raw silk liners

Hi,

i heard that raw silk liners are great for nappy rash. i have bought 1/2 a metre and wondering a few things:
1. has anyone used this before?
2. do you need to hem them?
3. washing?

hem - yes. else lots of fraying. unless you have an overlocker.
wash - definately. by hand, no dryer.
