hello ladies,
Been lurking for a while, can't anymore though (Thanks Mel) my clothiebumz order arrived today (yay for my first fluffy mail). Her May sale was too good for me to resist. Now I have to go through it all and start my pre-washes (thank goodness I start my mat leave next week). I think I may have overdone it a bit though. (about $900 later on a layby without telling DH - opps - he did know I wanted cloth though) I still have to wash some of my baby clothes and sheets yet too; going to have lots of washing happening from tomorrow and on the airers to try and dry.
How many washes & dries should I try and do for for the inserts & boosters (bamboo, microfibre) to make them reasonably absorbent (? if that's the right term) for first usages. I'm not entirely sure that the first few times we won't be using disposables but I'm keen to get into the MCNs fairly early on.
I got a wide range of brands - I think at least one of nearly everyone that Mel stocks - to make sure I could work out which would suit bubs bum (it's a surprise so tried to do the gender neutral thing too, due July 18). Have to double check what I've got cause the bag split (so many nappies and stuff in there) and to remember what I actually ordered. (the bag was taped quite well Mel - and then re-bagged so don't panic)
Thanks Kitt3n! The kids have all been calling me Ezy for years! Its quite cute and they call my hubby Heafy. Have you and Fluff seen we are having a meet up tomorrow? Its now at Clowntown at Rosehill cause the weather is so yuck. Not that Em can do any playing its more for me!
We had a succesful day today no leaks and a big poop!
awww Ezymay....i would have loved to come along tomorrow BUT i will be at work Fridays is my only working day off...apart from weekends..(but they are designated family days!!!)
Hmmmm nappy news...
I am going to kill my MIL i am sick and tired of her using 'any' bum cream she feels like on Jack whilst he is MCN's!!!!! i keep telling DH to tell her she is ruining my precious nappies and he says yeah i will..or you tell her!! BUT if i tell her i am positive i will argue...
I am sick of having to do strip washes because the stoopid cow is using the wrong things!!!! I tell DH that she has wrecked my precious fluff and i have to buy more!!!! He doesn't say anything much any more...
Mel - I think I've got that Erica nappy you're talking about! Pretty sure it's in with the nb stash Kitt3n sent my way. If I have a boy, I'll send all the girly stuff back to you asap! I'm not as liberal as Smoz
willow/mel - is that the love hearts one or the yellow one? i remember it
ezy - yeah hun I saw that but I don't drive! i know, i know, i really should get my licence - it will happen one day. There's no way I could get from here (inner west) to rose hill
fluff - why is she doing that? do you have a stash of stuff (creams) for her to use? freaking MILS
leckert - HI!!! welcome to the mayhem. hemp/bamboo needs to be washed 8 or so times to get to maz absorbency however microfibre you should be sweet with just one wash. You change the little little ones so often anyway - doesnt really matter if they havent reached absorbency
Kitt3n...yep!!! sure do send creams etc that are usable....
Speaking of creams....i know it has been asked a million times previously...
can one use Bepanthan with MCN's??? you would think i would know this by now....
WOJB ~ BBH (boosted to the MAX) / M-A-L 2 by 2 elephant cover
Fluff - no to bepanthan. Anything that's water-based, yes. Petroleum-based, no.
To test : put some on your fingers and run water over your fingers. If it washes off easily without rubbing, then yes to MCN. If it needs soap, or the water just "beads" on it, then no to MCN.
