    Mum 2 be thinking cloth...

    Hi,
I'm thinking I will use cloth nappies for my baby due in Feb, looking at prices and knowing the income will drop, I'm thinking to start my collection now!

My thoughts are to buy a few nappies from a couple of brands and then decide once I'm using them which ones I prefer and get those in the larger sizes.

My question is will i have time before bub grows out of the little ones to work out a favourite and then order them?

Also if anyone has advice on what to get (or what NOT to get) that would be great!

    Thanks Emma

I don't haven't done a NB in cloth yet. BUT I would suspect buying a few little ones of different brands to start with then as bubs gets bigger working out what you like. Bubs will change over the first 6 months so whats going to suit best is going to change in that time also.

I can get to lithgow if you ever want to meet up one day & check out what I have in my stash. Not alot of different options in mine as I have what I like already but I can show you what I have none the less.

You should definitely have time to try out a few different nappies before your bubs grows out of them, and pick some that suit. I did this with a sample pack from Nurture Nappies, and a few other types I just liked the look of (fashion victim!!), and I'm still using all of them. Some were too big initially, so I used flanny flats mostly, but it's only now that some are getting a bit small. It's been plenty of time to figure out what works for us, and to get more of the ones I like. I'm hesitant to get too many sized/AIO nappies in bigger sizes just yet, as there's things to consider like whether bubs will get chubbier, then crawling and walking, which will affect how well a nappy fits and whether or not it leaks. In saying that, though, I couldn't resist stocking up on Berry Plushes when they were on sale!
So far, I can definitely reccommend flanny flats for the first few weeks, with a few covers like Bummis, tots bots, Motherease or Thirsties PUL. I even use a Snappi with flannies because I'm just so bad with sharp things down there on a tiny baby! Fluffies flannies have folding instructions on the pack, and there's the nappy lady website. I don't reccommend the Eenees nappy pants. Great idea in theory... but messy in reality. Bamboo or hemp nappies and inserts are great, but not great for a newborn because you'll be changing every couple of hours, and they just take forever to dry.
Umm... there's so many to choose from! Really it depends on your preferences and your baby. I love the Bum Genius pockets, Berry Plush, Itti bitti d'lish and Baby BeeHinds. And my rainbow coloured terry flats!
