Purple is girly? My sister is having a boy and has purple garments. I thought it was unisex. I see purple on boys all the time.
Hmmmmm, i really need fluffy mail! I wonder when wrigglebots is getting more stock in so I can make a custom order.
The mothers at my playgroup all use sposies so I am quite disappointed there is no other fluff addicts there.
WOCB: Raspberry Sorbet Abby Gro Minky all days.
all teh ladies i work with are old, so no cloth lovers there either...
uim trying to convernt a few people hubby works with and actually most of them use cloth :d so lots of cloth talk at his work things lol
 dont forgot to share a pic chicky. I can knit...a scarfe but thats about it....give me fabric and a sewing machine and can just about do anything. What kind of soakers did you make hon? was it a certain pattern?
how big are the inserts teresa? I think that makes great sense, would be nice and absorbent. How would you go about closing them off? pins? I would be worried aobut using a snappi on it as its there is no loop as such on bamboo and might pull the threads out thats all.
Ive used BBH fittedf rom when mini me was born and we're still using them...almost 4 years on. Only problem we have is that the elastic is out stretched and has to be redone. I dont know if the elestic would do brittle as such as most nappies are made with swim elastic. id be more worried about people using cheap elastic in their products. This is going to sound stupid but Ive got undies sitting from about 3 years ago that my fat arse dont fit into and the elastic is still fine.
I hope that helps
thats really cheap, especially seeing their not in them for that long.
Lime babe - Im so happy to see you back in here...for all the right reasons :D
WOMB - Micheal Miller skulls auriel
WOVB - my foot if she doesnt stop signing so loudly
I thought it looked like a bargain maz, am hoping to get 3 covers and a peapod AIO (all small) for $28, works out $7 each! AND she lives near by so hopefully i can pick them up!
ur telling me! i think i'll just have to get someone to buy some "girly" stuff and say, it was a gift, we have to use it!
am about to order some more fabrics, (when i get around to it) to have another couple of goes at making AI2. just wish my overlocker would come home from the service people sometime this century...they are waiting on parts and its all in pieces at the workshop atm :( ive got a growing pile of stuff waiting on its return... but they said today it'll be 1-2weeks before i can pick it up....
cmarf - my overlocker is all good! It's sitting there waiting for ME to stop feeling like I'm about to spew all over it so I can hop to and make some prefolds. And maaaybe some fitteds. I've done a couple, first two were ruuuuubbish, but I'm pretty happy with my 3rd one. And it has a Triple J logo on it :D Gotta love that.
Purple is SO not girly! I have a purple auriel and a pink IB in my stash (yes, Ammaki, it is quite extensive for only 14 weeks!) and both will be used - boy or girl! I especially reckon purple with a black singlet and some flaming baby legs, and he'd still be more conservatively dressed than half my neighbourhood!
maz - I use the tinybirds pattern, nice and easy. Although my small soaker looks massive, more like a medium. The longies are the tinybirds pattern as well, but I have sort of tweaked it a little bit because the bum bit didn't look big enough to me to fit a NN underneath. So they're wonky as, but I am still so proud. They're all teal, because I got 10 balls of teal wool for $20. It was that or lilac, and I wanted to go a bit more gender neutral than that.
Must not order fabrics until I've gone through what I've got. Which is a LOT of minky, a little PUL, a fair whack of flanno and probably not enough bamboo.
Olive is selling some covers here that might work for you:

thanks hun i'll take a look :)
Wow I haven't stepped in here for ages!! Hello to all the new faces :D
not much happenin in this cloth house, DD2 is in mediums well and truly (sob) and DS is toilet trained, and DD1 is currently in sposies because we think the cloth is causing her rashes that we can't get rid of. So unfortunately it might be sposies until she toilet trains, so sick of the rashes.....
WOAB: undies :p
WOMB: sposie
WOEB: WW :D
What did you try Mel?
The only thing we didn't try was raw silk liners. But we've tried all different sorts of liners, fabrics, nappies - and nearly all of them give her welts on her legs straight away, even if they are done quite loose. So we've tried all the nappy rash creams, nappy free time, changing every hour, sposies of a night time - nothing gets rid of the rash unless we put her in sposies.
Over it.
Talk to your Dr about Elidel, it is an excema cream and about the only thing that has helped Em's flareups so far (the dermatologist put her on it) It has no steroids and rubs in fully. When she is mild we use calmoseptine and a liner.
Ah Mel that sux! Poor little bottom :(
Do you want some raw silk liners? I bought them and never used them on Charlotte, she just used them as rugs for her teddies rofl...but they are sitting here doing nothing now if you want to see if they help...
I have managed to restrain myself so far, bit too early to go off on spending sprees lol but having fun looking around the stores again :)
WOCB: Undies lol
ETA: ooh I lie! lol I did sneak a prefold and some breast pads form MAL the other day! totally forgot  It begins already!
i haven't been around much either - too busy with life in general i think! haven't done much in the way of buying til this past two weeks - i figured i'd been such a good mummy since DD's birth and hadnt' bought too much (OK, so i bought some MAL covers and night naps, but not much!) - anyway, last week i snapped up a couple of CGR's from a cancelled order (mermaid and princess), and a bonnibuns nappy (denim with kinda hippy word "LOVE" on the back), then there were some more CGR's (cupcakes and owls) and today i seen on FB a new store Bumcheeks so what the hell - they have gorgeous jeans nappies (denim with contrast stitching to look like jeans and then "feature" material on the pockets and around the waist like a belt) - i showed DH and he told me to order 2! oops! DD is in mediums and larges in everything now (well, everything that isn't OSFM) - i'm sitting here wondering if i hold onto our stash or cull - i really don't know if we'll have another and not sure if it's better to hold onto them (we probably wouldn't be able to afford much if we have another) or get rid of it all on the assumption we won't, and then just get what we need if another comes along... too hard!!
WOEB - Tigerprint iishfly OSFM
WO the floor - the three new nappies that have arrived - apparently E knows they're hers and wont part with them!
Funny you mention that mel.
Dd2 has a bad rash on her bum.
but it only seems to happen with oen brand of nappies, well that one brand flares it up.
we are trying hydrozole at the moment to see if it helps as they aren't welts but are more like fungal :(
DD1 is just egtting over fungal/ staph infection, so we are hoping its just that..
i hope she is allergic to cloth :(:(
WOMB: cute tushie pink paisly with a night booster i made
WOTB: one of my creations. in teh fairy punk skull with a night booster
I am still here too :) Just lurking more than posting.
I have discovered the pocket love - that's my only news really. They are just so much easier in winter, the shells dry so quickly and the boosters.... well, that is another story, but at least trifolds can go into the dryer easily.
WOHB - nadda - in the bath with daddy
well im only 20 weeks 2moro and i only have a couple of maz covers to get and maybe night naps in the near future maybe some more wipes and liners and im finished so far i have about 30 prefolds and 6 covers and a BBH petite in green with an extra booster if i like those i might get some more
WOJB: BBH night nap and maz cover cant remember which one
I am awake feeding my baby, don't ya love that quiet time in the middle of the night feeding? Well sometimes it can't be tough but I love that peace!!
WOZB - Motherease pull up - fantastic for bedwetters.
WOJB - Nighttrained - Yeh!
WODB - BBH night nap
WOSB - Swaddlbee with extra booster
Wo - my -B - Satin boxers!!!
far out halltribe thats a lot a nappies to have in use at one time!!
i bet ur stash is massive!!! how often do u do washing superwoman?
Mel - what are the boosters made from? I cant use micro fibre ones at all on tank even with liners..pussy balls are there in a flash :( could the PUL be effecting her? Poor little poppit :(
BG - I am SO IN LOVE with denim nappies...they are gorgoeus. PMSL at E...see they know, how did the cover go on her birthday? did it match the dress?
J - OMG when did you get to 20 weeks???!!!! you'd better get started soon cause the next 20 weeks will buzz past just as quick
 halltribe...satin boxers hey ;) hahahahahah that made my morning
Ammarki - ahhh plenty of time...oh wait :o your 33 weeks..best get to it woman
Lime baby - You know I have this little thing in my head that I have to make you now :p in honour of your username :D

WOHB - choc with pink dots sugarshot pocket
I'm looking for some really "girly" nappies for Miss M, can anyone point me in the right direction?
WOMB: itti bitti brites, sweetheart
molly - I saw the sustanable hemp products had some gorgeous beatrix potter nappies up that were very girly. You could always contact one of the wahm's and get a custom order. What's your nappy poison ;)
ohhhh Kitten...NB kissa's ahhh I remember them :(
was gorgeous Maz! was a bit chilly though so she didn't get much time to flash it around - am sure it will get flashed more as the weather warms up. the color was almost perfect with the lining of the skirt and jacket - just divine
Widdlewuns have a couple of custom spots available at the moment - gorgeous nappies (have been having a love for them since DD was only a couple of weeks old!) - you can pick either "funky" material or minky with custom embroidery - a 3 pack may have just fallen into the shopping cart last night...
WOEB - NFI - Daddy changed her this morning and let mummy sleep in. she is in bed atm, and when she wakes, we're heading to the PO/park for a bit of outside play time.
I have my first brand new Cgr coming its a yellow caterpillar - sooo cute. I have a few used ones but my first new one - my DH said it s OK as it will be Ok for my boy then my girl later on.
I have trained my older girls on how to put the nappies back together after they have been washed and they are quite up with the play on how they all work.
I have to brag on my wonderful man who never baulks at changing even the pooiest bum!!!
thanks Maz and BG.
I am very partial to AIO's/2's. I have a few fitted's but love the quick nappy changes from an AIO, I also do FDC, so am known to have 3 or 4 in nappies at any one time. I have corrupted one of my parents and she is now using MCN's as well, but the others are still on sposies. It's often like a production line around here. It doesn't worry me if they're sized or OSFM. I have a few from sustainable hemp products but tend not to use them often as they need covers. I'll have to do a bit more "window" shopping and see what I can find. (glad it's rest time for the day care kids)
uh...how many prefolds should i have? :o
i have a white WAHM with carebear applique on its way :) i cant wait its sooo cute!! also some lushies and a bummis cover...
i have decided that i need to track down a Very Hungry Catapiller and a just hatched sometime soon, i swear they were almost edible! LOL ...saw some for sale on Nappy addict but wasnt quick enough!
mollycat- i think we will end up mostly doing AIO/AI2 as well, DF just about fell off his chair when i told him we were doing cloth!! told me to keep a stash of sposies for when he has to change him, hahah fat chance of that!!
cmarfol - my NB stash for this baby will be
10 Kissaluvs fitteds
5 swaddlesbees fitteds
6 maz prefolds
6 booroi prefolds
6 widdlewuns (smalls)
2 beetlebum ai2's (fingers crossed I can make this 6 before baby comes)
even though I used cloth from day one with laa I am still unsure as to how many covers I will need.......
Molly - go check out genase forge hon...she makes the most delicious AIo's and 2's...oh and Kitten has a girl DFM for sale in the classifieds still...DFM are friggen awesome!!!!
cmarfol - id say 24. that way if they all dont dry in time you'll have back up ;) and theirnot wasted...make great pocket stuffers downt he track or for night time extra boosting
BG - I am so glad that the colouring matched up phew.
Hall - we couldnt use CGR's here. They are the most gorgeous nappies but the fit on tank was impossible :(. I had a VHC one in red..but not every nappy is for every child.
WOMB - goriila int he mist auriel
It's been aaaaaaages since I was in here last  But I want to run a quick checklist of nappies I have for bub, and make sure I have enough! You'd think with already having had 2 in cloth before I'd know what I'm doing :wall:
So, for bub I have:
15 small AIO's
22 BBH bamboo fitted (this is also shared with DD2, but she might, well hopefully, tt soon)
9 small covers
4 medium covers
9 medium AIO's
so, how am I going? What would you girls suggest?? I know I don't have any newborn, so fingers crossed this bub doesn't come early then I won't need any. DD2 went straight into smalls, so I kinda hoping this one will too.
Thanks!
ohhhhh i love little girls nappies... sooon cute..
im a AI2 girl, love my snap ins so much quicker to dry up here in teh never neve land in the mountains lol
whats a DFM??? im confused..
WOMB: teal itti bitti, as we are doing 2nd hourly chanegs for her nappy rash :(
DFM = Dragonfly Magik.......... one of the very few brands of AI2 that I would recommend ;) As would most who have used them!
Jodi - HEY!!! umm I think a few more wouldnt go astray, maybe some prefolds?
hmmm soooo tempted by that DFM... soooo sooo tempted!
wow jodi! i would hav thought that was a lot..
hmm mine looks like this (including the ones on their way):
10 AIO/AI2
7 prefolds
4 fitteds
4 covers
3 pockets that are too big atm
3 fitteds that are too big atm
2 AIO that are too big atm
1 homemade AI2 that was MEANT to be a small according to the pattern but is the same size as the AIO mediums...
hmm DFM ey? and wat do people say about GF and angeltears? they look sooo cute from peoples pics ive seen.
i like the idea of AI2 as well, our clothesline is void so things tend to get dried inside or on the verandah...so far the AIO and bamboo boosters have taken up to 3 days to dry when i was prewashing them!!!
in the early days laa could go through anything up to 20 nappies a day - was usually around 12 but I want to make sure that I have enough, just incase....... she was a poo farter, every nappy was a change because of a tiny bit of a poo fart... which is apparently rather common with BF bubs :)
GF are also awesome, I have not tried AT but have heard great things about them from someone who I know is just as nappy fussy as me :)
WOHB - hot pink sugarsot pocket
20 changes!! :o wow ok well i might get back to stocking up ey!!!
