How much have you spent on cloth?

im curious if the websites are about right, about the saving u make on buying cloth..... so if ya don't mind me asking...how much have you spent on cloth nappies and covers in total for 1 child or more please state if for more than one child or for how many months so far you been using.

do you use your dryer to dry them at all? occasionally, all the time, sometimes, NEVER?

I've lost track between buying and selling and having 2 in cloth now but it's probably around $1500. That also includes fabric to make nappies of which I can make them when the urge takes me. So the money has been spent already and I can keep making and probably don't "need" to but any more for Ruby. (That's not to say I won't IYKWIM lol).

We've been in full time cloth (besides the odd break or two) for coming up to 3 years. Caleb will be 3 in August and Ruby is just on 8 months.

My DS #1 didn't TT till he was 3.5 and was full time sposies since 6mths old so I reccon I'm in front easily. I would have spent more than that on his snugglers for sure! DS#2 was only ever in sposies and he TT'd at 2.5.

When the sites factor in the cost for disposable nappies they also include wipes and plastic nappy bags as part of it also

I have spent about $600, that is for nappies, covers and cloth wipes.

DD has been in full time cloth since she came home from hospital at 3 months of age, she is 14 months now. I have enough for 2 in cloth and what I have will last until TTing.

I do plan on buying some prefolds for baby on the way though and a few more covers, I plan on spending about $250.

Ohh and half of mine are pretty and practical so I proberly could of saved some money if I went for practical and ditched the pretty!

ETA: As far as washing costs, I wash every second day (with DD's clothes, sheets, towels) and I air dry, we don't own a clothes dryer.
Washing liquid lasts for AGES! I think I spend $5 every 2 months or so!

ummmmmm i have lost cont of how much i have spent
i have 1 in cloth full time and has been in cloth fulltime since he was about 8 days old.
I have been known to 'finish off' the drying process in the dryer BUT only very rarely.

I bought a trial pack of ittis $50 +postage
BBH magicalls x 4 +wetbag around $100 +postage
then 5 seconds from itti bitti $100 +postage
and I have jut bought 2 second hand CTs totaling $35 +postage

I use the dryer, almost everytime but if the heaters on they go on the clothes horse in front of it! but we use the dryer for most of our stuff, nothing would get dry this time of year otherwise.
I only have enough for a day and a half in cloth, usually just use a sposie for night. has cut down the number of sposies used dramatically!

I think I'd have spent about $250ish? DS has only been in cloth since 13 months, but I think by now I'd have already spent that & more in sposies as I was buying Huggies. They worked the best for him.

I have also made a few of my own. I do still use disposeable wipes though. Need to make more cloth ones.

I can go 2 or more days without washing if needed as I have terry flats for back up, but usually wash every day or 2.

I dry the ones without PUL in the dryer often, or they all go on the rack in front of the fire. Takes twice as long on the line here atm.

I only got into MCN's with my last child so only bought 3 at a cost of about $60 (inc postage). But I bought a packet or maybe two of flats (flannel) for my first child at a cost of about $50. My mum sent down some terry nappies (about a dozen) and nylon triangle liners and pilchers. I only had to buy pins. I've also bought two packets of Snibs at a cost of about $20. So all up I spent under $200. I used the flats pretty much full time with my first child for about 6 months... about 50% of the time with my second child and about 30% of the time with my 3rd child. I DEFINITELY saved a fortune. I bought x-large MCN's and my 3yo still occasionally wears them as his night time nappy when I run out of Pull Ups. I hardly ever used the tumble dryer.

BUT

Ash has 130 nappies... he's HAD more, we've onsold a lot, and I can't help it!

I use the drier all the time because im lazy. If I was responsible I wouldn't and would line dry. In summer I DO line dry, in Winter it's just so much effort.

I have no idea how much I've spent so far but I'm not done. Got some great bargains at the baby expo $20 per nappy for itti bitti's and BBH magicalls. I keep telling DH it's fine bc we can use them for the next baby too but then I keep buying pretty pink ones so I probably won't if we have a boy next lol.

we have quite a few pink ones and i dont care josiah is not complaining and he is only crapping and weeing in them so why not if there cheap i think.
