also very trim and great in the summertime
hmm what else... id inly use soakers or shorties here in qld for summer.. but here in our house AIO night nappies win...like the KK's, i have a sand man, vbsn and gnst , that are just sitting around becauuse i have no cover :(
i woul get you to do me up a cover , but i know your busy so its ok !!
am tempted to get oust of my fitted night naps... as i live aios , but i'll know i'll regret it .. the print on my sandman is too cute !
are there any nappy shops in syd ?? im going in feb and would love to come backnwith some fluff!!

Thanks Gigi - have bought some inserts and a booster for the ones I have. I got mail today! :leap: A Pea Pods that seems small but I dunno - the next size says 8kgs + but he is only 6, a Hautes and a Happy Heiny.
Stuffing seems to be an ancient art passed down from generation to generation - I need an instructional video! Trial and error I guess! Hoping my foamy wash and more fluff arrives tomorrow - I need cheering up seeing as DH left for Canada today - waaaaah. 16 days and counting.... Miss him already - I had tears when I walked into our bedroom before. Off to sook girls. Night night.
Tan DS is 7 months and almost 9kgs and still on the smallest snaps of his peapods so dont stress. He should fit for awhile
Awww Tan if I was there I'd spoon you ;)
pmsl...
I have been reading this thread a lot and looking up the wetbags on the sites Gigi mentioned.
Whats the deal with the loops or the ones that hand on the pram - why is this an advantage - is it just so you dont have an extra thing to try to fit in the nappy bag?
 Aawwwwwwwwwww fanks Mel!!!! It's ridiculous and I know it's not that long but I'm so used to having him around!
Ray- That's what I would think? Im looking at them too and my nappy bag sucks right now and a wetbag wouldn't fit so I would like the option of hanging.
oh and add me to the maz minkee madness club, Id be in for a minkee bag and nappy free time mat! lol
Ray - I usually hang my wetbag from my nappy bag - if that makes sense - or if its really heavy cos I've been out awhile - I chuck it in the basket at the bottom of the pram.
yep Mel I was thinking it would go in the basket under my pram
i'm thinking loops too for same reasons
but i like the cow print one rayray just linked me too - and no loop! how rude!

here is a pic of gabriella asleep in a pile of cloth.. awww i didnt stage it either !!!
and my wet bag get shoved in the bottom of the pram too ... would be too heave otherwise , or in th way, if i had something hanging on the pram i wouldnt be able to see dd .. i got a p&t and she down the bottom .. i got a real fancy one to hang over the change table (i think it had a loop ... not sure )
but wet bags are sure alot nicer than nappy sacks !!
i may add i have found missing wet nappies in random places (mainly the boot of the car) just because i dont keep track of the wetbag lol ....
