Congrats crystal on being all clothed up! I have used soap nuts, they work pretty well, although I have heard stories about staining? Never seen it myself, so right now I use a soap nut powder-borax-washing soda-water mix in place of detergent to wash most things. I'm a bit of an alchemist in the laundry, really, and haven't had any problems yet.
DD is constipated. We had tears today, big ones, over a poo that had been threatening to come out for over 24 hours. I just don't know what to do about it. If only the answer were "buy more nappies"

I am goibg to perth on sat for 9 days and luckily we hired a house so will have washing machine! Yay!!!! Will be in full time cloth while over there. I counted my stash today abd i think i have 66 nappies and 9 covers. But i could have missed one or two. Selling 3 bbh fitteds tho cause i have like 8 fitteds, 3 gnst an 5 boos... Plus my pop in night boosters (5) so have plenty of night stuff!!

We're doing the Coloxyl thing for the pluggage :( The doc was really good about it though, and it's just temporary. We had tried everything else. Itcontains sorbic acid, which I assume is the same as sorbitol, so no pretties for a few more days :( Booooo (although I love my terry flats)

We're still sick here although Pixie is rather energetic (much to my disgust because I'm on 8 hoursish of broken sleep in 4 nights). No more accidents in her "unders" and only wearing nappies for naps and night or if we're going out for a long period of time because the lack of public toilets here is atrocious! I have so many dud elastic nappies and spare bamboo boosters that I am contemplating attempting some training pants. The dud elastic nappies aren't worth getting the elastic replaced so if I screw them up then it's no biggie. If anything it'll be worth the giggle trying to get my belly behind the sewing machine :lol:

so i did a strip wash on my nappies and used them and they have gone back to being really smelly again :( i am thinking i didnt use enough dishwashing detergent and maybe need to use more. what i would really love is some sun but thats not going to happen for awhile. anyone got any other suggestions?

I have a front loader and found I had to use much more than the 2 or 3 drops recommended. I never even saw one sud the first time!:
i use a massive squirt of dishwashing liquid and i only see suds on the first wash/rinse second rinse the suds are gone
i have just started using canesten rinse and im finding all my nappies are coming out really soft i love it and jazzys rash has cleared up so it must have been something nasty in the nappies
i have a full blown DM obsession and its all ur fault mel we have 2 on the way which will make 9 in total not including the dog attacked one but i neeed moooorrrreeeee lol but my other favs for jazz are GK's and we are trying issys as soon as they get here

Going good with my cloth. Had a day of mainly terry's as my mcn's were washing and needed a nice rinse and long hot wash and sun. The terry's definitely leak more so it's nice to have my mcn's back.
Bubs nappy rash has virtually gone thanks to moogoo and a bit of airing so i'm glad i didn't fork out for the silk liners.
I go back to work in 3 weeks part time so need to get DH and grandma's up to speed on the cloth eeek!!!! I think i'll just tell the grandmas to use terry's if they want cause they are used to them :
I went and brought something off the lady from that Cherry Blossom Surprise yesterday and she said that she is starting to destash cause she wants to start toilet training in the next year and she has over 200 nappies!!! yes you heard right 200. She showed me this beautiful custom from Charli Rose and OMG it was so gorgeous! This is for 1 child mind you. i was gobsmacked lol
I got some PUL to make wet bags. Some for me and some for my business. I make and sell nappy wallets so thought now that i use cloth full time i should make some pretty wet bags too.

I think the best nappy for husbands is something as close to a sposie as possible, so a pocket with Velcro. Like an issy bear :)
I need to find some canestin rinse. What does the bottle look like? What point of the wash do you use it? Do you still put your regular washing liquid in too?

Best dad proof nappies I reckon are Bubblebubs. Pockets are good, but my DH gets out of folding/snapping/stuffing by saying he doesn't know what goes with what. With Bubblebubs, the issue is eliminated, they are velcro, and pretty darn cute too. My mum's been staying a week, I offered her the terry flats, but she likes my AbbbyGro and BBF the best :D We did have an argument about the difference between cone fold and kite fold though :lol:
Strip washing - amount of detergent will depend on water hardness. So we Briswegians need more than Melburninanes, and Adelaidians needs more again. I used hand soap last time, it was good.

hmmm, I think the cone fold looks like it has more layers of absorbancy. Kite fold would be awesome for a wiggly child maybe? easier to get tighter and avoid gussets opening?:

does anyone have greenkids pockets? i bought some and they seem kind of stiff and make a crunchy crinkly sound? is this normal? or do they just need to be washed a few time to lose the stiffness?
are they the funtimes then yes they are like that nothing u can do they still work really well for us here the anytimes are a better
Audax are bubblebubs AIO? That would be better again! My dh wouldn't stuff the pockets in the issys, it would have to be done for him.

Yep, Bubblebubs are AIO. The inner flap is sewn in. It means the elastics wear out faster than other nappies, but the price is good, and I sew, so I don't really mind!
Not just GKs that are a bit rattly sounding. Any poly PUL pockets seem to do it, my Bonnibuns do too. Doesn't affect them though.

FLUFFY MAIL! Well sort of... I got training pants for Pixie from Bums Up. They look pretty awesome and I'll most likely try them out tomorrow after they dry. I also got 3 new wet bags so I can have separate bags for a couple of changes of clothes/undies and any stuff she had an accident on. I'm going to head into town this arvo on foot so hoping no accidents while we're out. I've already planned my route to include 2 toilet stops for DD (and I'll need one at least too I think). I also found a new use for Maz prefolds. They're so absorbant that I've folded them up under Pixie's bottom in her car seat in case she has an accident en route to somewhere. She had one the other day while waiting in the car with her dad because I got caught in the shop a bit longer than anticipated. The seat was dry under the prefold though! I think I'm going to design a more permanant solution with a waterproof backing soon so I'll see how I go. I have washed a total of 3 nappies over 2 days because Pixie didn't wee during her nap yesterday. She's been waking up and asking to go to the toilet!
