has Arimeh had her bub? i am so out of da loop!

    Teagz, i had a 3.79kg bub
we used bamboo foldups (baby beehinds ones) as when i had bilbs, bamboo prefolds were not being made, so i made do with the foldups. then i realised bamboo trifolds did the job also. anyhoo, i had those bamboo foldups on bilby (as the nappy), INSIDE a bambino mio NEWBORN SIZED cover. We got 100% NO LEAKS, on my frequently pooping baby.

However, if i put aio or pockets on her, LEAKS EVERYWHERE!

so when you ask about bambino mio, i am not a fan of cotton prefolds, regardless of the brand, but i am a big fan of covers with leg gussets.

i tried a few brands, the ones that impressed me the most (covers with leg gussets) were in order
    1. imse vimse
    2. bambino mio

i had a 3.79kg bub with skinny chicken legs.

i really believe, different things work on different shaped bubs. i had a range of things to TRY on my baby (bought when pregnant and nesting like crazy). within the first week at home, i tried them all out, and with MY particular bub, the bamboo foldups and leg gusset covers were The Winner. (My criteria was "whatever didn't leak, was The Winner". i was too unwell to be cleaning up poo leaks and changing her AND me, multiple times a day plus cleaning up sofas etc. And our other options DID lead to all that. Little chicken legs are hard to obtain "leg seal" with. Avoiding leaks is ALL about fit! and as i found out in the first week "doing them up firmly enough". i was TOO TIMID and did things up too loose, to begin with. i was scared of hurting her legs oh well, it was my first time being a mum.

CHARMLEA - poor little caterpilla, have you isolated what is causing the rash for her?

SARAM - you sound as sad as me! bilby's swim nappy lost it's elastic, and even though she doesn't NEED a swim nappy anymore, i coudln't help myself but LOOK at all the swim nappies. Eventually i came to my senses, but I HAD TO LOOK FIRST!

i no longer have the "perfect stash" dreams though.

but i do look at last summer's photos and think, only last summer my little girl was in fluff! god she was cute in it ha ha.

Gigi - I know! What is the knicker equivilent of MCN??? I miss them so much. Don't feel confident having DD in dresses anymore cause people can see her knickers - I can feel a bloomer stage coming on :-)

    Hi guys!

Been flat out with family. Little one had yet another reaction to another sposie (initially had a well known brand's new disgn cause blisters) so been glued to her 3 days straight. It seems to clear as soon as she's back in cloth. Still trying to figure out a good night nappy/cover combo.

My heart goes out to your lil one Charmalea. It's heartbreaking when a munckin is in so much pain!

Saram, i feel the same about bilby in dresses. i have bought her a stash of plain tshirt fabric capri length shorts. She has shorts on under all her dresses. i KNOW how she can sit/lie down etc (legs akimbo), and i know how gapey most of her knicker legholes are (in the smallest size knickers i can find at the shops). I also don't want her burning her thighs on play equipment, when she sits down on the slippery dip etc.

Charmlea, if nappy rash preparations have alcohol in them, what about going back to ala natural e.g aloe vera? do you have any aloe vera plants?

    cooled chamomile tea diluted?

    morning ladies!!!

just a friendly word of advice - if your bub is going to eat a packet of blueberries... well, be ware of the poo repercussions!! Came out in the wash, but was washed that day. Black as night poo!!

Never tried the mio range - sorry can't help there. But if i was buying prefolds for a new bub I would go with booroi or some nice OBV hand dyed ones. To add to the list of covers with leg gussets there is Booroi and Bummis. You can also use the pop in shell as a cover. Booroi and bummis covers double up as great swim nappies too!!

All this talk of NB fitteds is making me so clucky!! It is a good idea to get out smaller ones and give them a wash once in a while isnt it? Helps keep the elastic good doesnt it? Good excuse anyway? !! :P

Still trying to figure out a good night nappy/cover combo.
if your LO suits front closing, the Drybees fleece pocket nappies (close with aplix) would be a simple night nappy. (malden mills fleece outer). Put a bamboo trifold/prefold inside it. ClothnCraft stock those.

if your LO suits front closing snaps, what about a Fluffybubs Dreams night nappy (that's a hybrid style. you can use it JUST with the snaps ins - like an AI2, or snapins PLUS the pocket insert - depends how much absorbency your child needs.) there is a Fluffybubs site.

buy a night nappy according to your bub's RISE measurement and their kgs/

    to measure rise:
start measuring tape at her navel
take tape down under her legs and up the small of her back, roughly level with her navel
    that is her RISE measurement.

tell the seller your baby's rise measurement, to make sure you buy the right size for YOUR bub.

bilby has SHORT legs, but a LONG rise, so it's not all down to whether they are tall or not.

hey all ! yeh mel i wanna see pic are they on FB (lazy havent been on there in yonks)

update on gabbi bum : still the same

I cant figure out what it is , possibly teething her diet is the same and all my nappies reek , if had a snappi id use TT untill i can strip wash all my aio's

it was clearing up so well while she was in sposies and paw paw ointment , then 2 days in mcn and sneaking in bbq shapes at a party has made it flare up again .. i just cant get rid of it , i may have to get some canesten rinse , all the nappies have has a medic rinse (sorta like a stripwash) but its still there . poor thing , its too hot for spoises but ny nappies are giver her the rash or not making it any better so i dont know what to do...

no nappy is whats she does , but i sick of her sli[[ing over in her wee

and i dont have any aloe in my garden.. might have to snoop around my street

i like the sound of the "Petite-alls" too (side snappers, trim), and it was great to see the baby beehinds ad (being shown in Qld i believe) on the youtube link. (this was all in the baby beehinds emails, sent to anyone on their mailing list).
