    And this is what truthorfiction has to say about the asbestos and tampons issue;

    Additionally, we contacted Dr. Stephanie Baker and she sent us the following email:

    I am Stephanie Baker. A version of a bogus e-mail alerting readers to the alleged dangers of tampons has been circulating with my name on it. I am NOT the author and I disavow myself completely from the content of the e-mail. It was not my intention to further disseminate this FALSE information. When I received the e-mail, I forwarded it to a few friends, commenting on what I felt was the absurdity of the misinformation that it contained. My name became associated with it because I did not realize that the e-mail program I was using at work would drop my electronic signature file (including my office address and phone) to the bottom of the forwarded text, thereby implying that I am its author. Unfortunately however, one of my recipients not only forwarded it, but left my name at the bottom of the text.

    In addition, you should be aware that the content of this e-mail is constantly being altered by those who receive it, including moving the placement of my name within the text of the e-mail. One version circulating combines my name with that of a Donna Boisseau, a person unknown to me, whose name was attached to the version of the e-mail that was sent to me.

    If you have forwarded this e-mail to others, I would very much appreciate your forwarding this message to anyone you may have sent it to. Thank you!

    Stephanie Baker

    I always check out these sites first whenever I get an email like that.

    I've never tried cloth pads but have been meaning to for ages. I also find disposable pads really irritating, especially in hot weather!

    I have a mooncup though! I used it for 3 cycles before becoming preg with DD and ever since my cycle started up again almost a year ago.

    I used to suffer with really bad period pain. Terrible. I remember it even in highschool. It was sometimes so bad it would make my legs go weak and I was unable to stand with waves of pain rolling over me. Ok, I think you get the picture. Now I'm not absolutely sure whether the mooncup or having the hormonal changes of pg and birth have made the difference but here I sit on day 1 of my period, and I have not had a single cramp or pain!!! The difference is unbelievable to me.

    As for the duration, I would say it is just as heavy but perhaps almost a day shorter. I would be really interested if someone has had a similar experience with changing to cloth pads! I really recomend the change to cups!

    Macca - I use PUL as the waterprrof layer (too scared not too! lol), I have some smaller ones with Sherpa as the absorbant (they are Shel's liners lol) and others with hemp. And the top i have some with microfleece and some with flannelette.
    I'll have to post pics!

    Trill - honestly, I have no idea of the theory! Apart from the rumour of chemicals in disposable pads. I was just interested as it was on a cloth pad site so wondered if anyone had actually had that experience? But they don't mention WHY, they just say thta many women experience it

    one of those weird things I suppose.

    Day 2 of using cloth and I haven't had a single cramp either. And I am not severly itchy like with disposable pads.

    Gets the thumbs up from me!
