Cloth Nappies #173.

Was thinking about doing my own pattern, so they fit most of my undies and so they sit the way I need them too (most don't quite sit in the right spot for me) so am going to butcher some scrap fabric I have around here and then make a template from what works best. Will start with PP pads and then do some normal pads. I think they may end up being a little bit like a layin booster with PUL on the back :rofl:

I do have a quilt here with a broken snap too, so I am pretty sure it will get used for that.

I did get fluffy mail today!!! My ecobubs! Yay! Super fast post as usual but came with the regular postie not my parcel man who comes in the morning. I haven;t had a chance to have a good look at them cause I've been hiding them from DH!

Hi ladies, lots of fluffy mail arriving here also - had my girl in cloth for the first time yesterday and today and am loving it.

I'm thinking of getting 6 more ib's and then some night nappies and then that will be it for a while.

So i'm after some recommendations. I'm thinking of going with the MandyMac purple nights for night (obviously) - how do these rate? also what is a good cover for them? Would a fleece one be ok for overnight? i think a PUL one would get abit sweaty overnight but also don't really want to get into wool and lanolising so what's the alternative? thanks for any advice.

plonkee - So glad you had your first clothie day!! YAY!! Awesome to hear of lots of fluff arriving too lol always a good sign :)

if you don't want to get into wool and don't want to use PUL overnights, then fleece is certainly the option.
Quite often I don't use covers at all for Charlotte...it is a matter of seeing if it is worth it - ie if she wets through the nappies or not. Charlotte VERY rarely will wet through a nappy, and doesn't poo overnight unless teething, so no need for a cover. We use longies in winter as pj pants. I also use fleece pj pants and they work perfectly fine.
Have a look at getting some flongies (like longies but fleece) Im sure the girls can tell you where to get some great flongies. So they will be a cover and pj pants all in one :) Save a hassle.

I personally love my Sandmans from sustainable hemp products. They are ace, gorgeous and bamboo :) Never used a MM nights though so not sure about those.

my boy went to sleep last night in his sugarshot...it held it for master wee-wee boy....i didn't change him..because i was NOT waking him....he slept from 7-5.15am :D

Ali - I'm not happy about AF being absent, I WANT it and NEED it to fall pregnant. It magically disappeared 5 months ago and won't return. Thank-you for the offer for some mama pads, I'll take you up on it once I need them and you've got them worked out!

I wish second hand (but in good condition) IB's were easier to find. I can't believe the price some people want for them it's ridiculous.

does anyone with bubs that walk find that they walk funny when wearing the magicall? maybe cause its quite bulky? especially seeing she wears IB most of the time and they are so trim

the girls custom bizy bee flongies have arrived and OHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! they are so gorgeous! DH said "you should have gotten a pair for yourself too!" rofl

I need more liners, is there some sort of dodgy job I can do for some ie material from spotlight and cutting it up into liners? Would that work cause I dont know how to sew so cutting it into rectangles is about as far as I can go :rofl:

get some micro fleece babe and cut it into strips about 10cm by 30cm..(like the ones i sent you) you dont need to sew them at all.

STILL havent decided what to increase Rivers stash with - I was going to get some more BBH but then I thought maybe AIO's would be better..............but he's inbetween a sm & med size atm so whatever I buy will either be too small in a week or two; or too big for awhile *sigh* I have plenty of larges for months down the track (I am optimistic Jett will be TTing by then :lol: ) so its really only for between now and then. I hate my kids getting chubby so quick, makes this awfully hard trying to work out sizings.

FIL has arrived and I have no idea what DH needs done, so I sent him to the chemist for meds and we will wait and see what DH needs when he gets home.

I am just one of these people that needs some to not ask what they can do, just get in and do it. I doubt the nappies are dry enough yet and I don't want FIL to put them together, coz I am fussy!!

Well I didnt win the TL, not too worried about that. Have transferred the $$ for the IBLE, and it had better have good boosters, but if not then I can make my own now :D I hope Em doesnt get Plumbers Crack in it though, some babies just don't suit low rise ;) Oh well, if it is a no go for us then I can pass it on.

With DH packing the daycare bags, I worry every time I put the nappies together about the IF sparkles, and I check each sparkle throughly. When I was packing the daycare bags they would get nappies I wasn't so worried about. Does anyone else get worried about any blingy bits falling off at daycare?

I send the boys with my old bumGs and haute pockets, no way would I send bling or sparkle nappies to kindy :lol:

I am getting a Baltic Amber set!!! And supporting a MPM to do it!!! I hope she makes them a regular range!! I wanted to wait before getting one to see if I could support an MPM with it. And I am not going to use money from the bank account, I love paypal!! DH has his own paypal and doesnt see what I have in paypal :D But he has his own Bank account for cheques and things. He has to put me on that too, considering I cant travel to our SA bank to lodge cheques :D I am a good girl though, when he is home he hears about all purchases and if I say I paypaled it and he cant see it on the bank statement then it is all good!!

Ryan is pretty switched on to the MCNs although his mum put my Iish sparkle through the wash normally and lost one of the sparkles off it *wails* Even though Id said not to wash the nappies because they dont wash like normal clothes/Id prefer to do it myself. I packed the boys kindy bags but if I told him "send anything but the Itti's or Iishfly" he's know what I was talking about.

What are GF's? I wouldn't mind getting Elly a good night nappy as mostly she's fine but then (like today) she woke up wet through the whole AIO nappy including the PUL (also had a bamboo booster in it) and pooped in it, which due to the fullness of the material with wee also managed to ooze out onto her onesy.

Seems like Mandy Mac and Sandman are spoken about the most . . are they brands in themselves?? What's all you old pro's favourite night nappy?

my hubby is still slowly learning the MCN's...he won't change nappies (well....wet nappies he will if he has too) but he does know what nappies are what....

Sas, GFs are Genesa Forge nappies. For night nappies we have 2 Sandmans, a Snoozywun and a Lucious Lullabies. So far my Ds1 is happy in his Lullabies (could have something to do with the glow-in-the-dark snaps ;) ) and Snoozywuns, Ds2 is happy in the Sandmans. I think they are all great but the boosting is awesome in the Lucious Lullabies - never had a leak yet and both kids are heavy wetters.

i've got a stupid question about CT's? (I have no idea about fabrics).. what type of material are the insides made out of? also what are IB's made out of?

Every time DD seems to wear her CT, she gets a red bum... could she be sensitive to the material?

I think I definitely need one of these GF nappies... picking all the options is too confusing for me though!

we had a horrible pooplsion this afternoon...out of an IB....he christened one of his new IB's pretty darn good!!!! he usually has formed poos...this was just awful.....it was like he had just pooed his food straight out of him that he had eaten for lunch...(sorry girls TMI i know...but hey we do talk about nappies all day right??)

kellie - do you mean cute tooshies or cushie tushies? its not a stupid question at all hun - i found that laa gets a red bum when she wears microfleece (such as is in cushie tushies) and s SUPER red bum when she is in something that is suede cloth, so I have gottne rid of pretty much everything suede cloth and use silk liners in anything microfleece. I much prefer however to use velour nappies as this is a natural fibre and i have found there is virtually no irritation there (between velour and silk liners i rarely need any nappy creme at all).

Nofluffy news here apart from I have a big load washing away at the moment. I do have a q about ecobubs tho...do they need any special washing?

oops - eej there is cotton velour and bamboo velour - i belive there is also a synthetic velour but the nappies I have are the natural inners.... much nicer :)

ecobubs can just be washed with the rest :)
