Can you sew? Maybe you can make some of your own If it turns out it is the microfleece causing a rash from chafing, then you can make a flanelette or cotton/bamboo velour inner.
sorry only just saw this thread... yes the bbh bambo nappies are fab what we do here as we have had a battle with ds 17 months when he has a rash we change him every 1.5 hours during day if using bbh bambo... If terry cloth every 1 hour no exceptions and bathing everyday in the morning after the night time and this helped. We had big issues even the end of his woohoo was sore but got better real quick the antibacterial properties in bamboo are excellent we used no creams or anthing.
OK now I'm confused
Some folks IRL and in here have recommended microFLEECE as opposed to microFIBRE next to the skin. Looking at my pockets I'm thinking the FIBRE is on the inside and the lining of the pocket (ie bit that touches the skin) is FLEECE and therefore a no-no. So confused!
Also - Has anyone experienced nappy rash with microfibre/fleece but been OK with suedecloth? Or are they all as bad as each other?
Microfibre isn't to be used against the skin, its what the inserts in say, bumgenius pockets are made out of. You would never put it against the skin of a bub directly, its far too drying and god, I don't even like touching it with my fingers!!!
Microfleece is what is on the top layer of say, Haute pockets (bumgenius are suedecloth) and most WAHM's use microfleece as well - unless you request something like bamboo specifically.
We get rashes from suedecloth but not microfleece if that helps.
i don't know anything about cloth nappies, but just wanted to say, i used to clear up my dd's nappy rash using water and bicarb soda to wash her with cotton wool balls in between nappy changes and let air dry, and also used to tip quite a bit of bicarb soda into her bath...
Antifungal wash; Wash in the hottest water setting and add about 1/2 a cup of vinegar to rinse cycle. Line drying in full sun for a day or two or dry on the hottest setting in your drier if you have one.
You can also buy antifungal wash from the chemist, but I have found the vinegar works well enough with the sunlight. HTH.
Just a quick suggestion, we also had really really bad nappy rash with fred and nothing cleared it up. I spent a small fortune on nappy rash creams, antifungals, liners, wipes, new nappys, sposies, everything and it didn't budge at all. Some one mentioned my diet might be causing it... she was BFed and I stopped drinking fruitjuice and magically in 24 hrs it was gone and hasn't been back since....
I know it generally happens on hot days, but is there something that she is consuming on hot days (or you if you are BF) that may be contributing to it?
