Amber teething necklace- how often does you bub wear it?

We wear to bed - the CC took it off him for some reason and he wasn't wearing it for 3 days - didn't we know it! The molars came through with no pain relief ... same with the eye teeth ... everyone now knows its his.

We also wear it for showers.

they just wear it - they don't chew on it at all (its cotton after all)

Caeleb wears his only during the day. He wears it for day sleeps. It does suggest that they can be worn full time, but wold you really want to take the risk?

I got mine from Ebay too. I hope it's authentic...

I still don't get how they work! Anyone able to explain it? I had thought maybe they chewed on them or something, but seems like they just wear it...?

Littlepig, the Amber resin is suposoed to act like a panadol, well thats my understanding. It is warmed by the bodies temperature and then moves through the skin. Please correct me if I am wrong

Some very pretty necklaces etc there and if I'm not mistaken they're cheaper too. Oh, also has a bit about not allowing the bub to wear the necklace whilst unsupervised (so no sleeping in them I guess!).

Looks like it's the acid (I guess that's what you were referring to Boomba ) and the electromagnetic properties that do the trick, but I want to know what they do that will stop my little un from hurting.

I've tried to find out some proven info, rather than just folklore, but all I could find was a wiki thingie that doesn't explain how it works medicinally, just that people used it because they believed it did stuff.

I reckon I'm going to have to buy her one as a xmas pressie and not mention the teething thingie at all

A question for those who use amber teething necklaces and find them to be effective - have you previously used other forms of pain relief (eg: Nurafen, Panadol), and how would you compare the results?

I am interested in trying amber but have only heard about its efficacy from those who have only ever used amber or homeopathic remedies - they have never used conventional pain relief. So it's hard to know what the comparative 'level' of pain relief is - those children may have simply been ones who do not respond as badly to the pain of teething, and thus amber has worked well for them. As panadol, nurafen and SM33 are the only effective treatments so far for my son, and I really prefer not to use them, I wonder if amber would provide a comparable level of pain relief.
