why do u need covers for some of the MCN's? or are they just for flats???
why do u need covers for some of the MCN's? or are they just for flats???
Some, fitteds usually, don't have a water proof lining. AIO's, AI2's, pockets etc do, so don't need the cover.
Fitteds & night nappies don't.
I'm fairly new to MCN's, but...
with some fitted nappies (like the bamboo and hemp Baby Beehinds I use), the whole nappy is made of absorbent material with no waterproof outer layer, which is why you need a cover. Other MCN's include a waterproof layer, so you don't need a cover.
to stop your babies clothes from geting soaked when wearing fitteds
to stop the wet spot when they are sleeping
to contain the wetness to the fitted nappy
Fitted MCNs generally have no waterproof layer and require a cover.
Night nappies also, you tens not to want to use PUL over night so most are fitteds, and wool covers work best for night time
AIO - All in One these dont need covers
AI2 - All in Two, this is a cover and a snap in insert. Sometimes the snap in is included in the price others you need to purchase seperately
Pockets - I dont think these need covers, none of mine do anyway.
then another question please... why are some covers made of fleece etc? i dont see this as being majourly absorbant....
maz - im new to this.. the word "fitted" makes no sense to me.. lol
Fleece is more breathable than PUL. Wool is absorbant. Haven't used either myself yet though.
Fitted...is kinda just a usual MCN without the waterproof layer.
thankyou
so u need covers for fitted nappies and ones that arnt water proof as such. Covers add more.. "security" to the nappy (is that the word im looking for?). and saves 6-7 clothes changes a day.
ok.. another quick question... canu resuse the cover if its not wet or damp??? like say they use a cover for a whole day????
Fleece is polyester hon...polyester is waterproof...so it actually allow's air flow to your babies bum and it 'draw's and evaporates wetness into the air. This can elimainate nappy rash but note that its not 100%...you can still get compressions leaks from them and if your babie wears them overnight, that the outter clothing can still feel slightly damp
And hon...covers arent made to be absorbent...they are ment to encase what the fitted nappy , terry square or prefold cant
ETA we need a meet up babe so I can show you![]()
thanks maz.![]()
