Welcome to BB I hope you find it as useful and supportive as I have.
You are not alone. Not many bubs in my mothers group are sleeping through, and you will find plenty of threads here on BB with people who are enduring sleep deprivation. BB is a fabulous community and their is a wealth of experience to be shared from all the wonderful parents here.
My DD is just over 8 months, so is 6 months corrected as she was early. She is still waking every 3 hours, sometimes 4 ( not often right now). Sometimes it is 2 hours (aaahhhha) but thankfully she has not done that the last few days. It is hard but I am a firm believer that when she is ready to sleep longer she will. I have read plenty of other threads with little ones under 12 months and also older that wake ever few hours as well. We co-sleep so it is not to bad, I often start falling asleep when she is drinking.
I sometimes try to pat DD back to sleep but it rarely works so I just feed her. If I pat for too long and she wakes fully then she will be awake for an hour and that is painful. She is fed to sleep during the day as well.
If it all goes pear shaped and i get over it I will look at the approaches in No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley. Have you read any Pinky McKay? She is good as well. They both really support letting the baby develop in its own time.
All the best with your little ones sleep and teeth. Teething can cause sleep issues but it sounds as though this has always been your bubs sleep pattern.
