LOL Maz I think you stole our standard weather. Mine usually dry in about 45 mins to an hour. this stupid rain has turned us into the Thailand humidity equivalant.:
I wait until my nappy bucket is full. It's just a standard nappy bucket and it takes up half of the washing machine when full. I'd wait longer but DD wees so much and has nasty wee smell with this teething. I like a bit of extra water to cycle around the load too.

lol maz....i have a washing basket or a nappy pail with Jacks rinsed off nappies and clothes....usually every 2nd/3rd day i wash....when there is enough for a decent load...no weent loads getting washed here....

Still no poo and the poor darling is miserable! Have tried all my best poo-magnet nappies, heaps of nappy-off time, including a few good chances to cover me in it, and she has passed up every opportunity!

One was posted to me on the 20th dec but as the postie said the other day, our local PO has a backlog of parcels. That and stuff takes 3 years to get here from anywhere on east coast.:

ETA: Had an epic fail with my washing machine while we were out. The outlet hose was blocked and cycle stopped mid run so my nappies were in poo smelling water for 2 hours. Serviced machine (grrr DP's long/think hair blocking filter) and decided to do a wash with ecostore to see how it went. Wash is about to finish after super long cycle so I'll see results when I hang them out.
I found a new use for a tri fold too. DD had eaten something wrong I think and power chucked tonight. I was about to stuff a BBH nappy with a trifold and caught the vomit mid-stream in the trifold! AWESOME effort for someone who once knocked a teacher out who was standing 3 metres away from the hoop in netball at school :rofl: I guess being a mother really does improve reflexes!

I bought the eco store powder & whitener yesterday. Will do a wash soon, just not sure what to use. I think I might do a cold soak wash with the whitener. Soaks in my mashine for about an hour.
I'm so worried about DD's eczema flaring up, but hopefully with the eco store it won't. I guess at least then I'll know, huh.
But there's no sun (AGAIN) to hang them out in :( So freakin over the clouds & rain!!
Anyone else have cotton velour inside any of their nappies? Have you notices the velour really likes to hold onto stains? Most of the others are pretty good after a wash, with minimal yellowing, but the swaddlebees hold onto it like nothing else! Comes out in the sun no worries though (when there is sun!!)
Missy crashed early in an itti last night. It lasted til about 5am. Could've been worse I guess, lol.
Oh & she slept in her poo. Poor bugger is a bit red now :( Suprised me coz out of all my kids she's the first to kick up a stink the second she's finished. With my other 3 they'd happily sit in it til I realised. She will not!

I told DP why I was getting them Clover. He didn't bat an eyelid at me. I really have issues with the plastic ingredients though and every month would be painful with disposable pads on. I am the same with BPs so will be ordering some of those soon too!
DD had a restless night last night but I GOT A SLEEP IN! DD has actually stopped stressing so much when I'm out of the the room, she let her father get her up today. DP also changed her bum :D

Yeah, now I've used the BP's I can see the benefits. I ran out of cloth & used throw away ones & they drove me nuts! I couldn't stop scratching.
I was given a full box & I still have them, almost full still. I used a few in hossy & kept some in my nappy bag... they're still in my nappy bag :lol:

How did you go with the ecostore, ladies?
I've heard of people using the soaker to soak... What exactly do you soak? Will it affect the PUL or elastic you think? Haven't tried it yet mind you all Ds nappies aren't stained yet.
WOJB Bumsup pocket. Gonna get a few more. Theyre DH friendly providing I maker sure I stiff them first.. Otherwise they go on with no insert XD
If I do a soak Helle it's just the inserts and boosters. No need to soak shells because mine don't get all stained. I haven't tried eco store soak but I used the RG and it definately got a heap of gunk out. I usually just pause front loader when it's full and leave for a few hours. I only really do it if DD has had foods that stain her nappies like tumeric in a bolognese etc.
The ecostore powder brought my nappies up quite nice and no smell. I still like RG though. I'll see if they make the boosters crispy when they finish drying. I will still use the rest of the RG though

Hey Maz, I asked Christie if she would make some night nappies for me, with bamboo velour inners, and she's making them into pockets for me for my pee machines. So hopefully (fingers crossed) I can get the girls back into cloth of a night time before we become broke next year.

Helle, I don't think it would affect the PUL/elastic, but thats why I'll be doing mine cold & not leaving them for too long.
I think there's a thread in the discussion tab on fb about that? Maybe not, I have seen people post on the wall about soaking though.

LOL! I managed to get into my OB yesterday. That process was a whole other thread which I posted last night. I even got a snapshot of the bubs in there. I'm trying to think of a unisex lolly based nickname. DD was jellybean and she still gets called it so can't use for second one baking.:
DD walked up to me smelling suspiciously and said "dad,dad boo" Which means she brewed a special present for DP :rofl: He's about to change the gag worthy nappy so I might conveniently leave the room (edit: we ran out of disposable wipes and he can't clean her up with face washers....) At least she's better today and the vomit seems to be a one off

no nappy news here, im on a ban til feb at least.
ive been REALLY slack with washing so we have had a few leaks using our last resort nappies..also helped by the fact that DF has been on hols so has been changing the majority of nappies...it will be a nasty shock on monday when hes back at work :(
all this talk of soaking etc, i realised almost all my nappies are stained in some way and i dont think they are coming out of the machine very clean... maybe im doing it wrong?
i have been putting the nappies in the machine (top loader) on maxi wash with about a teaspoon or 2 of biozet and tea tree oil in the fabric softener bit. i havnt ever done a soak or strip wash (not even sure wat that is really). please advise my sleep addled brain how to make my nappies all nice again.

Stains aren't anything to be wary of, or even ashamed of!! My nappies come out stained, but they have washed properly - so please don't think that your nappies aren't getting clean enough. The sun gets rid of stains anyway so as long as they are getting a good sunning, they will be fine.
Oh - and I've read that biozet is not good for nappies - or anything really with a whitening agent.
Currently de-stashing. Just waiting for a friend to have time to go through my piles of nappies then I'll have to list them somewhere. I thought it would be harder to part with some of these nappies, but I'm just at that stage in my de-cluttering that I know they have to go. I've also got boxes of baby girls clothes to get rid of, can't believe how much one little girl has accumulated.

Yup, yup. steer clear of any "brightening agents". Woolies has eco store powder on special too (Helle) not sure if it's as cheap as you can usually get it though. All nappies are bound to get stained. As long as there isn't a funky smell then it should be good.:

When I bought some cheap wahm nappies off ebay, the seller suggested rubbing a bit of lemon oil on stains i think? or was it euculyptus... I haven't needed to find out yet.

It was 6 something Helle. I was going to try it anyway so I just considered it a bonus that it was on special. It brought my nappies up beautifully. It's even attacked the black stains from the brauer's doses a while back.
DD is doing poo central today and my tummy is super queasy so DP has been handling them. I knew there was a reason I bred with that man :p

Guess what? The peapods I have finally fit DD and they are working! We have NEVER been big peapod fans as they have been a funny fit but they now fit DD on the smallest setting. DH likes them because they wash and dry so easily compared to the BBH, itti's etc.
We are going to NZ in a couple of weeks and have decided to use sposies while we are away just for ease. We were really considering doing cloth but then realised we probably can't bring dirty nappies back into the country nor do we really want to - LOL. However, DD sleeps through most nights or wakes once and we don't change her nappy until the morning. Sometimes the BBH night nappy is sooo heavy but we never get any leaks. I'm wondering how the sposie could possibly hold everything overnight. Do you ladies think a PUL cover over the sposie might be worthwhile?
DD has also gone on a poo spree and done 5 in the last couple of days. Must be solids?
I had a win today. My girlfriend is 15 weeks pregnant and I told her I had bought her a cloth nappy because I am giving everyone ONE so that at least they have one nappy that can be reused. She then said that she was pretty interested in using them and her DH piped up and said he didn't care either way!! So she is considering getting her Mum to make some or buying online. So YAY another convert :D
