Question IF I was to give it a go what would I need?

    Hello All,

I am looking into this whole cloth nappy thing and I was wondering IF I was to try what would I need for a basic set up? I would be most likly want to try the Modern Cloth Nappies ( I think..they are the ones that are designed like disposables??)

Also Bella is a big bub - she is 8 kgs @ 4.5 months and puts on about 1 kg a month...

    Thanks In Adavance!!

    Kate

PS as you can tell I have NO IDEA about cloth!!

The other ladies are WAAAYYY more knowledgable than me, but in the nappy threads, there is a starter thread, so you can read all about them, choose the type you like, and start there.
Ill try to get the link for you to start reading up.... Welcome!!!!

Howdy Kate - welcome to the dark side

The first thing I wanted to work out - out of all the information I was faced with - is what system do you think would work for you. So, what "idea" do you like best - fitteds, AIO (all in ones), pockets, AI2 (all in two's).

Once you have worked that out - then you need to work out what brands you like the look of, and try a couple, see what suits your baby, cos what suits mine may not suit yours. We can give you recommendations on what is a good nappy - but they would be based on how they work on our kids you know? Not necessarily a guaranteed winner.

Float around in the cloth thread, ask questions, google brands - ASK MORE QUESTIONS..

Me so way confused!!! DOH... Maybe Googling so I can see what they look like??

And once I find one that I like would I just buy one and try it?? Is there a second hand market?? As $$ are tight I would not want to buy one and then not use it....

I would like to try a cloth nappy for night time as Bella sleeps 12-13 hrs staight and the disposables only JUST hold that much wee...

Thanks Girls! Sorry I am asking so many silly questions!!

Google a site called buyforbaby, it sells second hand mcn's. Avoid ebay! I can't wait to try out my mcn's on my little girl . Watch out for the cloth nappy girls, they will have you addicted in no time.

If you buy new, many sites have trial packs with three nappies and boosters / liners etc.

EDIT: how do you feel about fitteds + covers, vs AIO?

if you google "baby beehinds" or "bum genius" or prob any of the main brand names, on their main pages (the nappy name dot com), they often have a 'New to Cloth' section where they explain with pictures the different types and how many you will need.
