Pip's now choosing which nappy he wants to wear, it's so cute. Hoping that will really encourage DH to use cloth when the boy hands him his preferred nappy choice!
Great idea Maz, I just can't bear to get rid of any nappies until we finish our family
addict? me? NEVER!!
Hmm I am thinking I need a new stash pic once the new nappies come over the next week. I have brought tooooo many again. DOH!
Maz, what did you do to your neck hun?
Kaz that is so cute. It is Chase in this house who picks the nappies lol he also is my big helper and puts the dirty ones in the nappy bucket, always asking first if it was wet or poopy lol He is such a great little kiddie.
AJP good luck with that I've got a few here that I need to get replaced, when I have the $ ill be sending them off to someone... dunno who yet lol Just the 2 itti boos that are shot
Fluff GL with the auction! I have too many NN... 2 iish, 1 WC, 1 bizy bee, 1 sandman, 2 GF's, 1 KK, 1 WK, 1 zada, got 2 more GF's coming.
Genesa Forge are wonderful! The best thing is if you get a night nappy they turn into day nappies too with their day/night booster set up, and the super night nappy... well I'd like to see who can pee outta that, that thing is insaine!
i have 6 KK's but i use them all on Nixon ... Gabbi is just too small to carry the bulk of them .. i use the minky magic alls at night , or a sposie as magiac alls are the best so far but even in the day time i get leg gape , i did buy a bits for bots velour fitted which i am going to boost . but i dont like my chances .. its already too wide in the legs i wish itti did a NN .. then id be happy
Just wanted to say, I know I don't post much but I do lurk and read your posts and they are so helpful. We have been in cloth since Grace and I came home from hospital and all the hints, tips and tricks you girls have discussed have been invaluable!
Just a quick question, when do you start using NN? At the moment Grace is feeding every 3 hours so it isn't too hard to change her nappy in the middle of the night. Do you wait til they start sleeping longer or pop them in one and just feed and then go back to sleep?
I started night nappies as soon as he stopped pooping at night Actually, no I used baby beehinds bamboo, and cute tooshies bamboo delights with wool covers, then once he started soaking those I changed to night nappies ( I think about 5-6 months from memory).
When they are still pooping reguarly your best to change them every feed to avoid nappy rash
Just a little WOO HOO here too, Ash slept from 6.30pm till 8am in the pram of all places!! OMG the smell of that nappy this morning made me gag and my eyes water. He was just in a bbb and woolies... gross! Is it normal for it to be super amonia smelling? I haven't had this before but the last week all his wees have smelt like this, so much so that I litrally get stingy eyes!
Cat - we started with BBH's and a cover like Mel to...then once that started getting out wee'd eg sheets were wet we got nn's. Vy is back into IB boo's for night time now as she doesnt wet as much
having a blah day...so much to do and cant be arsed!
We always change if she woke up as a nb just so going back to her cot with a dry bottom so new that she wouldn't not sleep because of it even if only wee, and that was when she in sposies, so would prob do more so in cloth?
Just as a note, we don't need night nappies here - a BBH Bamboo with a fleece of wool cover lasts the whole night here without leaking or wicking through cover. Don't even need to boost it most nights. So I would hold off on buying a NN until you know what kind of wetter Grace will consistently be and just buy one when she needs it.
Also, I googled the Genesa Forges - Ohhhh myyyyyy! I really want one of the custom bumble bee and caterpillar's for bubby = I can't find sizing charts for the customs though, maybe since website is undergoing work - just option to choose a small, med etc but don't want to without knowing what weight corresponds to what size - does anyone who has one remember the weights for their sizing??
hmmm i have a bubba that doesn't pee overnight!!! well, most nights she doesn't anyway. the first time it freaked me out til a friend mentioned many bubbas don't pee until they are awake or stir. i've been taking notice of what DD does, and if she is picked up soon after waking and fed again, she will go back to sleep, stay asleep while i check her nappy and go back to bed after another feed. last night she slept for 8 or more hours, i fed her in her sleep (i was expoding!) checked her nappy, fed some more, checked her again, and after about an hour she woke up to play with daddy in bed (was 8am or after) when i checked again, she was JUST wet. her next nappy, about an hour later, was soaked through. it seems to be the pattern we have - not that i'm whinging!! i can tell if she wets just after i check her cos she'll fuss and won't go back to sleep for me, won't feed properly
WOEB - pony WW - these nappies are FANTASTIC - they last so well and fit brilliantly
I have noticed the amonia smell seems to be stronger when Lachlan is teething.
Talking about that at the moment he is cutting some back molars and OMG the probs we are having. I have an amber necklace hopefully arriving tomorrow. I am hoping it gets better soon as he is a popping machine at the moment and its like water so he is in sposies at the moment , i cant bear to stain his nappies as its a lovely yellow water that goes everywhere ( sorry TMI)
any hints or am i just better off using sposies till it clears
I hope it clears up as i should be getting my fluffy mail from Mel during the week .
Do any of your children need a new Grandma? She's definitely a great grandmother, buys lots of presents gives lots of cuddles etc. She just is sometimes NOT a good mother.
Why can't some people just be supportive? I made a "test" dress for my niece's flowergirl dress. Used scrap fabric just so I can get sizing correct before using the good stuff. Brought it upstairs to iron it so I could top stitch and as I'm walking past get a "oh you're not making her wear THAT are you. Didn't do such a good job on that one did you."
*sigh* I just walked away.
Still being hounded to lend my stash to my sister. I'm surprised my mother hasn't put herself in that conversation as well.
Not a good day here.
Hope you're all having better ones. Sorry to run in, dump my crap, and run out.
The GF website is a bit tricky, but in the "About Us" section there's a size chart.
Wish I'd known about the GF super NN when DS started wetting thru the BBB and fleece (around 6.5 months). I have three Wild Child, one Sandman and one Bubblebubs GNST and the GF is the last one I got and is the best fit. I wanted a KK but there was none available at the time... The only downfall to the GF is that it's an AIO so I don't get to use a spanky Maz-a-licious cover over it! But DS is cutting molars at the moment too, so I don't want to go stinking them up with that toxic stuff at night anyway! OMG he reeks!
As for fit, usually side-snappers fit best on him coz of his chubbly thighs and skinny waist. But the front-snapping GF sits well and no leg gape or wing droop, which is an issue with all the other NNs we have. I got him a large, and it fit great from about 10kg.
Question - can any of you people that sew recommend a good elastic to use to replace in dodgy BumGs? And where can I get it from?
CM - oh, boo to your mama! That's just uncalled for. I woulda given her a big fat raspberry... just coz I'm, like, so mature and everything...
Tan - the amber necklaces are great. I have to send mine back to have the clasp replaced tomorrow, thanks for reminding me! (DS pulled it off me and broke it). He cut two bottom teeth and a molar in two days, without much more than a rosy cheek and stinky wee for a bit.
Mel the ammonia smell can be eye watering I haven't had it since I've been using canestin rinse but I'm not sure how it will affect the nappies long term. I started a thread about this on NC too
CM geez they really kow how to stick the knife in sometimes! Don't be tempted to lend your stash though, unless you put a time on it so she can save money and build up her own!
NaNa just make sure the elastic you get is swimwear stuff and it should last longer than regular elastic.
BG mine have been massive pee-ers but not in the night nappy. They let it all go after the first change
Cat congratulations I don't use a dedicated NN. Just do baby beehinds bamboo and find that's enough. Luckily for me they haven't been huge wetters. Once they started sleeping for longer stretches like 6 hours then I'd use one. Before then bamboo prefold worked just dandy!
Jols shouldn't be too tricky being pockets but still a PIA
