I text Ange last night and they got out (thank god) I hope that their house is alright....they live right smack bang in the middle of a pine plantation :o
Sammi - are the fires near you hon?
I took the nappies of the line before and they stink of smoke....the sky here is smoggy and a funny orange colour and the stench! blah!!! Im go glad for the cool change....48 on my front porch yesterday
We're changing nappies more and more in the last few days....keeping fluids up = more wet nappies but I dont care....
Keep safe everyone
just read on another thread that Ange is in yea atm. their house did catch on fire but the cfa managed to save it. unfortunately they lost 2 of their gorgeous dogs.
so glad to hear they are safe
Hope everyone else is ok with these horrible fires
hi all,
i'm sorta back, the fires & concern to ange led me back here.
Maz - its frightening isn't it. Stinky nappies, least its better than hemp stinky, smoke stinky is almost cleansing :)
WoHB - BBB with maz cover
QLDer's send some of your water down here girls!!!!! We have got so many extreme's atm havent we :( jsut hope everyone is staying safe
Kaz good to see you back good looking
Just want to draw your attentions to MPM https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...y-go-live.html ;) all done
If I could send our flooding and rain down that way Maz I gladly would!
Hope everyone is staying safe!
No cloth related tid bits from me, the boys are in sposies as I am struggling to get anything dry *sigh*
we need a big pipe line from you guys to the river system that will bring it down Anna...instead of the pile line that is ploughing through all the forest ect here in Vic
just had a power black out....dame it..lost a heap of work!
Anna - Do you have a dryer? Come spend a few hours here and borrow mine :p I am going nuts with little to no adult contact!!
Maz hun, I would in a heartbeat if I could. Send some trucks up here to collect some of the floodwaters and we will all be happy!! You can only get in and out of Townsville by air and water at the moment. They did fix some of the potholes to get to my place the other day though!! But Sheesh I am glad my car has good clearance!!
Ange  So glad your house is still standing. I hope the repairs don't take too long, and RIP to your precious fur babies :crying:
I should wash some nappies.
WOEB: Purple Mommy's Touch pocket with Peapod booster.
WOSB: Baby blue CT.
Yep we have a dryer but Im terrified of putting the nappies in it for long JIC they get ruined, so Im trying to air dry for awhile then take the last bit of dampness out in the dryer.
That pipeline sounds like a great idea Maz. Wonder if they could ship down big containers of water from here.........you'd think in this day and age they'd be able to figure something out.
 Ange! So glad to hear that you are safe!! And well done for the CFA for saving the house! I am so sorry for the loss of your puppies. Hope you can go home soon
Finally my baby is back in his proper nappies!
I'm ok, it's my poor DD who is in hospital. She had another seizure early sat morning which turned into a prolonged one so she was in intensive care yesterday. She is doing much better now so she got released out to the ward this morning and hopefully she'll get to come home tomorrow. So it's been sposies all around.
 Eugenia... I hope Sophia recovers quickly honey
More  for Ange too
 Eugenia. Hope everything is Ok.
Will be sending a heap of PMs soon, just waiting for some info.
Eugenia I hope your DD pulls up ok.
QM I just use facewashers for wipes. I have a huggies wipes container, the big ones and it's full of wet facewashers folded in half. I hope you work something out soon, it's horrible isn't it! I just hot wash all my nappies now.
No nappy news here really. Except I took Ashton to the park for Jaidans party today in his new holden set and he pooped lol DOH! Oh well, Bec got to see it hehe
Hope all you vic ladies are staying safe, and all the ladies in the flooded area are staying safe too. How devistating :(
WOHB: Mirabai
Ummm....
I just did a nappy count.....
Ummmm....
I don't think I'll be posting my count in here... (but its STILL not as much as missymoo's!!) lol
If you want to help out.....we are setting up a nappy drive on nappycino to help out those who use cloth nappies who have lost everything..we know of a few people in need already. If you wish to donate you know where to go!!
Gogo Mel hun, DH has said that when miss L arrives I can spend up to another $1000 and then I am on a permanent nappy buying ban. I will guess around 120 :p
Melbel - We also have something in the pipelines on here ;)
I have looked on the CFA website and there is a fire in Wodonga. I sent DH a text to see if they are getting involved and whether it is affecting the barracks. He sent back saying that the network is too congested to talk, so I dont know if he has been evacuated from the base or is helping with the clearing or anything. I would think that if they can they would be getting the guys they are training in city rebuilding to help though, otherwise you have a group of guys learning to do what needs to be done, but not doing it in the field. I know practical experience would help me!!
Not much going on here. Kids in bed and have daycare tomorrow so everything will get done while I can do it without interruption.
:grouphug: Falguni.
I'm feeling very icky tonight, I'm near the fires of Kinglake and Whittlesea, and know far too many people who are affected. My town was never under threat, but we are hosting one of the refuge centres. I just feel so sick and on the verge of tears. Please stay safe everyone.
Thanks Melbel and Alioops, I was just watching the news report and had the same thought of the cloth users, and there will be alot around the Kinglake/St Andrews area. It is just that kind of place.
I am so relieved to hear Falguni and Lu are ok.
found this post from Falguni on the fire thread
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ml#post1648441
i heard something about Narre Warren South on the news recently, so hope KIMBAZ of belly belly is ok too.
what about RAVEN? is it safe where she is?
dh comes from Bendigo, he cannot believe the fires got to 2km of city centre, adn 14 homes lost - all cuased by arsonists!!!
i heard 80+ fatalies, 750 homes gone, in this awful fire (i'm not sure if that is Vic and NSW fires combined, or only VIC). and fires still going in NSW.
I agree MummyTummy, it's very sobering to hear all this. I'm sure if you're helping fire victims, to see them, hear their stories first hand, i'm sure it would really shake you up, make you thing about the "what ifs", and make you go home and hug your own family just a little bit tighter tonight.
I hope our Cairns and Townsville girls have enough tinned food, water and will get perishable stuff back in the shops soon.
EUGENIA - sorry to hear Sophia is unwell. Does S have epilepsy? or was that the first seizure activity she's experienced? Sounds like scary stuff, being the mummy who's trying to stay brave, and wait for the medical people to tell you what is what. My thoughts are with you hon.
i wonder what people who are caught up in floods and fires, do about their baby's nappies. i'd imagine power and water mgiht get cut out, so no using washing machine. Might not be able to drive to shops, so to go buy sposies would be out. I wonder what they would do.
East coasters - you often get the weather we have just had.
so i have some good news for you
after our fortnight of heatwave, today it was a beautiful pleasant 25 degrees - and will be like that until next saturday (37 expected).
so i'm hoping you get our cool change coming YOUR way real soon
I'm sitting down stuffing, snapping and folding a huge basketful of nappies so that there is no excuse for DS not wearing his proper nappies today. I hate to say it but MIL is better at cloth than my mum is and she'll be looking after him most of today while I'm at the hospital. Hopefully DD will get to come home today.
THanks everyone for your thoughts.
Gigi, she does have epilepsy but this seizure was very long and they couldn't get her out of it so they had to sedate her and send her to ICU. This happened at 4am and because I couldn't leave DS I had to send DH in the ambulance with her. Honestly I think sitting at home waiting for news is worse than being out there and seeing a hug team of doctors and nurses all trying to help her, which is both scary and comforting all at the same time.
It seems this was a bad weekend all around with fires and floods affecting a lot of people around here. I hadn't realised just how bad the fire was until last night that I managed to sit down in front of the TV and computer for the first time since sat morning. I'll be off to NC to see about the nappy drive.
 Eugenia - I hope she is out of the hospital soon for you xxx
I've been through my stash and got a few to donate - so I'll be off to NC as well. Although I can't remember my darn password for the site. arggh. hate baby brain!!!
catch up time .
I really am praying hard for the fire and flood victims . its so scary and i wouldnt with this on anyone.stupid arsonists.
do you think care packs for the flood victims would include nappies ? and the fire/flood refuge centres would supply them i would hope . but washing and drying i think would have to be on the back burner . :(
Sonia - I hope Sohpia is OK .. how is she now ?? poor little love . xx
on the cloth frontwe had a great week away in cloth , DS only had 1 poo accident (he still doesnt do poos on the loo) and was dry the whole time !! except when we got back he was asleep in the car and DH moved him into bed , but he woke while we were downstairs unpacking .. he was disorientated and couldnt find the loo ... DH got to him just a he piddled on the floor ! but i am soo proud of him , his TT is amazing me :)
any one know or have this same problem ? : My Wild Child leaks alot .. it said not to put the shell in the dryer. but i had it on DD 1st and she wet through and then about 2 weeks ago i had it on DS and he weed and pooped in it and it was soaking through ! do you think putting the shell of it in the dryer will help the PUL ??? its no point usuing it if i get leaks all the time :(
congrats on your announcemt Arimeh !!
Eugenia honey - I hope that DD is alright soon...it must be so scarey for you guys
Lea - its one extreme to the next at the moment isnt it...I doubt that sending nappies up to the floods would help cause of not being able to dry them :(
oh AND YES I have the same problems with WC nappies..the fitted are excellent but AIO's leak all the time on us :(
Ali - Wodonga isnt that far from me.....hope DH is alright
Going to take some stuff to donate now. rang a head and they said they were in desperate need of pj's for kids....well if you know me im a pj junky so my kids now only have 5 pairs each instead of 15
I have some medium peapods (3) that I could donate, cause I dont use them/like them but I doubt anything would get down there anytime soon via post would it?
Apparently Townsville has run out of milk :o Dont like the idea of telling my 2yo that.
Out of milk Anna?!?! Thats just scary... you guys should come here and camp out - we have heaps of milk - its oats milk though.. lol
Hi everyone!
Well, apart from feeling like I am one lime away from scurvy, we're doing good up here. Fresh food is a little hard to come by, well, we're a bit short of almost everything, the supermarket shelves are almost literally empty - I went yesterday and there was no pasta, rice, toilet paper, dairy, frozen or fresh vegies. There was a little meat, but not much. But compared to many, we're doing fine. We're not underwater and we're not on fire, we have power and water, and we have our houses and our health. So all is good. Jodi, Rhyb - how are you guys faring?
Ange - hon, you know I am (along with many others) thinking of you babe - if I can help, just give me a yell, OK?
Eugenia - I'm so sorry to hear of your DD - I hope she is OK soon. Must be terrifying to see your little one go through a seizure, especially one of that magnitude.
Sorry, I haven't checked more than a page back and I haven't been keeping up for ages, I haven't been online much lately. But I do have a couple of isshews that maybe you lovely lot can help me with...
The first is that even after a strip wash Euan is getting rashy when I have him in cloth.
It only seems to be certain nappies, but not of the same type of inner - eg: one Berry Plush rashes (but not the other), my BumGs rash but not the Itti, GKs or Beetlebums, my velour innered Bubblebubs but not the Auriel. Sometimes he's OK with a natural inner, but not others. He seems to be fine with Cute Tooshies. The only common thread seems to be that my older nappies are causing more problems. Which is why I thought that the strip wash would help. (I did the detergent one, not the bicarb and vinegar one). But nope, doesn't seem to have helped at all.
The humidity probably isn't helping, so I'm wondering whether it could be fungal? Would a hot wash followed by a Canesten rinse help d'you think? Or perhaps the strip wash didn't 'strip' enough? He clears up quickly in sposies, but as soon as he's back in cloth, it flares up again, and only clears again if I put him in a sposie. Any ideas?
The other problem is that I'm finding that on the nights that we've had E in sposies, he's slept brilliantly without stirring (last night he slept from 11:00 till 7:00, eight hours is pretty good for him). Put him back in cloth, he wakes several times. He never totally wets through his night nappies and they are microfleece lined, so I don't know that it's a wetness thing. He also moves quite freely in them - I can't think of a reason why he would feel the difference. I think a few others have experienced this (Willow, I know you mentioned it recently), and it also seems to be around the same age. Is it just a phase? Do they eventually go back to cloth and sleep happily? He is such a bad sleeper that we are willing to try anything that helps him sleep better. He sleeps fine in cloth during the day though.
WOHB: BumG after a super stealth mid-feed change from a sopping wet Berry Plush as he fell asleep on the boob.
hello everyone
for all the ladies affected by the fires and floods, if there is anything that can help - gosh i really dont know what, but if there is please let me know.
suse - i am such a newbie, but I have found that if I put little laaaa in a flecce lined nappy se starts to get a rash, so I have been using raw silk liners and there isnt a problem. I am so happy with the raw silk that I have asked DH to go and get some from lincraft - when I find out how much it is per metre would you like some? might be easier for us to grab it and post it up rather than you go out to get it?
eug- i hope the hospital has good news, it must be so horrible to watch your little gorl go through that
anna - can you give them powdered milk? has that run out too? how horrible for you all
speaking of the floods, would a number with this beginning be affected 07 5519? its the first few digits of the bu4baby auction that i won but i cant get in contact with the seller, i hope she hasnt been affected too?
i tried the medum ib's and magikalls on matisse - and they fit, not even crossing over the tabs! my not so little laaaa is growing toooo quickly! even the m/l WC fits her nicely (well a bit big in the crutch but the waist and legs are great)
WOHB - spunkybutts/maz cover
whats a strip wash and how does one "do" one?
Aren't you a sweetheart! Thank you for the offer! I do have a bunch of the raw silk liners though - unfortunately they don't seem to help E much.
The weird thing is, fleece or synthetics in general don't cause any problems - some of my fleece nappies are fine, others aren't. I also use fleece liners without any problem - although I did replace my old liners, which had a lot of barrier cream build-up, and found that the problem greatly reduced, which makes me suspect that it's a build-up or fungal problem. Although I'm not sure what else I can do except strip wash again! ETA - I just reread what I originally posted, and should clarify - he can be in a few cloth nappies without getting rashy, but once he gets that way (usually as soon as he has a poo), it will not clear unless I put him in sposies. So I don't think that it's all of my nappies that are causing the problem, just some.
Anna - Answer your phone!!! I can help!! If J will drink UHT lactose free, you can have a couple of liters. I have 5 cartons in my fridge and we dont go through it that fast.
Ray - Teeniest Tiniest drop of dishwashing detergent in a 40 - 60 degree wash and rinse rinse rinse until there are no little suds.
Sorry Ali Im being held captive by jungle animals atm ;) I got your voicemail though, thanks for the offer but we have a little store of UHT milk in the cupboard JIC. Im just rationing him out atm but Ryan said apparently trucks are getting through with groceries today or some such thing.
Oh good!! I need toilet paper!! Might ring woolies later and see if it has arrived before I pick the girls up.
Big WOOHOO!! My letterbox is fixed!!! Now my fluff wont get soaked through (or my bills ) I am waithing for a rego sticker and a Lunette though. I hope no other bills come with them.
kitten - the rawsilk you buy by the metre at lincraft and spotlight - is for making dresses out of.
it is very different from the raw silk you use for nappy liners. totally different in appearance and how it's treated (chemically). has gone thru many more procedures, so it wouldn't help your baby's bottom at all.
so please don't buy the lincraft.spotlight raw silk, it won't do what you want it to do.
i've seen the type you DO want, sold online at nappiescovered
i thought the same thing initially, and went looking at spotlight. i had one of my bought raw silk nappy liners with me, and could see it was VERY different material. then i asked online and either Nappycino or ozclothnappies people told me the scientific/technical reason why they're different - which of course my memory didn't hold so i can't tell you cos i forget!
hth
Suse - yep, we've found the same thing with cloth at night and so for now, we are permanently in sposies overnight :( I think I remember FJ saying something similar about Isla a while ago too?? Not ideal but he just becomes so unsettled overnight if he's in cloth, it's not worth it. I'd prefer we both got a full nights sleep. Not sure what it is either :dunno: He doesn't wet totally through but is pretty wet by 7am so maybe he just finds it uncomfortable? And I must admit, I was struggling with the smell in the mornings, it was gagworthy!
not much happening here nappy wise....
I finally got DH to change a nappy!!!!! he chose an IB came running out to me showing me Jack asking if it was on ok....hehehehe was very loose so told him it needed to be tighter..which he went and redid...PERFECT!!!!
Just spoke to DH, they were on standby to help out yesterday, and slight chance of being called in to rebuild but at this stage it looks like they are just getting on with study. He owes his Seargent a drink for saying Sir instead of Sarge though, anyone higher than sarge and he would have been right but  He got evacuated from the gym because of the smoke yesterday but everything was fine at the barracks.
Back soon, need to make 'Dottle' and change a stinker for bed.
Weeeeeee I got bling mail today! Dh was muy impressed. Now have to wait for River to claw his way out and get big enough to wear it
lol Kat. Dave loves changing them... but me, well I like to change them because I get to choose lol but when I let him change without my imput he usually pics an itti followed by a WC :)
Maz that sucks about the leaking WC! Is he weeing too much for the booster? Maybe putting a trifold in there instead of the booster it comes with would help?? We haven't had any leaks yet :)
a very helpful Centrelink staff member suggested "transitional hostel" accomodation, to stay in inbetween leaving dh and finding somewhere to live.
my first thought was "will i be able to keep bilby in mcn if we lived in a hostel for god knows how long?".
has anyone done anything like this?
what was it like?
and all i had rung up about was a number for childcare! what a helpful person.
she told me also, we miss out on the latest KRudd Stimulus bonus, cos it's based on the 07/08 tax return, and as dh hasn't lodged that, we won't get the bonus. thanks dh.
it's nearly March, so i will get hit with repaying the 07/08 of FAO money back, becos dh has not filed his 07/08 tax return.
(i let dh know of these two things tonight, he just kept on cooking sausages - that was the response).
this is part of the reason i need to go, can't take the ongoing stress about stupid tax returns.
i can't stop myself listening to the nonstop coverage of the Kingslake, Marysville, Flowerdale, etc tragedies. those poor people.
Isn't Falguni in Yea? SOmetimes Yea is shown in the news stories. Did Falguni's house get saved?
Gigi, read this thread hun https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...5-falguni.html
I think I may have seen her place on the telly when they were flying over Kinglake. There were only a couple of houses standing.
