hiya ren - maz has a medium left in her stock (just looked!)
mel id start using 'something' to wash your nappies with, even if its bicarb, i think that would neurtralise the urine at the least
But it happened when I was using detergent... I just stopped recently - damage has already been done..... now I'm just waiting to see if any MORE want to come apart on me..
Maybe the universe is just trying to make cloth nappying hard for me - as if it wasn't already hard enough with 2 in cloth and working part time as well!!!! ;)
Thanks BG! I just looked and saw that.... I might grab it! Would that be super big for a newborn? I suppose with a BBH underneath it it would be fine huh....
Ren I would say that would be too big for a newborn honey - Miss M is only just into her mediums over the BBB's.
Unless you are planning on a 6kg bub of course ;)
Aww true.... Maz, if you had any small one's i'd buy one!! :D
Mel - hoping for less than 4kg actually!! thanks for your help
I have mainly Bamboo nappies... I've had the same ones as long as I've been in cloth and... no shredding. I used to use detergent, but I've stopped in the last 2-3 months.
Rayray- soap nuts are just nuts that lather up like soap. A complete natural product. I found a huge box of them for pretty cheap at the local organic markets... but there is an ecostore online or something like that which carries them.
PP  FWIW DH lovse cloth but has issues with cloth overnight, so he puts a sposie on and I put a cloth one on when I get her ready.... all for the sake of peace.
I have a Happy Heiny one Ren that I got on on darlingsdownunder - it's a one size and I like it lots! :)
Going away to my IL's for a few days tomorrow so I won't be online for a few days probably a good thing considering I've been a bit down lately. Was contemplating taking my stash but decided it was going to be too hard at this early stage so going the sposies - will come home to huge amounts of fluffy mail on Wednesday or Thursday though! :) Have a great week all!
FOR EUGENIA - i asked at NN what the crotch width of the Fuzzibunz pockets are, so you can work out if they are ok for your DD, and here is the reply i got:
fuzzibunz large have a crotch width of 15-16cm, I?ve never seen an XL so can?t tell you what the difference is, though I would actually expect it to be the same measurement across the crotch as the large.
:yeahthat: that's what I meant about the wee not cleansing properly during the wash. It may have been that the damage was already done and so it has just eventually let go and shredded without an apparent cause. And it could have been from a particularly toxic wee, or not washed quick enough, and that batch of bamboo may have been inferior, or as you say the booster is thinner so may have not been able to withstand it. Hopefully the showering with your nappies will prevent your other nappies suffering the same fate Mel!
Happy 2nd Birthday Aricyn
Happy 2nd anniversary of your birthing day Arimeh
Tanstar - you only find out by using MCN of all type closures, which ones suit your baby the best (at this stage). Every day you are putting the mcn on your child so many times, you make observations all the time, about what works and what doesn't. Just remember what does work, to keep at the front of your mind, when you make new purchases. Why woulnd't it be ok to say one type of closure doesn't suit your child? I say, good on you, for recognising what DOES work for your child. Soooo much easier to make decisions (on what to buy) when you know what you ARE looking for.
You may discover various types of aplix too - and develop a pref amongst those.
e.g
touchtape
hi tech 2000
hook and loop
spotlight velcro
i had some snibs and they didn't suit us. You tie up the front, just you you tie up a sarong. I found i could tie them up ok on my 3.79kg birthweight bub, but as soon as she started KICKING her legs, that movement undid the knots!
in my DAZE of trying to cope w c-section complications (e.g lotsa pain for months) i might have had the wrong size snib, dunno, it's all such ablur now.
i had my new bub in a heatwave too, but couldn't have her in just a fitted nappy, the poos were so explosive and runny, i would have had to change my own clothes a dozen or more, times per day, if i had not had her in a waterproof cover. Not to mention scrubbing the lounge, the carseat, my bed, etc etc. I only bought one nb cover during preg. cos i thought nb sized covers were an unnecessary extravagance. One week of beeing poo-ed on (cos i had bought SMALL covers) was enough to convince me to buy nb covers. Once i had the right size, no more leaks. bliss. less washing. bliss.
so i ended up doing the oppposite of what i THOUGHT i had figured out in preg, with my six months of non-stop MCN research! LOL it was SOOOOO different once i had a baby to try it out on!
suddenly i realised how crucial the covers were (leg gusset covers)
and how useful the non-glam but very useful bamboo prefolds were.
this was not how i wanted to be spending, when i was madly nesting and getting excited as a heavily preg mum to be!
Suse - i'm making a spesh request to see an action shot of Mister Spunky in his pirate Auriel - no pressure - LOL
RAY RAY - swaddlebees SIZED nappies, and Very Baby, are both what i would call NARROW crotched nappies.
there is a new Swaddlebee range in OSFA, which is much wider crotch, but that is the exception.
have you looked at the itti bitti boos in small?
size 1 bits for bots?
i liked the tots bots size 1 for the early daze too, i took off the aplix and used the snappi to do it up instead. i loved the way the snappi allowed me to get a good fit around madam's tiny chicken legs.
(i used an extra bamboo booster with the tots bots, to make them more absorbent).
like the tots bots, there are other brands that also do the basic "birth to 7kg" size
- i think they are really good value. dragonflymagik, bits for bots etc.
I once emailed to ask about the crotch width of the ecobubs wool pockets, adn decided they would be too wide for my bub. otherwise i would have got them.
SHELL - most items say "wash separately first time", or "wash with similar colours", so i follow the instructions.
dark coloured fleece items, i put in a zippered laundry bag, i am too lazy to remove lint AFTER, so i prevent it happening (good tip told to me by a well known WAHM).
white loopy fabrics seem to loose fluff heaps, so i'd do all the pre-washes separately. all the white loopy fabric mcn together. or in a wash with other white nappies from the drypail.
dark colours, esp red seem to attract the most threads entitled HELP!!!!!!! all my washing turned pink!
LimeSlice
if you are after narrow crotch nappies - i can help you there, that's all we use
- dragonflymagik - bit harder to get
- beetlebums - hyena
- swaddlebees (sized NOT osfa) nappies (pockets on sale at weewuns right now)
- swaddlebees fitteds
- very baby (see theweewuns sale)
- nicnaps
- lotus nappies (she's closed right now, but baby beehinds will be selling Lotus night nappies in near future so the grapevine says)
- itti bitti
boo's are the fitted type
d;lish are the aio type
- babyeco nb size (birth to 9kg) it's a sherpa fitted nappy, that was good too
what size (kilos) bub do you need them for?
MAZ - great to hear that AVACADO cream worked on Mat, great bargain too, gotta be in the eritgh place at the right time, SOMETIME!!!
RHYB - i hope your mum gets better soon, that dengue fever sounds pretty rough to go thru.
COWPRINT MCN? - cushie tushie aio, blueberry pockets and covers, swaddlebees aio,
heaps others if you do the rounds - nurturenappies, theweewuns, darlingsdownunder, ozbabytrends, babyblossom, the usual suspects. then there's the wahm shopping malls e.g wahmnaps, wahmania, minicuteture. look up the sites. type in COW in the search box and see wot pops up.
wotbb; kesters kovers aio (made by possum pouches)
i've just run out of panadeine rapid, gotta get thru the night without pain relief - grrr, my fingertip feels like it's on fire - get the stitches out tomorrow morning - dreading that. why won't it heal already? i am so impatient for it to be back to normal. got stuff to do.
Thanks Gigi!! My guru! ;)
Bump is 14 months (almost) and about 10kg i think...really tall and really thin, small bum and hips. she is in med IB d'lish's still.
I have one SB OSFA Pocket, and I really like it, but I would like some more AIO - the sized ones are AIOs arent they?
Going to get some more BGs too and some IBs, would like to get enough that I can use AIOs full time (Dont have to worry too much about drying time in perth though and I have a dryer is necessary) but would like to have a stash large enough to handle air dried full time AIOs.
WOHB: still sposies....so HATE sposies. I miss my cute clothed bum!
ls - swaddlebees have all different ones - they have one size fitteds, sized fitteds, side snap sized pockets, osfm pockets... and probably more!
but the osfm (eco nappy) i would assume would be termed "wide crutch", forgive me if i am wrong! i do love them though, much nicer fit than bum g's (bot as wide in the crutch either).... my bum g's have for now become my reserve nappies. i love everything swaddlebees!
maz - thanks for the heads up on the night covr idea, i think you might be right....
ajp/bg - i really think you are onto something with poor mels prob
wohb - purple bbb/wool bbb cover, which reminds me, is it orth lanolising?
 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ARICYN
Mel I think it's possibly a bad batch of bamboo because it's not just your problem. There was a thread about it on NC not long ago! I've never had any shredding like that and Caleb can be rather toxic sometimes.
Have a nice trip Tan. You'll be hanging to get home to your fluff!
Speaking of fluff I have a few things in transit ATM :D
*yawns* Ruby has slept through for the second night in a row  I'm feeling a bit fuzzy headed this morning though. Anyhoo, I've noticed that she's doing the same as what Caleb did with her morning wees. She doesn't do a lot overnight, her nappy seemed quite dry, but lets loose after her first feed.
Well i think we are almost at the end of our first teeth run. I can see the little bumps that come on the top of the teeth better this morning. So over it already!! Good news though, we have been using dymadon for the last 4 days and no staining :)
Ashton sleeping through night before last was a fluke. He was up 3 times last night. so tired! Lucky I did all my nappies yesterday so today I can do sweet f-all and be lazy.
I am umming and aaahing about whether I keep the nappies I have that are too small for the next bub (which I plan to have in 2011) or sell them off. Wish I had a bigger house, then I wouldn't question keeping them, but in this 2 br flat there isn't much room. That and I already have 4 60ltr containers full of kids clothes!
WOHB - Razzily Rhino custom Mickey Mouse minkee
Thanks Gigi will check it out!
Thanks for th info Gigi :)
I can only go by DS which I know is not necessarily how this bub will be built, for crotch width and that sort of thing. Have some IBs coming in the mail, along with some kissaluvs, but will get some sb's and VB. I love VB, have 2 VBSN in waiting, they're large, lol will be waiting a while but they're too cute
The selling of items in this thread is against BB guidelines and as such it will from hence forth result in an immediate infraction!
who is selling things?
ooohhh rayray kissaluvs are great for nb, i only had one but will buy more for next bub! i have an ecobub wool pocket on order too, but i ordered it before the sale @ obt! :wall:
missymoo, i am in a 2 bed room unit too - how di you manage with 3?????!!!
its all quiet in here after we have been spoken to!
wohb: hhsherpa / pul cover
whats obt?
rayray - ozbabytrends
Kitten - dont know where everyone is today! It sis sooo quiet
Charlotte is walking around with a tea towel over her head waving her hands i the air. pmsl I do not know how she can see where see is going! lol so funny
has anyone used nature's child nappies? they are on sale at beegreen for $20 each
I... am... such... a... twit... (She says whilst repeatedly slapping herself in the head).
OK, so I've discovered the Auriel love in a mightily big way after getting a second hand one on b4b a couple of weeks ago, and I was most delighted to snaffle a new one on the weekend. There are a couple up on b4b at the moment, and even though I do not, I repeat, do not, need any more bloody nappies, I just went and bid waaaay too much on one and won it. My fingers just slipped on the mouse, I swear they did. *gulp* So , but also .
So, as I have you all here as witnesses - I DO NOT need any more nappies. I WILL NOT be buying any more nappies, no matter how beautiful they are, no matter how pattable they make his bum, all the bling in the world can no longer tempt me. I am officially ON THE WAGON...!!!
Oh, and Gigi my love - of course you will be seeing a photo of E in all his piratey glory, but let's just wait until it's on his bum first ;) And I hope that your stitches removal went OK and wasn't horrible.
WOHB: Cute tooshies with Maz Camo cover. Although, it's really, really wet here - half of Cairns is under water. Any more rain and it'll be a swim nappy on E's bum.
oh then Suse - I cant tempt you to view my new range next month  Is it the red hungry caterpillar one that you won...its devine!!! but sadly side snappers cut into chunky hunky to much :(
Kitten - I havent tried them...hmm me off to looksie.......
Suse the auriels are great aren't they! Got Ruby's new one today  Reccon if i put it on her it will come up to her armpits
Oh you just be quiet Maz . Nope, I was very tempted by the red caterpillar one, but have several red nappies already. I got the blue/green marble minky one - I've liked that colour for yonks, and the fact that it was an Auriel just sealed the deal. They fit my skinny boy so beautifully. I think that I could easily get a little obsessive over them if I'm not careful. Oh, that's right, I'm not careful... Doh...
WOHB: BP
ETA: LOL Sam - that would be a cute look, but not very effective on the pootainment front. It's good to have something to grow into.
 Suse and Sammi
I think you need to do that and take apic hahahahahahaha
Kitten I barely do. There is no room to move, lucky I have a nice big backyard for the kids to play in! I am on the transfer list but can't afford private rental atm :( So it's here or in a house I can't afford meaning I would not eat lol
Mel you could eat bling LOL Or charge people to veiw your bling LOL.
Seriously though I don't know how you afford so many new nappies with 3 kiddies.
B4B has been playing up on me today (I am NOT buying nappies, just having a look ;) ). It is soooo slow.
Fi my kids have everything they need ;) It helps have rent of $240 a fortnight. I'll enjoy being able to buy anything I want for a while lol
I wasn't implying that your kids go with out for bling. Sorry if it sounded that way.
Yay!! I got two lots of fluffy mail today.
One was from Maz with my 2 gorgeous covers - a giraffe and a blue and tan spotty one (can't remember the names). Oh but I'm in love. You do a damn fine job, baby! Thank you so much.
The other was from BSL and I got a ruby red magicall minky, a HH pocket and a Bumgenius 3.0. So yay, the fluffy mail has begun. I'm expecting more from Maz maybe tomorrow and so much more, and I've planned a visit to the weewuns to see Janie sometime this week. :D
Oh and the other good news was the DH came home from work and installed (with a trip to Bunnings) the Little Squirt, so yay, we're all set up to go!
WWOHB (what was OHB) a BBH with a Maz cover.
WOHB: sposie - don't have any night nappies yet. YET!
Hello hello my beautiful ladies!!
I have only just really gotten caught up with almost eveything and found the current cloth thread. I havent read too far back though, there have been a few threads since I went on holidays.
I have paid off the LS so hoping the postie is quick. I need to ring DHA for maintenance though coz our letterbox has a couple of centimetres of water in it. Wet bills stick together and can't get paid!! They might have to put a new face on it that has a diverter over the slot.
I need to do some washing but it has been pouring all day and the girls dont particularly like the cat (or is it the other way around?) so I cant go in the laundry while they are up. Em tries to pick her up!! Maybe I can talk DH into putting a load on now Mwahahahaha!!!!
Ness - It was great to catch up with you again!!! MJ has grown heaps!! Sarah loves her trains, we got a wooden Thomas that fits on the tracks too!!
I am cycling my stash!! A friend has bought some of the old prints from me so I am re stocking my stash with current prints.
WOTB I cant remember!! Something cloth!!
Maz - was in Coles this arvo, and checked out the avado nappy lotion.. it was $8.95! So you def got a good bargain! I still bought some though!
Forgot to mention, my DH finally installed his homemade little squirt.. he bought all the parts from Bunnings. We need to get one other thing though, cause currently you need 3 hands to use it! Once he gets some new connection, I'll be able to use it myself
2 lots of fluff waiting for me at the PO .. i sooo hope its myBSL package.. i have only 1 PUL cover for Gabriella ( well i have some whams but they are a bit big) i get a bummis flower print !!!!
nothing well right today .. mum came round for a "quick trip" to see my Oma... that was at 9 am .... i got home at 6pm ... looooooong day .. but i did arrive safe and sound (filled with a lil paraniona as i was overtaking a slow as car ... then i heard there was a radar on that very same road :wall:) with MOO GOO i got the MSM cream .. yay .. its so buttery soft ! i bought the lip balms . one for me one for my sis !! shame the store is over 60ks away .. i did about 180 km in driving today (thank gosh i drive a luxry car!!)*yawn* so am happy to hear there is fluff waiting for me .
WONB - bbh with no cover ... wasnt going to let him pee in a KK only to take it off him before i went to bed
WOGB - sposie ... her KKs are waay to baggy on her
oooh my IBs arrived tonight. DS wanted to open the parcel , and got very excited at the lollies that were packed in with them lol. He was patting the nappies though and said they were nice and soft for the baby :) very cute.
