Oscar wet thru another ecobub. small are way to small so I tried medium but the leg fit is still not good. However I think he might grow in to this one, we'll wait a few weeks and try again.
BBBH fitted and a disana cover seemed to do the trick.
Do I need to wash/lanolise a wool cover after each use? I remember reading people can use them a few times before washing/lamolising?
Kitt3n - does she have the penguin or did you provide it? ;)
WOOB: black GF minkee AI2
-
ray - i sent her the link you set me up with! she shoudl still have it :)
i just put our bizybee shimmer nappy on her and.... there is bum crack :'( nooooooooo
-
BLAHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
having one of those days :(
BG - thank god!!!!! im so glad you like it hon
who was after cheap NN again? there are 4 on Buyforbay at $5 each :o and one of my NN for $38....SHIAT
will be back when sanity has returned to my head
-
Thanks Maz for the sizing - unfortunately I have NO idea what Elly's measurements are, and I don't like my chances of getting her to stop wiggling to let me get accurate ones (is challenging enough to change nappy without her rolling all over her poo ) What about weights??
DD is about 7.5kg at 7.5 months (ie-she's pretty much a thinnish average, not chunky thighs or tummy or anything.
Kitt3n what weight/type is your bub as about the same age? How much room left in the medium GF's you've got since they fit now? I am only used to buying nappies off weight, so am at a total loss.
Also, I am keen to try a side snap, but have heard they are particularly good for chunky thighed kids - does that mean I might be better going for a front snap for fit on a thinner bub??
I'm impressed at the non-weeing/pooing night babies!! Mine is not a heavy wetter, but I am usually STILL greeted with a sticky mass in the mornings still - wonder how long it's been in there. Ech.

Just a thought, I use a MAL cover on everything that has leg gape (including AIOs) for Leah and we havent had any leaks onto her clothes with MAL. Would it be worth using a cover for what doesnt quite seal?
Well Leah is ready for a NN already. She is 3.93kg now and the cot sheets were wet this morning. She doesn't usually poo at night and we cosleep so we dont get out of bed unless we absolutely have to. DH has put our Medium MAL NN on her a couple of times. She is growing into it nicely (Maz hun I LOVE the amount of elastic in the legs, no gape even with chicken legs!!) but we dont have any Medium covers, and the woolies are just right on the nappy but nowhere near small enough at the waist.
Lex - Can you track online? Still not here.
CM - Do you need some sanity? Unfortunately I don't know where to buy any, I have been looking for it for years
WOLB: ME Sandys with MAL cover (can't remember which one)
WOEB: BubbleJ with MAL cars cover.
-
Sas - I have skinny kids, and side snaps work ever so much better in this house than front snaps. Get too many wing droop issues with them if they are front snapping ones.
Oh and FWIW - Miss M is still in medium GF's - and she's nearly a year and nearly 10kg.
(OMG - Miss M is nearly a year old!!!!! Farrrrr out.. )
-
Hi girls!!!
Emily slept through last night!!! The first night in ages but she was in a sposie cause of nappy rash and woke up soaked!!!!! All through her clothes and grobag! Stupid sposie.
And we have a lovely day here again today so nappies are on the line!!
Yeah Mel how fast does it go!! We are planning Em's first brithday party at the mo!
-
i sooo hear you Mel and Ezy !! Gabbi is 1 next month too ..... a little scary . Mel , i cant believe Miss M is 10kg ! shes doing great for a long and lean babe ! Gabbi is so short and pudge , but hovering at the 8kg mark ... shes goign to be 1 and not even 9 kgs :0 maybe i should feed her once in a while ;) <joke>
NN are an issue for us .. nuff said
Ali , i have a MAL 2 up cover which i love :) ive never put it over an AIO , just a fitted . but i'll give it a try ! thanks ..
im having a super ****ola day and i really should be cleaning but DS is irritating me and i want to ignore him so cyber space it is !!
no fluff today .. perhaps tomorrow .. am going to pay off my itti laybuy BUT today i noticed windroop in the med size ... does this mean its too small ???
-
How do they know to hold on to the pooey nappy bit until after you change them to a new nappy because of a wet nappy after waking up for a feed? DS's done this the last 3 days during the day when using MCNs and not when using sposies overnight  Have worked out though to make sure there's no leg gape - got a wee bath on me, the feeding pillow and chair earlier today when he decided to wee while feeding. Noice! discovered afterwards that the side that leaked had some gape-age there.
-
I'm so excited . . and I just can't hide it . . I ordered . . so-ome . . mo-ore . . gor-geous . . nappies . . naaaappiies.
Woo hoo, GF Custom Bumble Bee side-snapping (thanks Mel) minky and Caterpillar Night Nappies heading this way - figured may as well get the extra absorbency of the night's, only an extra $2. Of course they'll take aaaaages, but look like they'll be worth the wait.
Nikki says the Med's go from 7 - 11kg-ish maybe more if thin bub, so they should last the distance here, especially if bub keeps up this closing of the mouth whenever food or milk comes near. Grrr, blasted teeth.
WOEB: BBH & Maz Minkee Cow Cover (it's 7, that means time for bed)
-
oooh Sas you wont be disapointed, they are lovely and well worth the wait.
-
oooh oooh ooh Im a bit excited.
I looged in to my FB page, and I've won a pop-in dream dri from OBT!!!
wooohooo! Im very excitable as I cant really afford any new fluff for a while so to win something, and after the night nappy dramas I've been having I hope this one fits well!

RAYRAY
take a deep breath, you're doing great
Covers
How often to wash them
you go to change bubs
if it's a wet nappy, air the PUL cover and put on a fresh PUL cover for the new nappy.
NEXT nappy change, use cover 1 again. so you're just ALTERNATING
same for FLEECE covers.
only wash if - it was a pooey nappy change, and poop has gotten on the cover
or
the cover has been used a few times and is on the nose whiffy like
for WOOL soakers/shorties/longies
only wash if poop escapes the nappy and gets on teh inner of the woolly.
air out the woolly and alternate with another cover (inbetween wears).
but you can go for a MONTH without washing a woolly soaker, if no poop gets on the woolly. When the woolly starts getting on the nose whiffy like, THEN it's time to
HANDWASH and LANOLISE the woolly.
so the key principle is
ALTERNATE
don't keep using the same cover for every nappy change
if you see poo - time for a wash.
if your nose tells you "ewww", - time for a wash
(this is for ALL covers)
hth Ray Ray.
LECKERT - the first week i was breastfeeding my new bub, i had foolishly bought only SMALL covers (no newborn sized ones), thinking i was saving money and beign sensible. EVERY feed in the first week, with massive leg gape that i was unaware of, i got leaks of ALL descriptions, allover ME, the SOFA, i was changing clothes MANY times per day, the breastfeeding pillows, you name it. it was not pretty.
some nice patient online MCN people put me straight, i hurriedly bought some NEWBORN sized covers and the hour i started using those - NO MORE LEAKS (gapeage disappeared). bliss! With post c-section complications (e.g i could not bend, or walk without holding onto the wall), i cannot tell you how impressed i was with having correct sized covers. My ideas about "saving money" were re-assessed with the opportunity cost of scrubbing poo multiple times per day (i had a child who was pooping minimum ten times a day, more than that in first week).
i remember changing her BEFORE the feed, and then hearing splurty noises DURING The feed, so another change AFTER the feed. she fed every two hours like a clock. So i'm not exaggerating to say she was changed like 20x a day in the first phase. (hmm now i'm thinking 20 nappies a day, if i had been using sposies, that would have meant buying 140 sposies per week!!). Looking back, those newborn covers weren't so expensive after all. ANd i kept using the bamboo trifolds until she tt-d.
wotbb: said child is now 2.5 and toilet trained (sigh), right now, sleeping in blueberry trainers and longies.
-
sas - yay! you wont be dissapointed, gf's are fantastic. laa is still in the mediums and i think she will get quite a while out of them (has been in them well before 7kg, prob about 6?). LAst check a few weeks ago se was 8kg, but i really think in the last week she has put on at least half a kilo, she is eating so much! I have some larges too - and she COULD wear them now, they would just be a bit bulky, but no leg gape.
rayray - yay on the win!!!!!:dance: i think they are the mocrofibre ones, havent seen them but i do love the originals.
gigi - i understnad the multiple poo thing, laa has only recently calmed down on her bppos, there were 6-12 a day for a LONG time. Now I am using half the mcn that i was before (which is easier, but they are not getting the work out that they used to!)
leckert - lol i dont know hun, but they also know to start crying when mum and dad wanna get kinky. babies are the best contraception i tell ya!!
lea - not sure about them being to small hun. i keep debating to keep/sell my ittis. they fit great one week then the next they are really bad. i guess they are an in between nappy
as for us, i have noticed that some weeks laa can only wear side snappers, then the next week the itti's/abby gros are a better fit, its really amazing how she can change. I think it depends on the chub on her belly!
i am waiting on wrap fluff - a didy ring sling and a girasol wrap.... COME POSTIE!! (you know the stuff you are so excited about that you dont wanna jump in shower just incase he comes??!!)
WOHB - embroidered sea horse widdlewun. LOVE widdlewuns
-
Ray that is awesome!!! I love winning things! I was soooo over the moon when I won the CK VHC tee from Lesleys blog :)
Kitten hopefully the postie comes soon! I am waiting for some WC fluff, some second hand WC fluff, and 13 pairs of babylegs lol
-
Congrats Ray!!!
Anyone want a daytime TTed 3 year old? I have one to give away - to anyone!!! She is driving me bonkers!! If the misbehaviour keeps going I might have to refuse to give her dinner!!
If only we didn't have big debts... My tax notice of assesment has just arrived, and the topups for FTB are on my centrelink log in. I want to replace my dying washing machine and buy more smaller nappies for Leah.
Oh, I just remembered I have to go to the post office and pick up 2 parcels. Best be off.
WOLB: IF Sparkles

ali - i can offer my almost 3yr old to a good home as well ... he now knows how to unlock the front door and escape out side ... i couldnt find him for about 10 yesterday and he came from some hwere out side ... gave me a huge fright , i had nightmares about it last night ... all i could see was this open door . and it was darkness outside and i kept calling nixons name ... scary !!! grr i hate debts too .. unfortuneatley we just bought a business , and DH has took it upon him self to spend $3500 on tools !!!! hes been spending so much on himself "for the business" but in reality i reckon the business is just an excuse to buy them as i know he wanted them to use at home , so in my mind ... there really just for him  i chucked a wobbly at him and wanted to know where my $3500 of clothes shoes and nappies were ... i felt a bit left out :(
anyway ... im looking forward to the swap ... i can wait to see what we all will get !
im out of down loads (thanks DH ... bloddy torrent pond ) so BB is really really slow and i cant even load FB so i might have to use the iphone to go one there ...
I did a stripwash in the FL yesterday .. it took 3 hrs and 52 mins ! i had a huuuge back log of washing and the whole morning was spent on the strip wash , but they came out nice and fresh so i hope its taken away the funky smell DS leaves in the night nappys
awaiting on fluff today , lets hope it arrives :)
-
I am so not looking forward to having to strip wash. Lucky we haven't had to do it yet :)
No fluffy news here. oh yeah I brought some new nappies. Whizz Kidz fitteds, We have 7 now, love them :) The NN are awesome.
Hmm what else... hopefully I hear back from Nikki soon about my customs, pay for them next week, then they will arrive and I can roll around in the softness for a while.
That's all :)
WOHB: Whizz Kidz fitted, woolybottoms pants and longies over the top... it's chilly here today!
-
Hi I thought I would come in here for a bit.
My friend lent me 9 nappis to trial for a bit to see if I like cloth as dd was leaking out of huggies all the time.
She has leant me 4 small itti bitti's, 2 magicals (don't like them as much), 1 small swadlbee, 2 bbb and cover for night use.
So far been one day and seems to be working. Now to convince dh and figure out how many I will need, thinking of just itti bittis in a medium should do hopefully till she toilet trains. and then a few night nappis.
WORB= blue swadlbee
-
welcome sweetpea :) I have a 10 month old in large ittis so mediums might not fit till TT ;)
Have you tried the minky magicalls? I love them! The rise is much better and now they make them in a osfm (multifits). Lea (*charmalea* a couple of posts up) on here sells them and can do you a good deal ;)
No fluffy came today :( Sniff... but I did write a list of what I am expecting!
Soaps
2 WC -second hand
Tikki Longies (getting made atm)
Longies and matching beanie
600g of gorgeous Yarn Collective wool (drooool)
2 Whizz Kidz fitteds
13 pairs of babylegs from IBF
1 WC mushie fitted and 2kg tri nature from Wild Child
2 ag's - second hand
3 pairs of HL
2 twinkle lily
VBSN - front snapping
baby soft wraps SS nappy
Can't wait for the fluff to begin rolling in :)
Also am currently getting some shimmer nappies from Sarah (bizy bee) made up, can't wait to get them!
-
Leah wore the MAL NN last night. it was pretty soaked when I took it off this morning. little miss pi$$y pants. Her butt was bigger than my head too!!
Em has been stripping in her cot too, so that has been wet a few times. Very frustrating.
Sweetpea - sounds like she might be best suited to narrow crotches. Gigi is the expert on narrow nappies.
Mel - WOW!!! Thats a lot of fluff!!
Sarah still wants to be given away. she drew on the walls this arvo :wall:
WOLB: Booroi prefold with ME rikki cover
WOEB: nada, running around the back yard.
-
Missymoo84, my dd has been in the smalls with space and not out weeting them today, she is 12 months old and only 7.5 kilos. Hence why I am hoping that medium will fit her till she is about 2, my kids a skinny minnies.
Yeah I have got two minkie magicals to try and they are quiet wide on her, they fit but not as trim.
Besides buyforbaby is there anywhere else for second hand nappies, as dh wont fork out for new.
-
Mel - that's a truckload of fluffy goods.
Ali - for some reason I went to type Leah instead of Ali. Hmm. lol I can imagine Leahs huge NN bum though, so cute!! As for the naughty little one, is she playing up because there are no visitors around now and getting a little bored? I was going to take DS to maze mania or Lollipops soon if you wanted to bring the girls to run out their energy?
Someone had a 12month old in a size small itti? My gosh she must be tiny! Those things are so small.
Aww I want a tiny bum to put fluff on. On that front, not good news. My mum (at almost 50) was just diagnosed with Endo. I have to go to my dr in a few days - most likely the cause of no baby yet. :( :( :( Can I cry now? Too late.
-
oh wow!! She is tiny :) Well Ash is 11kg at 10 months lol he was 5kg born though so I knew he would be a big boy :)
Buyforbaby, nappy Chic, nappycino and nappy addicts.
Stay away from ebay and those sites, most of the time it's stab and miss as to quality.
-
Hi Sweetpea. You could try nappy chic for 2nd hand.
Ordered 2 ecobubs another pop in (not the new type) and a something else side snapping (cant remember name) from a certain C bumz site. 25% off yay.
am going back to get some baby legs.
Soooo, am waiting on those 4
2 pocket nappies from the cloth nappy shop
2 spunky butts
soaps
and an auriel.
Yay for the postie....
-
-
Cheeky monkey, yeah that would be me with the 12 month old in a small itti, she is about 72cm tall and 7.5 kilos so yeah small.
Missymoo, I thought dd would be big she was 4.155kg born but just slowed down in weight etc. Thanks for the sites will have a look at them. Trying to convince dh this is a good idea.
WORB still in swadlebee as she is still asleep.
-
Sweetpea !! Hi! My dd is 1 and is 8 kg too so ikwym that you need tiny nappies
gabbi is in a med itti and the tabs meet in the middle there is heaps of room for her to grow
so you should be good in the med ittis are the best fit for us at the moment
gabbi also wears minky magic alls to bed the last all night with out a leak :)
wow Mel sooo many nappies for you :) lucky duck
Maz - your wonderful :)
I got mal fluff today I'll put pics in my fb
Wogb smooth magic all with llama jama longies and is fast asleep in
my arms .... Awwwww
Ali - we should send our kids to boot camp today nix emptied a whole tube of nappy rash cream on the carpet and then tipped my wipes solutioon top , and the went to play golf with a knife ( a big knife) he hasn't had a day nap and boy is he on my nerves !!
-
CM - Maze Mania is cheaper (Lollipops costs me $18 before food and drinks with only 2 of the kids!)
Finding out is going to be better than not knowing. It will make it easier to get help.
Sweetpea - if it didnt look like she would have leg gape then DD3 would be able to wear medium ittis!! DD2 is 13kg and can wear the mediums though.
-
Shell - thank-you, much needed at the moment.
Ali - MM is fine. What days and times are you free? Another friend of mine is coming also, so just need to check that we can all make the same times.
-
CM - have appointments friday arvo and Monday morning, and Thurs morning is MG apart from that any time
Lea - Yep, They can come home when they can behave
Was going to write more but the booby monster is calling
WOLB: Bubblebubs and tots bots cover
WOS&EB: Bath water.
-
Hey girls
I shouldnt have read the thread today - I saw a Bumz store had 25% off and just HAD to have a look ....
1 x Cookies & Cream Eco bub (which I wasnt going to buy )
1 x Greenkids minky retro blue dot and insert
2 x bamboo booster later
..... oh well, I figure I am selling my 7 x Medium Ittis and only have 4 large to replace them, so another 2 nappies will be fine ;)
Z has just started weeing through the Ecobubs with just the micro insert (as Sweetpea witnessed today!) hence the bamboo booster to put between the micro layers - does anyone just put a bamboo or hemp booster in anyway and leave the microfibre out??? How is the wicking??
I have 1 x BBH Magicall - and I find it takes sooooo long to dry. it is a sized Medium - is there another type that everyone raves about cos I dont think I must have the right one??? it snaps as well ...
-
Sami - my magicalls are the slowest drying of all our nappies. they take min 2 days and often need to be finished off in the dryer. that's why we only have 2. they are large and small.
-
Hi ladies,
well I am a bit dissapointed today. I have a fushia CT (one of the new "improved" type) which Em wore today and it leaked again for the 3rd time! Not just leaked... poor Em was soaked up to her arm pits after her sleep. I thought there was going to be a small prob with leg gape so I took out the booster before her nap but it didn't help. She was only in it for 2 hours. Normally she can stay in a CT for ages. Its a bugger cause I LOVE CTs why did they have to "improve" them!!!
Other news....I feel crapola!!! I have a cold again!!! Must be the 3rd or 4th this year. blah
I hope everyone else is good. Sounds like the postie is bringing some fluffy goodness to a few of you!!!
-
hmmm , my magic alls dry pretty fast. i turn em inside out and face them directly to the sun , so they hang over 2 lines of the clothes horse ... not dangling down lenght ways , funny coz they are the 1st ones i grab as i know they'll be dry lol ... its all differnt eh ?? my sewn in ittis dry fast too i hang them the same way as the MA's .. are yours pocket ones SamiH ??? if they are the old style with no pocket , than yes ... those ones do take ages to dry
lou lous - now they take AAAAGGGGES to dry !!!!
whats been improved on the CTs ???
dont you hate it when they wake up saturated , gabbi is in a MA smooth outer , been asleep for 3 hrs , so i must go in and change her soon ...
going to see mr tax man tomorrow , then i will be able to dtermin my fluff spending , my aim is to get my itti layby off and thats it really ... has the perth baby expo been yet ??? i love another trial pack ... and want to see if someone can get me one ?? or is anyone parting with their med ittis ??
-
I have to agree with Lea - my magicalls dry pretty damn fast. I also turn them inside out and have the microfibre facing upwards. *sigh* haven't hung any nappies on the line for weeks and weeks now.
-
yes it is a pocket one ... I will try turning it inside out and see what happens - I was perplexed because I have read so many people say they dry so quick!! I thought I must have the "wrong" kind somehow LOL
My boy was up with a 39.2 temp overnight - why - bleh, who knows - but he fed like 4 times overnight which is very rare - inbetween a bit of crying and playing on my bed for a while whilst some paracetamol kicked in - he usually feeds once every second night! - so here I am exhausted drinking coffee and trying to get the other two ready for school and pre-school today - i will look like the daggy mum who hasnt done her hair and is in trackies and jumpers with mascara smudged under her eyes ... i hate this tiredness :(
-
Damn it Lea!!!!! I just sold off all my edium Itti's..all sewn ins bar 1!!!!
WOJB ~ MAL NN / 2by2 2up cover (is crawling around and mummy is being lazy and hasn't changed him yet!!!)
