the way i see it nappies are an investment and you can easily resell them if you buy reputable brands. maybe just try a couple of brands and see what you like and sell on any you don't like. or get a couple of different covers eg a fleece cover and seeing if you have more success.

I did a stripwash with a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and it took about 3 washes to get it non bubbly. Used earth choise washing liquid and they came up gorgeous. i don't do over 60 degrees water temp with PUL either.
The way i see it is buy say 2 nappies of what brands you like when they're on special and try them. the ones you don't like can be sold on as EUC or tried once. it's better than basically burning money every nappy change.

Yeah, front loaders bubble more than a top loader so that's why they need less detergent.

Quick pop in here before I take my exhausted pregnant self off to bed...
I'm leary to buy a few to try as I have not had good luck with reselling even the good quality brands in the past.
I was lucky to get $1 or $2 for nappies I spent $10+ on so a bit discouraged in that respect.
There is a brand in the states I could try that looks good but just the trial package is $80 and then the entire system meant for newborn to potty train is about $500 and considering $80 is nearly a week of groceries for my family and $500 is a little over a weeks worth of rent I am leary... hubby had MAJOR abdominal surgery in March and we are still recovering financially as he works for himself so spending big amounts of money is hard and nerve-racking.
My best friend REALLY wants to throw me a baby shower though even though this is 3rd baby for us so maybe since we don't NEED anything for this baby I could suggest money towards a nappy system???
Not sure...
BUT at any rate I will try the strip wash with Earth Choice dishwashing liquid as that is what I use, and see how we go!!

I had good results with earth choice dishwashing liquid.
You could always try purchasing only second hand nappies to save money and give them a dettol or canestan laundry rinse. Another thing is what nappy creams are you using with your MCNs? That could also be your issue

Anyone get anything in Firefly? There wasn't anything i particularly loved compared to last month but still gorgeous. Zoo baby had some stunning naps in their stocking. I won a custom in a charity auction last night for $36. Not sure what i will get yet.
speaking of auctions i can't believe that tinkerbell nappy on the Fe Fi Fo Bum fb page got to $140 for 1 nappy and that was a personal auction.

I have a serious moral issue with those auctions that are solely to profit the nappy maker. Set a price and do random.org for petes sake. It's just taking advantage of frenzied nappy fans.
Charity auctions on the other hand are fab. I was so tempted by alot of stuff in the collaboration for a cause auctions! I plan to make something for a day for Daniel auction

Quick Q for you all. Someone I know has unfortunately soaked MCNs in napisan (no, not me, I won't have that stuff in the house). Would a strip wash remedy the damage to the boosters and restore absorbancy? It was a whole NB stash they got second hand. They were petrified there were nasties in them after reading of someone who's child got thrush from a second hand nappy.
We're still OSFMing it on the little dude but they're way too oversized on him really. even the flanny flats almost tip him on his head because they're so bulky. He's long and lean just like his sister was and still is. Also back to MSN creaming him to clean his backside again. seems he's had a growth spurt and his reflux medication is no longer adequate so the acid poo is back. Pixie is still TTed despite the littlest one coming along. she had 2-3 days where she was saying she needed to go and then promptly weeing where she stood but she had really exhausting days prior to the bad patch so maybe it was a once off.

In another thread Peanutter said she regularly uses Napisan and hasn't had any probs. Has it actually done any damage (bleaching or looking fragile) or are you just concerned that it has. I wouldn't worry about a once off too much, give em a strip wash and see how they go.

Hey ladies, does anyone know where I could get a massive wash bag from (like the mesh wash bags you put your bras and things in...) I want one for DS nappies. The smaller inserts for the tuttos always get stuck in the seal of my washing machine and I'm getting a bit over having to poke them back in and rewash!
I could probably separate them and wash on a smaller one I have but it seems so much more logical and easier to get a giant one and just put everything in there XD I'm laaaazy.
