A friend of mine has, but used a cloth liner (made from an old pillow case) which she washed.separately to the nappies just to be safe

Coconut oil is supposed to be okay, was my understanding. A lot of the women in a facebook group I'm in use it and say it's fine.

Seeing I'm just jumping in here... Just want to say. I love cloth nappies a lot.

I'm a little late replying Jen but in warmer months I actually use coconut oil as a bum wipe and it washes out easily. No absorption issues at all.

Thanks Ladylove. It's only on her night nappy anyway, as we're toilet training. She's got a steel bladder, so it's a slow process because she hardly ever needs to go! But already enjoying the dip in my washing loads. Two in MCNs for nine mths has not been fun.

If I don't go bonkers getting her to use the toilet it'll be even better!

Jen thought of you and your two in cloth/one being TT as we've only just started TT DD1. Mainly because she is not even three but has outgrown all her cloth and now only just fits into her large IttiBitti. She is not big but tall so all her nappies were sitting too low on the hip for the snaps to close comfortably.

Hi everyone,

We have just started using cloth nappies, for my DD at night. She is 7, so it's hard to find something to fit & that is absorbent enough, whilst we wait to get into the incontinence clinic at the RCH. I got from a friend 10 pocket nappies (OSFA) and 20 inserts, but I don't even know what the inserts are made from. We put 2 inserts in at night (lucky she is skinny so it just does up, but I might make a little extender bit for each side to make it a bit more comfy), but she still wets through every 2nd night or so. I can sew, so I wanted to make my own inserts, but I have no idea what material to use (which is the most absorbent - microfibre, hemp or bamboo)? Secondly, where can I buy it from? Most online shops are shut at the moment, so I am hoping I can pick some up from a store. She doesn't fit into regular nappies anymore, and the ones that I can buy (small adult size nappies) are really $$$.

Anyone know where I can head to, or some general advice?

Hey Yael, long time no see!

You'll want some bamboo fleece. I'm remote so I have no idea if real life shops sell it but I have bought some from Snaps Australia in the past. It was the best price for the best quality at the time.

I had the same sort of issues with my eldest dd, only she's a much larger than life child and just didn't fit anything 😒 thankfully though our continence clinic isn't as chockas as in the city and we got lucky.

Really hope you guys find a comfy solution. Poor kid. We totally get it here.

Eta I just had a look and they appear to be operating as normal.

Thanks Ladylove, for your thoughts last month. DD2 is still a very slow learner when it comes to TTing. She holds on forever but prefers to take herself to the toilet and rarely makes it. She appears to be going okay at preschool. Our nanny is also not having much luck. Nap times we've gone nappy free as she was just holding on for a nappy. I've put a potty in her room to encourage her to be independent this week. Sooooo over it.

Yael, wombutts make cloth pull-ups in larger sizes. the maker was a bellybelly member/advertiser here, not sure if she still is.

I find hemp fleece the most absorbant for bulk. Micro fleece is very good, too, but much more prone to compression leaks, which is more of a problem with sitting rather than lying down. My favourite boosters atm are 4 layers of hemp fleece and 2 of micro fleece.

I bought from Greenbeans Australia or Fairy Fabrics. You won't find good, nappy-quality fabrics at local fabric retailers like Spotlight.

So...the chick who makes my favourite it's nappies is selling her pattern (eg the business) I'm sad...cause I'm sure the won't be the same, so very tempted to buy it =) but I would have to get embroidery machine etc.. Too, so it's way too much money to outlay, even if I actually had the money

A much bigger business but I was sad to hear IttiBitti go into liquidation and with new owners and also annoyed as I had two limited edition prints on pre-order from October then received a weird mass, cryptic email from new owner that said orders would be fulfilled plus a special gift despite liquidation (that was the first I had heard of the liquidation) ... Then less than two weeks later I get an email notifying me of store credit to the amount of my original order... No explanation, no offer of refund, no apologies that order will not be fulfilled despite promise two weeks ago... I was once a loyal customer snd their communications were great. Now, I want a refund not store credit. Doubt I will get refund if they are in financial strife.
