It has been forever since I've been in here and I can't write much as James is standing next to me and Jeremy is on my lap.
But I have a quick question...
I'm noticing that Jeremy has a bit of a plummer's crack with some of his medium nappies... but it seems impossible to me that he would need large ones already when he is only 7.5 months old?????
He weighs 10kgs and is long as well (approx 76cm when I last measured) but it still seems crazy!
Are there smallish large nappies out there???

I might not be much help but I have seen some sites advertise long rise nappies as well as regular. I noticed DD was the same but i now use OSFM instead of sized. I just used OSFM because I like these particular brands because they suit DD.
WOCB: Abby Gro Care bear fleece breeze.
Ashton was in larges about then (possibly a little earlier) and he was about the same weight too :) He is still in those same larges now so they will last a while :):
Wild Child, Bits For Bots, Genesa Forge. They are good for m/l and large nappies.
Bits for Bots would have to be my favourites though at the moment.
Missymoo - Yes, that is fungus, and it's damn hard to get rid of, changing liners won't help and the reason sposies are is because it's keeping all moisture at bay. Elly has had the EXACT same thing on and off for a few weeks now, red spots that blister and look terrible not at all like normal nappy rashe. It's not food or liner related with her either as I have nappies from about 5 different materials and I don't think at her age she's suddenly developed an allergy to all of them. I haven't done the canesten rinse yet, but what has helped immensely has been using the normal canesten/clotrimazole cream every nappy change she's in cloth for which is through the day (since it's a rub in clear anti-fungal cream you don't need a liner either) and at night when it flares up have had to resort to the sposies with the canesten + a barrier cream over it. The thing to remember with anything fungal is that one the sores disappear it's still there, so you have to keep up applying the cream for at least 14 days after the rash disappears and if you don't get canesten rinse use tea tree oil in the rinse cycle of your nappies to kill any spores in there.

Oh btw - I only have two in nappies now - DS is toilet trained (well except for the occasional poo in his undies!! and his night nappies, they have been dry in the morning the last few nights but I'm too scared to do without them!)

Thanks Sarah! I am going to the shop tomorrow to get the canasten to do the nappies, will stop at the chemist to and get cream for his bum. Even though they have almost cleared up in sposies they are still there... so I think that is the best option right now. I am not going to put him back in the cloth nappies until it's completely cleared. I can't imagine how much it's been hurting him :(

one thing i dont get is how such a tiny bum can wear a nappy that big especially the night ones i noticed jamie has a really tiny bum which is why im so surprised his nappies fit and hes in mediums and larges the size of his bum says maybe he would fit in a small lol

Ordered 6 Abby Gro nappies today and I got a choice of colour/patterns. Was running around so excited. On the way I have:
1 black dot minkee
1 aqua gelato minkee
1 raspberry slush gelato minkee
1 citrus slush gelato minkee
1 black skulls minkee and
1 daisy black/red minkee
Sister and I were going nuts for an hour trying to decide!

Shanti I learnt to knit a couple of months ago and made a rainbow baby beannie! It's so cute :) I just looked up how to knit on youtube and had a little help from a BB'er who answered my post about 'gaining' stiches lol I thought about making woolen soakers but the wool would probably cost more than buying one and I don't think I would do a very good job of making the soakers. But what the heck, you've inspired me, I think I will get some wool from spotlight next time I am there... but then again I will need to lanolise it etc etc.. ohhh it's sounding too hard again :confused:
I got my first GF's! yay - they are just sooo lovely, they are night naps but are still so trim and great fitting :) I might have to get me some more
I'm starting to sell off part of my stash, DD2 has worked out velcro :doh: so I now need to get all snaps, or put her in pants, but I hate covering cute little nappies. With the GDUNH I'm going to take advantage of the great specials :)

Ryatha- LOOOOOOOOOOOVE AG's. I even used one of the fleece lined ones for a night nappy the other night after DD decided she would do 2 poos within 2 hours (after we put her to bed *sigh). Was desperate and thought the PUL on the other nappies might not breathe enough. They are made soooooooo well too!

Hi ladies!! Just wondering if any hunters can help me - I'm after a mooncup (or similar) and I was hoping to find some on special during the hunt!
Can anyone tell me who sells them or if anyone has seen some super specials? I know Obsidian Star sell them, but they aren't on super special (I think its just 10% off) So if there isn't anyone else I'll just go there :)

Anyone know of cheap huggalugs or baby legs? I have been trying to get pants on DD so much but she won't let me so I put her in her highchair and put her babylegs on :lol: Now I need more though because she gets them FILTHY crawling around.
CL - did you see Pretty Butterfly's nappy shop was closing? She had some on special (Butt-a-fly nappies) not sure if she has any left though - check the MPM section if you didn't see it

I bought my first BBH Night nappy yesterday and a Petite AI2!!! Yay! Can't wait to get them!!!! Fluff.... :D poor DH, he gets home from work and the first thing I say to him is "i've spent more $$" :lol:

ohhh shanti I bought 2 of the BBH petites and they are adorable!!!!! I so wish I could by 30 of them but they are kinda expensive, I also got 2 BBH newborn PUL covers and even they are a fair bit bigger than the petites.. I wish I could find some cheap petite size minky PUL covers to put over my prefolds and I would be happy as larry :p
ryatha you girls may be waiting a while for an update on that knitting, the ball of wool I used for the beanie was sitting here for over 6 months before I did anything with it lol
CrazyLady No no no, there isn't really that much dedication at all, I started a heat pack cover after I finished the beanie but I haven't done anything on it for at least a month :doh:
Now did I read somewhere in this thread that it's not good to put microfibre near bubs bum because it's drying? I intend to use a liner over the top but there would still be microfibre on their bottom where the liner isn't covering.

I read that microfibre thing somewhere too. I believe it because we have a microfibre towel for DD and it dries her in 30 seconds flat. It stops her staying wet and too cold :p

Anyway, I just received a woolen cover made by sandy at squeeky cheeks. It is adorable!! Well worth the wait! Cant wait to use it! I am considering also buying some longies but would like them gender specific so I guess Ill have to wait a few more months to buy :D

Hi Camme thanks for replying to me, I have so much to learn :doh: I was hoping that I had it wrong and the stuff I have is microfleece but no it's microfiber... I have some boosters which are microfiber, they are meant to be put into a pocket nappy but they are the same fabric as the eenee nappies which are also microfibre and by the sounds of their website they say you can put it directly onto the skin. I intended to fold them up in a rectangle like suggested (and use the boosters in the same way) and then put a liner on top, than put into a BBH's cover (not an eenee one), but the liner wouldn't cover the whole microfiber that might touch bubs skin. Is is really that drying? Has anyone used those eenee nappies, not necessarily the whole system but those microfiber nappies? I'm totally annoyed that I have so many of them and may not be able to use them as planned :wall::

I just read up on them Cherished and I can't believe they are selling them like flats! I would never do it - simply because when I was stuffing pockets with the stuff it dried out my hands so much I got cracks in my skin of all my fingers, and I don't have pockets with it anymore because of that reason. Most of my stash was pockets, so I had to stuff a lot of it, and even now, many months later, my hands are still incredibly dry and if I miss a day of moisturising them, they are shocking!!
I mean, they would still be good for stuffing pockets but yeah, I'd never use them like a flat. Maybe I have sensitive skin or something, but jeez... I dunno..
Cherished there is absolutely NO way I would put it on bubs skin. That really is a terrible recommendation by the company!
Have you played around with microfibre much? It dries out the skin on your fingers like crazy!

OOOO, I think that's what my friend gave me. Are they the flats you are talking about? She didn't like them as her little boy had a reaction to them and was moving so couldn't transport them. They make great cleaning cloths for glass/mirrors :lol::
I know microfibre is drying but i only pat down DD with it after her bath and she doesn't even get completely dry I do it that fast
I talked to two of my friends last night who are pretty well known nappy makers here in Aus, and they can't believe it either that they are selling them like flats!!! Its crazy!

I bought a bunch of osfm and they have microfibre inserts, plus i bought an extra 30 boosters just in case. I had some fitted nappies that were only 2 layers of flannel so I ripped them open and sewed in 2 layers of microfibre.. its not going to touch babies skin though because it is in the middle.
Im never buying or using microfibre again though because when I cut it it was like a big ****** like snow in the house! And like Camme said, my hands were so dry after playing around for it after only an hour. Hate to see what they are like after stuffing the pockets every day.
"Sigh" Then bang my head! :wall: There must be a way to salvage the microfibre stuff I've already bought :rolleyes: I've got very dry hands as it is and I get dermatitis on them, I wear gloves for all cleaning and even when I wash my hair some times along with preparing food.... so playing with microfiber will be a disaster for me and bubs by the sounds of it.
poopie I like you idea so covering them some how... Maybe I will get some fabric and cover the boosters I have for the pocket nappies, gosh I must have like 30 of them and I can also just fold the eenee flats into rectangles and put a cover on them so they are more like boosters... It sounds like a mission though as I dont' own a sewing machine but I guess if I buy one now I will use it more down the track. I have noticed that the microfibre kind of 'sticks' to other fabric though, so what do you recommed to cover it with that will not only allow the microfibre to glid nicely under it but also be nice against bubs bottom :)
Cherished - If I were you I would actually be sending the company an email just to say that you feel that you have been mislead by their product, as you have now heard that microfibre against skin is a big no - no. Hopefully they will reimburse you in some way and stop selling this microfibre as flats - if you don't say something then the next person is just going to be taken for the same ride.
