PUL...Wool...Fleece??

Hi all

i'm after some advice/info on the nappy covers out there for fitted nappies. I'm aware of all the different types but cant really get my head around why they are made of different materials? So i have a few questions..

Do i need to get matching nappy and cover- same brand?
Are the PUL covers like the old plastic pants our Mums used on us? Do they make bub feel sweaty?
How does fleece and wool contain the wetness? Do these covers require any extra maintenance? I've heard about the lanolin wash or something?
What is the best for fitted nappies?
Are covers fiddly - should i change my mind from fitteds to an AIO?

Pretty much just after some feedback about the covers you use and what you think of them? In case you havn't noticed i'm a newbie to cloth !! I apologise for the over load of probably *silly* questions....
