clare i get my mum to overlock together flannal and sherpa, flannel is soft abd the sherpa grippy for the poos! i also use foamy wipes wash
for those using cloth wipes, have you made your own or did you purchase them already made?
If you made them yourselves, did you just use 2 layers of flannel?
and if you purchased them, where is the best plce to buy from?
Also with wipe solution, make or buy?
Does anyone have any recipes they would like to share?
We are using cloth nappies and have been for years, I tried cloth wipes but only used one layer of flannel and they were a bit flimsy especially after a couple of washes. I have also tried just using baby face wipes but find them a bit rough on the skin after being line dried.
So any help would be appreciated

I cut an old towel up and made them into wipes (overlocked the edges), just the size I wanted. I find that terry great for cleaning bums - its just so effective cause it grabs everything. I did make some wipes that were flannel one side and terry on the other (overlocked together) so I could choose to use the side that suited me but I always found myself using the terry side.
As for solution, right now I just use water with a drop or two of water soluble lavender in it for my toddler. For baby, I will probably do chamomile tea solution.
I have some flanell wipes that Mum made for me - zigzag edged (don't have an overlocker)
Even easier though - if you use stretch knit fabrics they don't fray so don't need edging.
For disposable wipes (when we're away or don't feel like hanging out all those wipes...) - we just cut up old T-shirts, sheets, PJs, etc into small squares - use them and throw them out.
Solutions - water or camomile tea - added oil (olive, grapeseed) helps it glide over his skin - especially with the flannel wipes which can be a little rough![]()

I've made a bunch up with thick terry and flannelette sewn together. I don't have an overlocker so just hemmed them and I'll let the edge fray.
I've heard you should just use water in the early days so we have a spray bottle at the nappy change table to wet the wipes as we use them.
I don't sew (I'm so slack! LOL) We use those cheap packs of facewashers that you can buy from Big W. I think there are about 10 or 12 in a pack for about $7. One side is soft, one side is textured.
We use Bubble Bubs foamy wash. It's great stuff. It comes in different scents. We use "Butterfly hugs" and it smells divine!!!
