    Reflux formula's your opinions please

I just put Ella on Nan AR yesterday because she has been real vomity and i dont want her to bring up her zantac.
Anyway she had a bottle at 6pm and slept until 12:30 had another bottle and slept until 6am it was fantastic no fussing during the night i only had to put her dummy in twice the only problem i had was getting her to burp she just didnt seem to have any wind so i put her back to bed without getting a burp out of her and it didnt seem to bother her but i am worried she will have wind later because of it.

What AR formula are your babies on and what do you think of it was there a noticeble difference in bub and did it constipate them.

I found that it was best to buy the formula and buy the thickener separatly.
The combination of thickened formula and losec (zantac) seemed to slow down my bubs digestion considerably and led to him not feeding as often.
I didnt find wind to be a problemit seemed come out the other end lol. But when I bought the formula and thickener separatly, I was able to mix it to only 1/2 strength thickening KWIM? This enabled him to keep it down yet kept his digestive system working better.
Karicare sell thickener, or you could buy 1 reflux tin and 1 normal and mix them 50/50.
Good luck, we found it took some tweaking in the early days.

Thats what i was thinking of doing buying normal NAN HA and mixing 50/50 as her reflux is moderate and i dont want to constipate her

We tried the Novelac Reflux formula as its designed to thicken once it hits their tummy but it constipated DD2 really bad. Am thinking about doing what the other ladies have done with the thickener as she was so much better those couple of days she was on the reflux formula.. my only issue is with teats and the thickened formula. What flow does everyone use??

I used a #3 when I had it on full thicken and I think a #2 for 1/2 strength (that was from DS being 4-6 weeks old at the time)

I am using fast flow #3 with the reflux formula she normally has the newborn i find the fast flow with the reflux formula is the same drinking time as the newborn teats with normal formula i am going to try mixing 3 scoops of the reflux formula with 2 of the normal formula as they are both NAN and see how she goes because her 1st poo this morning was a lot thicker than normal like play doe where hers are normally like peanut butter (sorry for the description) and i want to avoid constipation and both formulas are 100% whey so it should upset her tummy.

Thanks for the replies re the teats. DD2 is happy on the #1 teat so will give #2's a go with the half strength thickening and see how that goes and if not move to #3.

We use Novalac Reflux here. DD was constipated when we 1st started, but it settled soon after & we have never had a problem since. It is great that, as SS said, it thickens once in bubs tummy, so is much easier to drink

I started the half nan reflux formula and half nan HA with number #2 teats and oh what a difference she is sleeping 6 hours feeding like a dream and her poo's are normal so far and we have had no issues with wind so touch wood i have found the right combination for her.
The formula is thick but not to thick and she is burping without bringing it all up

What is HA and where do you get it? My little mans reflux is getting much worse and Im considering switching from BF to FF for thickened feeds as the losec is doing it's job on the acid but my BBs aren't handling the extra feeds to cover the stuff he brings up :-(

NAN HA and S26 HA are just improved formula's with omega 3 and iron ect the AR formula's are anti regurgitation or reflux formula's. so NAN AR is for reflux NAN HA is a normal formula.

I tried every reflux formula on the market for DD. None worked in stopping the spew.. it was just thicker and harder for her to bring up.. Long term use of AR formulas arnt reccomended, so I just didnt bother with it in the end.

This is the bit I Dont get, I dont have a spewer (has done it once and think that was my fault) yet the GP thinks he has reflux. What other symptoms is there?
He was doing fine on the normal formula i was giving him. Think when this free tin is done I will go back to that or try the normal karicare one

Arching of the back when laying flat. General unsettledness etc. Kinda of like us when we have heartburn.
