Hey girls. Gee you chat a lot in here!!
Well I haven't had any nappies shred like that and my gosh I hope it doesn't happen! That is horrible, I would cry :(
I have 2 berry plush here, no longer used because Ash is too fat lol They are so cute, the booster is wonderful and so soft!! I love the look of them but Ashton is just too chubby for them (I have smalls)
As for a cover, yes you should get one that is the next size up from the nappy you are using. Most of my covers are a large now, cos Ashton is in a medium nappy. But then I like to boost my nappies on the outside with a bamboo trifold :)
Ashton slept ALL NIGHT! He is going to be so wet cos I didn't change him before I put him down at 9, Dave did and put the BP on him (which is too small) but I didn't want to change him cos he was excited about putting him in a nappy all on his own, usually I get the nappy and cover out for him lol, I he would have a feed at 12 and I would change him then... well he is STILL asleep and its 7.10!! About to go lay in bed and wait for him to wake. Can't believe he slept ALL night!

WOHB - Probably a sopping wet berry plush!

Shelly I never wash anything individually, it's all in together always.
Michelles machine is broke still until next week... which I think is this week coming lol

well another all night in a bbb here, my good little girl! 4 weeks old and i dont have to get out of bed at night :dance: i got a berry plush in medium, with booster - my plan is to use that over a bbb at night, what do you think?

mel - i looked at your piccy :o that shredding is such a worry, i hope you find out what it is..... could it be the detergent? **insert sarcastic smart ass tone** or maybe its the flouride in the water?? ;)

shells - havent done any seperate washing here, nor have i had any runs, and 95% of my mcns are new, so i wouldnt bother if i were you :)

ls - what did you get at ozbabytrends? eva is really lovely, i like ordering from her

Nelle & Jodi - so nice to know I'm not alone!!!! It's a real PITA mystery isn't it.

Cat - I don't think its the detergent - cos most times I don't use any!!!

WOAB - sopping GK from overnight cos I still haven't changed him

It is a mystery isn't it Mel. I'm the same, a lot of the time I don't even use detergent.

shelley - I've never had fluff come off my bbh, so can't help you there. The only nappy I've had run on me is a pink d'lish, it coloured all the other nappies pink! Luckily after being in the sun for a few days the pink faded and you can't notice them now.

woohoo on getting a full night sleep kitt3n! Good to hear the bbh did the trick.

Mel - have you contacted IB to ask them about it?

Kitten - nothing as yet! lol Just checking things out atm...will have rather a lot of money to spend on fluff in about 2 weeks so am trying to figure out what I want next! lol Looking for things in the unusual, but I need narrow crotch for DD so that in itself seems to rule most things out! lol OBT has BGs on sale atm

Kitten - I dont do PUL overnight....It cook's my kids bums to much :(

ray - BP are generous in the bigger sizing...I had smalls for Mateauz when he was NB and he outgrew them quickly....mediums and larges are the way to go for value for $$$$$

Avado baby naturals Nappy Lotion. Its in a yellow bottle and it is FANTASTIC!!!!! I got it on clearance at coels for 99cents but omg it has cleared Mateauz butt up over night!!!!

anyone have an opinion/experience with ecobubs wool pockets?

Ray - ecobubs are pretty good. think i had one leak, when he slept longer than i thought he would and didn't stuff it with anything other than the microfibre insert. Only thing we don't like - side snapping - not a fan. Oh and the pocket hole goes towards the front of bub - not at back ;)

Alexis - yeah they are going to replace that one, but not my boosters cos its too hard to work out when I got them

If she doesn't, then maybe the wee is not being cleansed out of the nappy properly and so continues to eat and destroy the nappy in the background until one day it all just lets go with the force of the washing machine??

Just a theory....I hope you can figure it out cos it looks just awful. I just checked all mine and they are all looking fine! Phew!

Maz - is that ok to use with MCN's? Or do you still have to use liners?

had it a while now...and yep it has had a fair few washes.....

I use bicarb soda in my wash with the nappies and hot water. I use a front loader and wash on a normal cycle which is around 1hr 20 minutes. When the nappies are finished, I hang them up in the sun & they don't usually smell. I find if there is a smell, I wash them again with a handful of soap nuts and bicarb.... does the trick. I generally do the soap nuts/bicarb thing every few weeks.

I put a little bit of disinfectant in mine..thats it and I havent had any issues with fraying as yet (knock on wood)

ive been using the cream for Mateauz and it hasnt stained or left a coating...fabo stuff

Thanks. Side snaps are what drew me to them originally, I preferedthem asDS was a tummy sleeper, and apparently so was I, and DH too.

Weird that the pocket hole is at the front though..

christy - my MIL uses bicarb in lieu of fabric softener in her machine, I didnt know you could use it instead of detergent though.

Ahhh.. but sometimes I do wash with detergent - depends if I could be ar$ed putting some in ... lol... probably every 2nd or 3rd load, I actually use something.. so I do use it sometimes...

I just do it in a hot wash of 60, goes pre rinse and then wash. It's a front loader if that makes a difference, then sun.

Detergent is only to help remove the poop, it doesn't disinfect or anything, the sun does that. So if the hot water is WASHING the nappies, why use anything else.

I actually stopped because Ashton is allergic and was getting horrible nappy rash. Almost 3 weeks without anything and not a stain or smell yet and the nappy rash has gone :)

mummytummy - I've only recently started to not use detergent, and my ittis started shreading about a month or so ago, so nope, not that. I think it's weird that it's only itti bittis that are doing it.

limeslice - my nappy setting on my washing machine has a rinse cycle before doing a regular (but gentle cycle). I always hang my nappies in the sun as well. And all the soiled nappies are thoroughly rinsed.

Well my mum has dengue fever atm and is in hospital so I have my 14, 11 and 4 year old sister here and 8 year old brother here for the next week or so. Im going mad lol. Its terrible nappy weather here but hopefully Ill get some dry before I run out. Hope everyones well.

to whom ever asked about the fluff on mashin BBH ?? it wont last long mabye 3 washes ..

and try not to wash fleece with natural fibers ... the fleece attrcts it and voila a fleece cover with a lot of crap you have to remove !!

Robyn , is her name from Possum Pouches .. and yep ShellsBells she is super busy atm .. im waiting to put in an order for a soaker , but she has at least 2 full (meaning knitting everyday) weeks worth of knitting soakers and orders .. poor dear .. she is busy :)

Im with Fiona on this one..there was a really bad batch of bamboo doing the rounds about 5-6 months ago and im thinking it be that.

What do you guys prefer with fitteds? over locked edge or sewn in??? I think i need some biggers ones soon

MT - I forgot to mention that I was the same as Jodi too - I was using the detergent and they were shredding so I stopped - and they still are!!! Dunno... maybe its karma wanting to pay me back for being nice so I have to buy new nappies.. hehehehe

so if the nitrogen in urine is used as an accelerator for compost, whats it doing to bamboo/cotton etc.... perhaps it isnt been washed out properly and combined with heat (washing/dryer/sun) its speeding up the 'decomposition' of your nappies :dunno: just a thought!!

But why is it really only happening to my ittis and the rest of my nappies are fine, yet treated the same way? Maybe they have less layers of bamboo?? :dunno:
And mine DON'T go out into the sun that often - but I do rinse mine every night in the shower so hopefully will fix the shredding problem.

i'm wondering whether the batch you're talking about was a slightly inferior bamboo batch, so the breaking down is happening earlier and more rapidly in those particular ones

it wouldn't take much for it to change the composition of the product and for it to start breaking down in a natural manner...

its the suedecloth liner that has shredded right? maybe its just not as resiliant as other fibres

But isn't the underneath part of the suede part bamboo? and its not just on that bit on the sewn in - about 4 of my boosters (trifold snap ins) have done it too....

Our cheeky monkey is due any day now :dance: and I really wanna find (and buy!) a really funky cow hide nappy or cover..... can anyone recommend one and where i can buy one? I've got all plain coloured MCNs and I want a few patterned MCNs now I've decided :lol:
