How do u keep your nappy bucket from not stinking?

Any tips and tricks? i've thought about airing it outside but theres always nappies in it, have thought about getting a second, but my laundry is very small and crowded as it is.
Have seen a few products online, but everything in australia that ive seen has been sold out.

    Please help, its bad! pmsl

I actually found that if I put the lid on it and not seal it tight that it doesn't smell as bad, as soon as it was sealed tight the ammonia smell was intoxicating!!! Other than that I just wash it out with warm soapy water regularly

the bucket lid, doesnt completely seal like the rubber ones, it has little flaps thatclick down IYKWIM? which is why i bought it.
but yeh that smack u in the face ammonia smell is there!! i wash my nappies every second day so its not as if theres sitting in there for ages.
J i would put it outside but i think the dog might find it a little too interesting!!!

my give it a wash with warm water and see how that goes

skybie, when I was dry pailing I would sprinkle bicarb in the bottom when it was empty afetr rinsing it, also wiping it out with eucalyptus or teatree helps.

now I drop mine straight into water, doesnt smell anywher near as much.

I have actually stopped the problem by swapping out the nappy bucket for one of the really large planetwise wet/dry bags that is made to hang on the door handle....it easily fits as many nappies as a bucket would and zips up sealing all the smells in really well. At the same time it is breathing being PUL so that ammonia smell is kinda evaporating out if that make sense....it is working really well.... Ozbabytrends has them on sale at the moment if anyone is interested......

Also not sure if it is still valid but the coupon code MEGACINO gets you an extra discount as well

I use a wetbag in my bucket and on the inside of the lid I put in citrus circles which I bought from ozbabytrends (.com.au) I replace the circles probably weekly and also use them in my rubbish bin too! Oh and I only put the lid on overnight (because the dog resides in our bathroom overnight lol)
