Can you just sleep him on towel (in the nappy!! lol) until you get a cover? Or if you do have a large pocket nappy you can try using that as a cover maybe...
Anna - you probably got compression leakage through teh BBH and cover in the monring....fleece acts like a barrier but if a nappy is full to the brim its going to compress through.
Rach can you send Gigi my love.....I jsut cant justify driving down in this heat for 3 hours and then drivnig home 3 hours.....im totally exhausted from doing nothing but I wish I could meet her
Going to do for a drive in my disco van as the aircon rocks in it and I have a hanckering for Chinesse
Maz, completely understand. Fortunately she's staying 20 mins from my place so it worked out well. Mmmm Chinese. Sounds good!
ali - get everything out of the backyard, patio etc. Leave NOTHING around, this includes patio table/chairs, the wind is dangerous in a cyclone. Keep doors and windows closed, and don't go near them in the cyclone. If/when the cyclone hits, head for the smallest room in the house (bathroom/toilet) and stay in there. It's the safest room of the house. Make sure you have plenty of water supply, candles, torch & canned food JIC.
nappy news - Emily leaked through a magical today in just over an hour! I wasn't impressed. Nina got a massive rash this week from her magicals which she's in at night. It's so bad we're using sposies on her at night to try and clear it up.
Anna - I have a soaker here you can borrow. It is purple though. Freshly lanolised and clean as a whistle. It is sitting in my nappy bag.
Well my boys are big wetters so that makes sense Maz! Dunno what to do about it though........
Thanks for the offer Ali, will see how I go with an improv pocket nappy cover first but if that doesnt work Id love a loan of the soaker when I see you next, atleast then I know if I like them enough to buy them or not :)
Well if you are concerned about flooding tomorrow, you are welcome at my place. I could do with some company anyway!! I am on higher ground so we should be safe.
Heya girls...need some advice please?
Turns out we have number three on the way after all :) and i've gotten rid of most of my NB/small stuff :wall:
Sooo, what I'm thinking of doing is using sposies for the first 6-8 weeks of the newborn haze, then using my BumGs and other OSFA and smaller fitteds for the new bub.
For DS, I was just going to get him another 6-8 IB d'lish (he already has 6) and figured that should do him (he'll be almost 2 by the time bub arrives), then later when he TTs the bub can use those too...he wears sposies at night because he sleeps better in them than cloth.
Does this sound like a good plan or not??
Hey Willow - what exactly is your EDD? We have all up around 20+ nappies for J and R to share as they are in the same size and if I wash aily or every 2nd day its more than enough so 12 IBs should be right.
Have you thought about one size BBH's? I have a dozen of them for new bub that should last him awhile, could always be an option for you (with some funky covers)?
sounds like a plan indeed Willow! lol
Have you thought about using flats? we used them for the first 6-8 weeks anyway, and I still wish I could be are to fold them now! lol
Congratulations too! I so missed that!
Hiya all! OMG what a read! I have been here for the last hour and a half! My eyes are hanging out my head!
We have just gotten back from a week away in Launceston. Pictures are on my Facebook for those who are my friend. I am happy to say that I used my nappies the whole time! My friends are great, didn't even bat an eyelid when I wanted to wash my poopy nappies in their machines lol I got lots of compliments about his cute bum and lots of interest! Add to that the fact that it was scorching hot the whole time I was up there, he got LOTS of wear out of his bling and itti and beetlebum nappies! YAY!
We even went swimming everyday, and it wasn't until the last day that it hit me I could use my pul cover as a 'swimming nappy' so that's what I did and it worked well. The previous days I just had him in his swimming bottoms lol
OK I know you have all been waiting for it so I have uploaded the pictures of Ashton in his...Cherubs Kiss HOLDEN NAPPY SET! It's also on my FB in the Launceston folder. I don't know where the gallery has gone on here
On the non nappy front, Ashtons father is no longer anything but Ashton's father. He knows it too, after calling me some horrible things over the week, today he saw him for the first time since Friday and lets just say I made it VERY clear that I wasn't happy he was there, I didn't want to be friends with him and he is only here to see Ash and will be leaving when he is sleeping. And when he fell asleep I stated "He will sleep for a while so you should go, see you next weekend" and he left. Didn't look too happy, sort of sad but what can you do? It's about time I put myself first because a happy mummy is a happy baby and I have 3 of those to think about! Now for the personals...
Willow I just used flats. MCN are really no harder to use then disposables I promise!! I was so worried having a 3 and 4 year old and a baby and doing it all on my own with cloth thrown in there too but I did it!! It's just something you get into a rhythm with! Every night I would throw all the days nappies in the wash and turn it on then go to bed, in the morning when I was up and dressed I would quickly go throw them on the line or in the dryer :) Actually thinking about it the putting them together was a very therapeutic thing for me lol
Gigi I am glad that you have worked your flights out and I hope your enjoying your holiday away. Sounded like it was well deserved!
BG I am sooooo glad your house was ok! How damn scary!! I would have been wetting my panties! Idiots that light fires!
Ali I didn't bother with liners for the NB poo : ) The tar poo that we are all so scared of when we are nappying NB's is no different to any other poop!! Ashton did his first tar poop in his itti and it did not stain : )
Chez I used a BBH pul cover with a peapod trifold. It was my makeshift swimming nappy the last week while I was away.
Euginea I use CT and Ashton is almost out of the rise. Having said that he is the size of most 9 month olds lol
mum_2_squidgee I have a WAHMies wet bag too : ) Mine is the one with the change mat attached. It is soooo small! I can barely fir 2 nappies in it :( I do have a sock monkey one which has 2 pockets, each fits between 3-6 nappies. I love it. Brought it off a girl on another site and it's in the wash so not sure what brand it is but I highly recommend it! I will have to find out : )
Anna I chuck all the nappies in together : ) They go in the washing machine together so I don't bother putting them in different bags. As for the Sandman they are a fitted nappy so need a cover hun. With night nappies, because they are so big usually, I have found woolies the BEST! Shorties, longies, capris or soakers, whatever but they work the best here : )
NaNa OMG! Wouldn't have wanted to be you for that clean up!!
teruteru you could hire someone to kill him? hehe sorry I don't know that there is a way to not hate someone who is purely hate-able.
Beatrix what a great idea about the shell of a BG :) I used a pul cover and bamboo trifold, then a pul cover and the booster from a Bizy Bee and both worked well :)
charmalea I don't see why you can't share nappies :) They are washed and clean and I have brought many second hand nappies.
rhyb OMG I hope your ok!! Double whammy for the illnesses :(
WOHB - BBB and woolies
ETA: on the nappy counting topic... I have 144 with 4 more WC bling on the way ...
Missymoo - OMGoodness!!! Are you serious - I thought I had a lot at 50+
Willow - congrats on no. 3! Sounds like a plan to me! We did similar with DD Have checked the most recent cyclone track and going to bed in case I'm up taping windows in a few hours :-)
PS - There must be something in the air all my animals have gone NUTS!!!!!
willow- congrats
mel- i'd love to hire a hitman but then again...how the heck do u store so many nappies?! im struggling and i only have 30 something!
my main problem thou is that i dont have a fixed changing spot, so im thinking of getting a wheelie thing. Does that sound do-able or can u suggest me something else?
Sarah - There IS something in the air!!! A cyclone!!! My cat is super sooky. I will put her in her carry box when I get up in the morning coz she spooks easily and is a real PITA to find sometimes!!
Must make sure everything is ready, all the windows I can reach are taped. The ones with benches in the way are facing south so they should be ok, and the bathroom and toilet blinds are all bolted shut, they have venetians with brackets holding them down. I have a full tank of fuel in my car and a little bit in the daewoo if I absolutely need it, and the patio is clear. The swing set is pretty darn stable (DH has tried pulling it before and it didn't move) and I cant really unbolt it when it is taller than DH. I have every bottle in the house full of water, and the bath tub is full too. Just have to bring the torches and first aid kit and water bottles into the dining room, coz that is the most central place in the house, and the nearest window is about 5 metres away.
I should have done the washing. Ah well, I have some sposies in the drawer if I need them. (see it is nappy related :p)
Rhoda - Get a changing pad that you can easily move, or change him straight on the floor. Have a central place that nappies are kept, and when you change, put a fresh nappy in your moving change station.
Wow - you're organised Ali! Estimated landfall is somewhere between Innisfail and Ingham now, so T'ville may not bear the brunt of it - you guys should hopefully be OK. DP's dad is just outside of Innisfail and has been battening down the hatches today - they got through Larry OK with very little damage (even though the houses on either side were flattened), but the full shipping container they have on the property shifted by about a foot or two. That was a category 5 though.
It's been pretty blowy up here - but nowhere near what you T'villians would be experiencing. Will be thinking of you guys tonight. What with fires and floods, if it's not one thing it's another.
Rhyb - I only just got your text late this afternoon - hope you're OK hon? Let me know if I can help with anything, OK?
Hi everyone else - haven't read through the whole gazillion pages, slacker that I am - so have no idea what you are all up too except that Gigi's in Melbourne!
WOHB: Sumfing? I should know, really I should. It's a night nappy, anyhoo.
ali- sounds like ur organised if anything happens. i do change him anywhere, im jst struggling to find a storage system that will work. at the moment there's a few nappies in this room & a few in that, seems a bit messy. im thinking of storing all of them in a storage box on wheels, u reckon that will work?
eta- our main prob is that it's not our hse (we share with BIL & soon SIL) so cant put things where i want. sometimes my things get moved without notice
I wouldnt be wanting to cart a big box on wheels around if I was you Rhoda. Do you have a LS? if you do then maybe make your central point near the toilet that has the LS.
ETA: Suse - I am on the BOM site and it looks like it will go back out after it crosses land, and I have been told that if it does that it can build in intensity. It looks like it will come in at Cardwell and go out again at Ingham, which mans it could come back in over Townsville if it regains intensity.
144 :o i had to read that twice !!
Alioops - its ok hun , i was just wondering , and what were you doing up at 1 am ??
well i have a bionic bum here , pooed in each of her GK and it was the most awful smell ever not like a sweet BF poo at all .. i wonder why .. it was rank !!! hope shes not getting sick .
Anna- what about a gnst heavy wetter ? they hold a fair bit if he is wweing through most things .. DS is 2.5 and needs a BBB boodsted a fair bit on the oustside . a KK only justs holds up for him .. depending how long he sleeps and if his morning wee is done in the nappy or not ...
Willow honey - congratulations...im so happy for you...I wish I still had some of the NB's here but I passed them on....I'll see what I can do though babe
another warm one here...tell ya the truth im over it!
Had to get a new blade for my overlocker..the old one was shreading my material so ive had to recut out the elephant cover for Mateauz :( jed has now informed me he wants a motorbike / harley cover for Mateauz now...god and he's the first to whinge about me sewing so much :roll eye:
be back soon....have to let my pussy out
Willow - you can borrow all my newborn stuff if you like (just have to wait till my other BB girls have finished with them!).. its easy for me to send it down to you - after all, they are only in them for a short while - and its not like I'll be needing them again before you!!!! ;)
wardygirl - I sent Gigi a text but if she's not got her phone on, then I guess she's not gunna reply!! Please let her know that we would LOVE to come meet up but it's an hour and 45 minutes each way on public transport... :( I just can't do that today.
My place is being invaded by ants. If I turn my back for a second, my house is covered in critters again so I have my hands full trying to keep DS from being carried away by the swarming hordes! The heat made them go crazy and they're EVERYWHERE! *shudder* I hate ants!
Maybe I should flood the kitchen again and wash them away?
um, nappy related, I got nuffin. Just "144... holy cow!"
WOHB: BP minky works well to polish lino, I've discovered.
I store them all on my old computer table. Follow the link to my blog (My Ramblings) then to go the post about cleaning, I can't remember what it's called. There is a pic there of where I store them, it was a couple of months ago now so I have added a 'few' more nappies since then lol
ETA actually it's called 'self imposed buying ban'... stupid title cos I broke it lol
Brilliant idea! Baby Minkee Mop!!!
Mel/Willow - about Mel's last post - can cut out the postage of sending back to you if Willow wants? PM me.........
Missymoo - You are the divine nappy collector! Maybe I should count mine, all sizes, and see what figure I come up with.............. Did you get your bling from the store, or did you special order? I might special order if you can!
Ali - I hope you guys are safe and that your house has been spared
Willow - Using mcn is just as easy if you do want to do it, it truly is........ nice to get a bit of fresh air when hanging them out to dry too :)
maz - ha most hubbies are complaingin about how many covers/mcn we have and yours wants MORE! I think that deserves a kiss!!
As for me, I have to draft my letter to the strata this week to ask for special permission for my nappy washing line. Serioulsy though, you cant see it from the street! Dont know what mrs mangle is on about (stoooopid old cow!)
WOHB: spunkybutts (small and is just fitting)/bb PUL cover
Ooh thats an idea - you both in Sydney? Thats if you want them Willow? Then I can just send the other half down to you when I get them back from Jodie.
What else was I going to say? Ahhh yeah, something is going to be revealed today... just waiting for one person to get back to me - then its all systems go!!!
Hmm... all this talk about nappies - perhaps I should count mine....
I'm ashamed that its nowhere near 144 though.... LOL....
WOAB: Widdlewuns (that he thinks needs changing, hence the white BumG next to him on his thomas couch. I disagree, considering I only put him in it about an hour ago...)
WOMB: IB.. sleeping... THANK GOD.. after 15 minutes of screaming loudly in mummy's arms... misread sleepy signs!
Yay no leaks this morning but woof could I smell the pee when they wandered out of their rooms, why oh why do mine have to pee like fountains overnight lol
So our cyclone fizzled but the winds were enough to wake me a few times, not happy jan. I dont sleep enough as it is. But hopefully it means sunshine is on its way cause I am soooooooo sick of drying nappies for days or in the drier.
I got my bling from the store. I have 4 coming, 2 were from the store and 2 were special orders :)
I just washed my nappies and it rains!! ARGH!
Has anyone ever bought anything from little koala and could say how they found the experience?
I brought my prefolds from there, aside from the slow postage I found the service good and the product good and the price good :)
afternoon ladies....
i have to do a strip wash on a certain amount of nappies...Jacks wee is STINKY has to be from teething....washed them and they are dry BUT now when he has wee'd in them they smell horrid....no UTI....only thing i can put it down to is teething...
No moogoo arrived today No fluff arrived :(
WOJB ~ spunkybutts terry fitted / maz blue minky cover
Hi Ladies,
Newbie to MCN here. Just wanted to say a big thankyou to you all for your posts. I saw an advert for baby beehinds and peapods in a magazine and decided to do some research. I found this site after looking for some discussion on which would be better and found a whole new world I never knew existed. After reading through posts for many many hours, I talked to my DH about it (he will be part-time SAHD!) and he agreed to let me buy cloth. I've now bought a few nappies to trial & see which ones bubs likes - not enough for full time but a start. Now all I need is the baby to try them on! (Due 24/1 so any minute now!) Thanks for all your advice.
Welcome KerrieM :D
LOTS of very knowledgable nappy people here that are also very friendly...any questions ask away....
welcome kerrie, im sure u'll get sucked into the world of cloth like us LOL i found out heaps frm these girls here :)
congrats on the pg, do u know the sex or is it a surprise??
kat- im getting stinky nappies too, tryin to wash everyday if i get a chance
i didn't wash over the weekend (well missed one day!!) but lately i have noticed stinky nappies...since the drool and little weeny tooth popping through a tad... but other than that i do wash every day...
We've got stinky wee nappies here too, I wash everyday and Ripley is teething (3 teeth at once ugh) so Im guess thats what it is! I had him in a sposie quickly yesterday and he STILL stunk it out.
Welcome Kerrie - both to this thread and to BB. Whereabouts on the Sunshine Coast are you? If you wanted to check out some nappies - you are more than welcome to come to my house - I have a few - just a few - in my stash ;)
I'm on the sunny coast too.
