woohoo for poo!!!
And just as an interesting thing - when DS was a baby we were concerned cos he hadn't pooed for 3 days (formula fed though) so we researched and we read that it wasn't uncommon for babies to go 28 DAYS without a poo if they were breastfed... cos there isn't much waste as they absorb all the nutrients (unlike formula).
Interesting huh?
Finding it so hard to get nappies dry this week.
Same Kate, but luckily despite the rain there's been a bit of wind to help the nappies dry.
i pre wash boosters, same theory applies to anything made of bamboo i assume, the more u wash the mpre absorbant it is.
Woohoo for poos audax!!!
YAY for pooo!!!!! she would need a big sleep after finaly doing one after 12 days was it? wow poor bub!
helle, ill b using terry flats sometime in march! and the flanellett ones.
I use terry flats Helle :)
I love how they look!!
no idea, im the only one i know usding cloth at all, i dont think they would fit on my dd's fat legs n gut. oh i mean tree trunk legs!!
Helle, I started with flats when DS was 13 months old :)
I use flats here most of the time - on DD1 (who is nearly 2.5) and on DD2 (13 months). Sometimes I change the fold of it just to make life interesting....
Yay for poo audax lol
I have thought about getting some flats just for back up but decided against it.
On a different topic I finally ordered some fluff for me! Now just to convince DH we need more fluff for DS!
WOHB - sposie. Haven't got any night nappies yet.

Oh yay! Here I was thinking I was really old fashioned XD
I do the envelope fold on DS. Don't think it'll fit him much longer tho!
I will most likely be using flats for a wee while with new bub. I might need to find a tutorial on youtube how to fold them  What liners do people use? I was thinking the microfleece would work, right? What's the pros of using bamboo prefolds VS terry? Do you have to soak the terry flats? trying to do research prior to purchasing this round. I had so many duds prior to finding DD's stash!
I have to rinse my nappies prior to bucketing them if it's going to be hotter then 30 degrees. I opened the bathroom to put a nappy in the bucket and the ammonia smell made me choke. They'd only been there a few hours but the sun streaming in the windows had magnified the heat! Needless to say I did an emergency nappy wash in case the ammonia killed the elastic.
WOCB: nothing, air drying after a bath. she lets us know if she needs to wee when nappyless now and will go on the potty
i soak my terry's in nappysan overnight and wash them the next morning and refil the nappy bucket in the morning, its actually more work than mcns!
That's why I was considering the bamboo. I know they take longer to dry but I don't like napisan. It burns the hell out of my hands if I even get a very diluted amount on them. I'm thinking unless I manage to have a heffa that the MCNs I have won't fit for a while and DP is really concerned about me forking out for newborns when they will most likely only be used a couple of months. We want to really save a heap of money so we can get back to Vic to live near our families.
There is no need to use Nappisan on any nappies, no matter the fabric.
We used flanny flats here, and they are fabulous.
We did try using liners, not much point though wit a BF NB! lol But microfleece is a cheap easy option for liners.
Google Nappy Folds and you will get tons of info on different folds.
..i don't soak mine :o
i just treat them the same as the MCN's...
i read somewhere that soaking can cause more germs/barteria than dry pailing.
i keep meaning to get some microfleece liners for the pure stay dry fact... needa get onto that. Spotlight should have fleece hey? I was gonna order some online, but the fleece was going to cost be $4 and postage was $8 -.-;
I'm selling some near new nappies if anyone is interested. https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...d.php?t=152342
But Helle, there are tuttos there! I am so evil!
I don't soak flats either. I used them alot when DD was little, they are all I used when in hossy. They are really bulky though, so I did like my bamboo prefolds for that reason, not as bulky.
I still have the prefolds, but don't use them as often & my flats are more for back up, spew catching & nappy free time.
Flats are great to have in weather like we are having at the moment though. They dry so fast!
WOSB - pink dot itti.
I don't soak my flats either, just chuck them in the bucket the same way as MCN's. I do use liners with my flats though, whereas I don't with the MCN's - easier to clean! I use microfleece liners.
Just wondering if anyone has any Cheeky Butts Cloth Nappies and if so how do you rate them? I purchased some from ebay and am curious to know how good or bad they are and any hints to make them better if needed! They were cheap so I'm happy with the purchase price but now I'm curious as to if they will actually work well or not.
How much vinegar and lavender oil do you use as fab softener? Gonna give it a whirl in my next wash to see if it satisfies DH fabric softener addiction!
There was something I read on cheeky butts nappies but now can't remember for the life of me....
not sure helle.just got my bum cheeks nappies, awwwww theyre so cuteand suprisingly not expensive!
WOIB- pink magicall
CBs..wouldn't touch them with a barge pole...unethical lady with nasty business practices....dunno what the nappies are like however....
Helle - don't use vinegar.
But the oil, put about 6 drops in the fabric softener dispenser and top it up with water. I al so just add it straight to the wash at the beginning
Ooh MelBel - sounds intriguing! lol
Oh dear. I don't like supporting people like that but then I purchased them from someone else that had obviolusly purchased them from her. Oh well. They dont look like a great nappy, they look very thin and not water proof but for $14 something for 4 I thought they might be ok even if I need to add an extra booster and cover.
oooh do tell about Mel!! i considered buying some cos of the price...
yay poo!! man she must feel so much better!! we got a poo last night and it wasnt even too bad *phew*
WOCB: dinosaur sewy joey
I've got a couple of bumcheeks christmas ones, they are lovely nappies, had absolutely no leaks with them yet. I'd love to get a couple more, but can't justify buying more til I get rid of some of Miss M's stash,...... hmmmm, that's never stopped me before though.
I'm really loving cloth nappies. I do FDC and my one parent who uses cloth has just gone back to them, yay, 3 days less disposables in my garbage, I really can't stand how much extra garbage they make. Now to just convert the other parents.
WOMB - starbunz puppy
we have the starunz cow, theyre sooo cute!!
so glad to hear the bumcheeks work well for u! cant wait to get them on Iz, and bub when he's here, i got the unicorn and tiger ones
just went and googled CB's, owner sounds like a peice of work!
i'm hearin ya on the bins. over chrissy we forgot to put ours out, so it had two weeks worth of rubbish in it and was only just over half way full... before with sposies we would have had to start piling up bags around it after two weeks XD
Here too Helle. Our recycling bin didn't go out & has only just gone this morning coz it only goes once a f/n!
We have so many boxes & paper all waiting for DH to do a tip run  All the christmas rubbish! Useless DH is driving me nuts!
No fluff for me today :( I think I just went for regular mail for this one, so it could be a while. Might look up the seller, see if she's away from the flood zone...
Was buying stuff from one of the girls affected by the floods, but she's just lost everything. Can't get back to her house, its under water. I don't know if I should contact her about it or not... I won't yet, but not sure if I should at all. Its going to take a long time to recover from all this.
Floods are sposed to be heading our way... fabulous!
