Ange, I think that might be what they are made out of - DH found a suite the other day that he thinks is perfect and the seat and back of the chair is covered in what he just called suede, but that's probably what it is. We don't want cushions as the IL's have cushions that tie on and it ****s him to tears that they slip and you have to tie them up all the time. I don't know if I could trust the microsuede on it's own as you should see our existing seats - they have stuff gristed into them that just will not come out no matter how hard you scrub it and I figure if I have removable covers that we can take them off when we have people visiting LOL .
I had a look at the links you gave me Maz, and can you just use it on it's own without sewing a 'cover' on it? Can you tell I know nothing about this sort of thing? hehe

Those suede chairs do look lovely. Covers would be good like you say, take them off when visitor come and when the kids are a bit older! Make sure you get the suede treated though. Is it called scotch guard?? I think of them come pre-done but worth checking.
I can't answer any of your sewing qns, because i am lucky to sew the hem of some pants, although i did make a cool bag the other day, so things are looking up! But i am thinking out loud here....
Would you make a cover and just line the cover with PUL at the front? Or do you want to make the whole thing waterproof? That would be pretty $$i would guess...
Some nappies have printed PUL as the outer, but most have a 'hidden' layer of PUL, so i don't even know what plain PUL looks like!
Yep Ange, covers for the entire seat and back of the chair. It will cost well over $100 for 10mts of PUL but it will be worth it if it protects the chairs and keeps them looking clean for years.
