Cloth Nappies #185

Kate - I have 4 wetbags (it's good to rotate) if you are going to do cloth FT I'd say 3 is a good number, if you go out for a few days in a row and poo just happens to get on the inside of the bag you are covered KWIM? Not that this has ever happened to me, but it could. I like wetbags with a zip so that odours are contained. As for sun just give them as much as you can, even if they are near the window, as Raven taught me it's actually the UV that gets the stains out. Night nappies - try a kissaluv with a prefold on the ourside of the kissaluv, just tucked into a wool cover. Should work a treat :)

newborn poos - we used cloth from day one with Laa and because I was so sick hubby didn't actually little squirt the tar poo off - low and behold it dried, but you knwo what?! This was actually good, wiped it off with toilet paper and it was out, including stains, in just one wash. So my tip is to leave those ones to dry rather than wetting them with the LS ;)

prefolds - I will be using the booroi size 1 prefolds. This and kissaluvs/swaddlebees NB and hopefully some more beetlebum NB's for when we are out!

Kate I have found the planetwise wetbags really good.....funky prints too! I have two in rotation for the nappy bag.

hehehe...i know the feeling Kate...just spent a heap of money at baby beehinds as they are having a stock clearance sale this week...some good bargains to be had....apparently they need to make room for new stock on the way. Just picked up some of the new night nappies and the petite in alls to try out....now Mr. C is starting to sleep thorugh from 10pm to 6am he is weeting through.....night nappies here we come!

Also we no longer have a nappy bucket as such...I got a large hanging planetwise wet/dry bag a few weeks back and OMG it is awesome....hangs on the back of the door handle and would easily take 20plus nappies (not that ours ever gets that full as I wash everyday).....because it zips up we no longer have any smells anywhere......fantastic in my books. i am just about to buy a second one off an ebay seller so I can have two in rotation as the Australian seller has temporarily closed to upgrade her website. Note this is not the wet/dry bag at DDU but another model again......highly recommend them!

Oh Oh - after reading this thread I have just hopped on the Baby Beehinds site and going to place an order...........I love MCN's and my baby isn't even here yet!

Yay! Hopefully thats my last of the fluff mail.. for dh's sake. I have crammed them in to the shelves. And I'm putting my terry flats & boosters somewhere else.

Nappy Stash

Hey, hopefully someone in here can offer some suggestions. We got some staining on some of our nappies and just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get rid of it? Don't suggest Sunlight though - I live in Melbourne and the sun has gone!! Plus also some of them have had the sunlight treatment with no luck. It is poo stains, but what exactly caused the staining I have no idea - not panadol, DS hates the stuff!!

I have tried strip washing too. They look and smell cleaner, but the stains remain!!

Poopie!! I showed my DH your stash and now he thinks mine is not too full on! Love it!

Poopie, can I show that pic to DH - he thinks I have too many nappies (plus I keep saying "that's it, I won't buy any more nappies" :p ) I'm going to a baby & kid's market tomorrow, may have to be strong to resist if there's any fluff there, plus its my b'day and if you can't buy things you want on your b'day, when can you?

On the subject of wet bags, how often do you wash them if there hasn't been exposed poo? I've got 2 GK bags and have been washing every time if we've been out for more than a couple of hrs, but I'm worried I'll damage the lining washing too much.

Not exactly nappy related, but how often do you move across snaps? I've been doing up the same snaps on my itti-bittis (med) & BBH (sm) for the last 4 mths. He's putting on weight (I think), but his waist doesn't seem to be getting any bigger! Its possible I was doing them up too loose to begin with, but they weren't noticibly loose then or overtight now.

WOIB: Zappy (which doesn't fit too well) & medium Mother-eze cover.

Poopie! DP would flip if i needed a bookcase devoted to fluff!

Mummy Tummy- I had a nasty stain like that! I just hung it out for about 4 days and I was in Melbourne at the time.

Snowy- I usually just rinse the wet bag under the tap and wash it say once a week. Turn it inside out, rinse, hang out to dry. Fresh air does the most. I just found the pee smell was a tad whiffy if i didn't rinse.
DD was on the same snaps for about 5 months. she was growing in length and having healthy weight gains. Just found around her hips was scrawny and the nappies seemed to line up under her pot belly.

On the fluff front....... DD's cold has been giving her nasty poo! poor pixie is so congested!

WOCB: um............... Black minky all days Abby gro. DD picked it out!

A bookshelf for fluff! Now there's an idea...

As an addiction, it's not so bad. I tell my DH "It could be heroin..."

hehehe my poor DF is in denial about the fact that we will actually be using MCN rather than sposies....despite the cost difference in the long run!

lol, I just make sure I say stuff like "if I order 6 I get 10% off" and "ooooooooooo, 8% off" and he lets me buy :p I do make sure I'm sensible though!

WOCB: Nothing, bath time and daddy looks after her so I don't go mad after 15 hours straight DD time........
